Returning to the site after a 5/6 year break. Keen to get writing again.

I used to frequent this site heavily about 10 years ago and was involved in many fantastic stories; meeting a plethora of writers with imaginations compared to which mine own paled. I'm hoping to rekindle my love for writing and meet other like-minded individuals.

This a second account, as I forgot the details of my original one.

Alex - Car Park

"Yeah. Sure. Nice to meet you." A thin smile appeared on Alex's face as he finally learned Blondie's name.
He'd been happy to see Angie was still alive and well, not to mention he now knew her name and could henceforth no longer refer to her as "Blondie"

"Ibanez, escort civilians to the top."

Alex didn't know who this guy was, but he had an air of authority about him, so for now, he'd do as the guy said. Although it didn't seem he needed to do anything, as the civilians were already moving towards the stairs. A hand grasped his shoulder,

"C'mon. She's wantin' to do something to the car. We'd better not get in 'er way, aye?"

He turned to see Angie stride past him, heading to the stairs. "Uh...cool." Making his glock safe, he holstered it before striding to catch up with her. He'd only known Angie a short amount of time, but he knew her and could trust her. That counted for everything.

Looking back, Alex thought he saw one of the Jap women planting something in the car fuel tank. Another grenade? Goddamn, these guys sure loved their pyros. Wouldn't the resulting explosion be devastating? He just hoped that even if they survived, the flames wouldn't trap them in the car park. He thought he'd heard someone mention something about a helicopter earlier. Surely there was no way they were being rescued... But if so... Hopefully they wouldn't be devoured by flame nor foe before then.

@Scoundrel is Amy talking to Ishida when she asks about where they're going at the end?

@Darkraven He's a Lance Corporal :) There's nothing particularly special about him, he's just another soldier, haha :P

@Darkraven Agreed! Best to just move on. Although I'll bear what you've told me in mind :)
And yeah, I was away for just over a week. I'd mentioned it earlier in the OOC and messaged Tome about it and he understood. As of now though, I'm back in and ready to continue :)

@Darkraven right, right. I'd read in your post that one of your soldiers barely spoke English and was playing on that. It was in no way intended to knit pick yours or any other post. Since tome had previously mentioned all characters were in the car park and no one had mentioned seeing mine (which is nobodies fault) I was simply trying to come up with a solution as to why. I apologise if you feel I diminished or godmodded your characters in anyway.

Since you seem to feel rather strongly, I'll edit it. Again, apologies for any offences caused.

Edit: Done. I just removed the part about your soldiers not recognising military kit and not understanding English. I left in the part about them dragging him to the side, just to explain why Angie didn't spot him. I hope that's acceptble :)

Alex - Car Park

He had... argh... pain. The girl had... gone? Alex wasn't sure what had just transpired. The last thing he remembered, he'd been talking to Roland, the next thing, chaos. So many had fallen. He'd never seen death and carnage on a scale like this before/ It had almost been too much for him. He'd blacked out, yet where his conscious had failed him, his instincts had carried him through the danger. He'd come to being yanked inside a car park building of sorts by some foreign soldiers. It had taken him a moment to recognize the JSDF uniform. That only raised more questions than it answered. What the hell where the Japs doing here?

The disorientation of the black out had dulled his senses, but he was coming back to reality. Brutal, harsh reality. The soldiers had dragged him to a corner of the car park, away from the action. He had spotted Blondie, but had still been in a daze and unable to call out to her as he was pulled away. It didn't seem like she'd spotted him.

An explosion rocked him. A loud, resounding BOOM echoed throughout the car park, completely shattering Alex's daze. That, was a fucking stupid decision. Not only had they about deafened everyone in a 50 meter radius, they had also probably attracted the attention of walkers from miles around. Also, using a fragmentation explosion device with a kill radius of 20 meters without body armor, was an extremely fucking questionable decision. Yet despite that, it seemed to have worked well in these circumstances. Wether or not it brought the unrelenting hordes of undead upon them, was another story. Hopefully the actual building had muffled the explosion and not lured in any unwanted rotting guests.

Now back to reality, Alex saw Blondie and a soldier attempting to save someone. Although he couldn't quite make out who. He couldn't clearly remember what had happened, but he was pretty sure everyone from Blondie's original group was dead. Fuck. Gripping his pistol, he knew he couldn't stand by idly. Grabbing the nearest soldier, Alex pointed to his weapon, then to the horde, portraying his intent to help. Seemingly happy, the soldier let him pass with a grim nod.

His breath came hard and ragged as Alex sprinted towards the group, stopping about 5 meters away from them. The smell of carbon and flesh washed over him in a sickening wave. Gritting his teeth, he closed the gap between them. He saw Blondie attempting to help another woman over the car. It seemed between her and the Jap the situation was under control. However the fresh(ish...) wave of undead shambling towards the group, wasn't. His hands shook violently as he raised the glock to his eye, 'Breathe... COME ON.'. Closing his eyes, Alex shut off the world, taking a long, deep breath in, before slowly exhaling. Opening his eyes, Alex chose his target and gently squeezed the trigger. The shot went clear through the head of the first undead and ripped off the jaw of one close behind. The empty case flew out of the glock, making a small tink as it hit the floor.
Without looking out the sights he shouted to Blondie.

"Yo! You two get the girl out of here. I'll cover you!"

The hordes weren't dangerously close just yet, but the more he could drop, the better the groups chances. Fuck. When would they get respite from the undead?

I'll be back on Sunday, but I'll be spending all day on the train. I may get a post up if I have the patience to type it out on my phone. If not, I'll definately get one up the Monday. Hope that's cool and sorry for the absence!

It had taken the majority of his self control not to force feed this new guy his fist. He THINK he'd crashed into them? Alex gritted his teeth, his head swirling as the anger brought flashes of pain and waves of dizziness. Whether it had been from a possible head wound, or from adrenaline, the last few minutes had passed blurred and too quickly. Seemed the majority of the group was back on their feet and by the luck of whatever God(s) were out there, it seemed there were no casualties. Roland seemed to be cutting about. He'd given Alex a brief introduction when he'd first joined the group, but he wasn't sure if He'd told Roland his name, or anything about him. Oh well.

He'd gone over with the ex-SWAT commander when the newcomer had turned up, standing a few meters behind the two for situational awareness. Even from this distance, he could see the guys pupils were extremely dilated. Drug use? That would certainly explain a lot. It made Alex wonder about the character of the guy who'd take copious amounts of drugs during a zombie apocalypse. He was either extremely reckless, or was a believe in the phrase "YOLO". God, he hated that phrase.

The brief conversation that entailed showed the two were both SWAT, and that the new guy seemed to look up to Roland. Either Roland was really good at what he did, or the other guy was a kiss-ass. You got that a lot in any career with a rank structure. After watching him quickly and efficiently deal with the bleeder only moments later, the question was answered. After a moment of what looked like doubt, Roland had addressed the group.

"I know none of you know me, and I am new to this group... I don't care to be the leader at this point... but we gotta get moving and we gotta get moving right now. Everyone grab what you need, whatever that may be, leave what isn't needed. If you need help walking then speak up, we gotta get our shit together right now or we won't be seeing another sunrise. Those shamblers are on their way, an I don't intend to be here when they arrive. Five more minutes then we need to move."

As if to prove his point, Sophia called faintly over the wind. Looking over, Alex couldn't see what Sophia was warning them about, but he trusted her. Turning back to the group, he spoke in a low voice.

"We may not even have 5 minutes..."

Not waiting for a response, Alex stealthily ran to where Sophia was looking out.

"Good job. Head back to the group now and make sure everyone is okay and ready to go. Show 'em who's boss." He ended the sentence with a small grin, motioning towards the group with a nod. He found it was good to give Sophia jobs and responsibility like this. It kept her mind busy and off the horrors that were forever unfolding in this new, troubled world.

Looking forward, he saw the shamblers she'd warned him about. The first three undead staggered towards them slowly, but surely, their eyes empty of life, but full of an endless hunger. He couldn't see much past them, the blackness of the night impaired his vision. It was always good to prepare for the worst however, and assumed there were more walkers behind the three approaching. In turn, he looked to the other side of the bridge. It was too dark though and he couldn't tell if it was clear or not. Damn.

Alex backed towards the group, keeping the undead in his sights.

"Hope everyone's ready. We're outta time." Glock holstered, he drew the knife from his webbing. "We can buy a little time if you want to try to take these three out, but we need to do it quietly. The last thing we want to do is draw more of these things in and get trapped on this bridge."

He flashed a look to Angie, remembering the gunshot and the corpses of her old group lying in pieces on the gym floor. She'd suffered that mistake already.

"I'm not here to play leader, or boss anyone around, but we can't just stand around here. I'm in agreement with Roland. We need to move now. I'm happy to help anyone along who can't walk on their own just yet."

He looked to their own driver, noticing the blood seeping through the gauze and bandages. It seemed odd that despite the treatment, the wounds still seemed to bleed.

"Are you going to be alright man?"
