And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

My post looks messier than I thought it would. Perhaps teal was not the best choice of dialogue colour, especially to go with red? Well, I don't think it'll be that bad to read. Tell me if I should rather change it.
As the group of outsiders (and one familiar face) approached, Escobert couldn't help but scoff under his beard. His last run in with the lot had not been to his liking and he still didn't understand what Nighthill saw in the people, but behind all hese thoughts he was still glad someone was willing to undertake this mission. "We'll finish tis later", he instructed sergeant Longwater, who did a quick salute and walked off to the right before the people had time to address him. Mr. Lake shook his sleeves and crossed his arms onto his chest. For him, it was no coincidence that he was here.

Out of Escobert and Mr. Lake, the latter was the first to speak: "Life in the next world, you say? As far as I know, the next world is no further than an astral travel away. My grandfather told stories of his days in those lands. But let that be a story for later, if we ever find the moment for it. I trust you sought us for a reason?" Of course, Mr. Lake knew well what these people were here for. He knew the same that Escobert did... and that was why he had stuck around. There was no way he'd leave this mission to a handful of spent adventurers without lifting a finger.

Escobert raised his hand, causing an immediate reaction in Mr. Lake. The man backed off, leaning against a nearby wall and letting the dwarf handle the talking. Soon enough, the adventurers shared the news the two were expecting: They had both been asked to undertake and accepted the mission to evacuate the temple before things went further south. The dwarf listened to the two women talk, occasionally nodding to show that he was both listening and agreeing. Finally, it was his turn to speak: "Aye, we 'ave a secure tunnel. As unfortunate as it is, we 'ad neglected tha upkeep an' 'ad ta drive off a whole nest o' rats. Not ta mention fixin' the iron door at tha end of tha tunnel, but those are taken care of. As for magic weapons, if I 'ad any, I'd give 'em out. Don't 'ave any though. Mr. Lake 'as said he wants ta come with ya though, so take that as you will. Now follow me, let's get tha job started." With the words confirming his participation, Lake pushed himself off the wall and walked with the rest of the people.

Their way led them to the lowest floor of the keep, where the smell of blood and death slowly faded away as nobody had any business dying here in the lower floors. A slight whiff of damp air and the smell of accompanying growth took it's place, but the smell of burning torches still kept it well hidden under themselves. "Just so you people are aware, I have the power to cast two spells left... one more potent than the other. Let's try and conserve them, yes?" Mr. Lake shared once they were nearly to final door before the tunnel itself. "I'll have to warn you though, as an enchanter I'm not the most powerful wizard in the offensive category", he added soon after. The man ruffled his messy goatee with his right hand, clearly nervous about the upcoming journey outside the walls of safety. He could at least find solace in the fact his Hypnotic Gaze was still armed for use.

As soon as things started getting really messy in the floors below ground, they could make out a shape in the dark, squatting on the floor next to a lantern. As soon as the shape saw them, it hopped onto two feet and threw their right hand onto the grip of a weapon. "Easy thar pal, Escobert comin' through", the castellan responded, prompting the person to stand up straight and relax their sword arm. From the shadows, two more of them rose, all masked and dressed in dark leathers, scimitars on their belts. One of them said something to another, but it was in some weird language most did not understand. The one that had been in the light pulled a key out of his chest armour and used it to open the door. He then raised his hand and knocked on the door twice, then slammed his fist on it as hard as he could. "The lad's tellin' ya how ta get back in. The door at the end of the tunnel 'ad it's lock busted so all it does is deter assault. We 'ave a few men set up there as well, but ye should hurry." Escobert accompanied these words with a hand gesture waving towards the door. The smell from the outside was not exactly inviting, but that was the way they'd have to move.

Due to a personal issues in my life involving death in the family, robbery, attempted murder, successful murder, and other drama, I'll be missing over the course of a week. I'll try to keep up to date and connected via cellphone but otherwise don't expect big posts from me.

That sounds... complicated. I'll be sure to drag your character along, although since his personality is pretty unique I cannot promise to roleplay him for you.
@Gordian Nought
There is the option of skipping the potential interaction with him, but I'd rather have him included.
@Norschtalen
Knowledge about the fastest, most direct route? Surely. About the stealthy option that's almost as fast? Less easy to do since people normally don't note down that kind of things, but with a plain INT roll we can figure out how well she makes one up from what she knows. Unfortunately knowledge about enemy patrols is limited since they don't seem to patrol per say, instead looting and rechecking houses without real set order to it. Unorganised plundering is hard to predict. At least she knows that's how they are acting.
Hello and welcome!

Judging by your interests, you will likely find something you like from the guild. Sounds like you won't enjoy Free as much as other zones though. In any case, hope you find what you are looking for!
I remain absent minded. Here come the mentions: @Lord of Evil@Dusksong
The spreading of the light did not stop, instead merely picking up more and more speed as it spread outward from the statue's head. It's bony wings were now spread fully onto it's sides, the light rushing into the front part of them, although it seemed to not be fully visible all of the time. Then came the eyes: For once since the initial awakening something took the time to happen slowly. It was like someone was blowing life to embers, the eyes lit up with no rush to themselves as if allowing time for the rest of the statue to prepare.

Suddenly a loud cracking sound erupted from it's wings and several pieces of stone from them flew backwards, only to stop mid-air. They were attached to the wing with at first barely visible threads of blue light, which then seemed to catch similarly coloured blue fire... the fire spread to define the shape of the wings and accentuate the veins on the surface of the statue. It was now clear why it had been so ugly: It was never meant to be viewed in it's dormant state. The statue crouched down and procured a pair of arms formed of stone-flame combination like the rest of it's body, and grabbed a pair of iron shackles from beneath it's feet. Rising on it's unsteadily beating wings, it breathed a puff of the fire towards the small statuettes in the middle of the room.

As those began to similarly open up, becoming gargoyle-like unlike their... parent, said creature spoke for the first time. Although most of what it was saying could not be understood, it only lasted a little while and ended in an intelligible message: "The jailor awakens. May Necro'Lic rule eternal! Ekil Erif, Ekam Erif, Erif Erif!" It did not seem to have noticed any of the party yet.
