Amelia would follow behind Steph and Freya as the trio departed from the fishing store and made their way into the woods. The young girl, while comforted by Freya's words, was still concerned around what had happened earlier. It was now a bit of a nagging thought in the back of her head, a concern about how others might react if they learned about what she could do. But she knew there was no point in dwelling on that just now, so with some effort, she pushed such a thought to the back of her head.

Watching the older girls, she noticed Steph looking in every which direction, even glancing in her direction, causing the young preteen to give her older companion a shy, nervous smile and a wave. Now, while Steph was looking for pokemon and trainers, Amelia was less focused on that and more focused on their surroundings. She could still sense the Ghost-Type pokemon in the distance and was keeping track of where to go but she wasn't sure when to bring up her desire to head in that direction. It just made her nervous to interrupt what someone else was doing in order to fulfill her own selfish desire. So, to try and distract herself, she kept an eye out for any berries or items that might be on the ground that could prove useful down the line as they walked.

When they stopped so Steph could battle and catch a wild Shroomish, Amelia remained silent. She knew that this was not her preferred way to catch pokemon but she also knew it was the most common and possibly the easiest for almost everyone. She held no ill-will towards Steph for using this method, but she still couldn't stop herself from feeling some disapproval and she hated herself for feeling that way. Afterall, she was not in a position to thrust her views upon others. Thankfully, it was a quick battle and it didn't seem like the Shroomish suffered too much. When it was over, Freya seemed to make it a point to bring up that Amelia had something she wanted to do, causing the young girl's face to turn red.
"I-I do but... I'm not sure that it's a good idea. It's a bit out of the way after all and I'm sure Steph would like to get to the next gym sooner rather than later." She said, quickly looking at the ground while twiddling with her thumbs nervously. She fully intended to travel with Steph but she had no plans on getting in Steph's way. Steph had a goal in mind while for Amelia, simply being able to travel was the goal.

Amelia continued to watch the races as they went on, finding it a bit odd but somewhat amusing that a Slowpoke decided to join them. She had to wonder if the use of abilities was allowed, as the only way she could see the pink hippo winning was through the use of its psychic abilities. Something told her it wasn't allowed to do so however, otherwise there was an actual chance of Sableye winning, if it could use Shadow Sneak.

She didn't get much of a chance to think on it though, as she soon found herself surrounded by some of the natives of the cave from Digletts to some Geodudes and even an Onix. Normally, she would have been more than happy to move but even putting the slightest weight on her ankle was enough to put a stop to that idea. So, she instead turned her attention to the pokemon in front of her, figuring that they seemed friendly enough. She wasn't as confident as she would be if they were Ghosts but that didn't mean she couldn't be friends with them.
"Hello there. What's are you all up too?" She asked the Digletts and Psyduck.

Meanwhile, Litwick angrily turned towards the Geodudes.
"LIT! LITWICK, LIT LIT LITWICK!" He said angrily, telling the Geodudes that it was because of them and a Graveler rolling around that Amelia had gotten hurt.

"Shu, Shuppet. Petpet, Shupet." Shuppet said, pointing out that it might not have been these Geodudes and trying to keep things calm, as Shuppet knew Amelia was probably not in the mood to battle right now.

Amelia quickly found out that the cave was very loudly and unsubtly dangerous in possibly the worse way. She had been focusing on the ghost presense she felt so much that it wasn't until the sounds of a Graveler rolling towards her got much louder that it finally dawned on her that something was coming TOWARDS her. The realization came early enough that she was barely able to get out of the way, the Geodudes that were sent flying in her direction just barely missing her in the process. Once the initial shock wore off, she would slowly get to her feet again, using the cave wall as support as she slowly gathered herself and calmed down. After a few seconds, she took a deep breath before setting off deeper down into the caves.

Eventually, she did make it to the location she was sensing a ghost from, finding what she had expected to find in the form of a Sableye. It seemed this one was competing for gemstones in a race against a Diglett and an Onyx. While she wasn't sure how fast Onyx was, Amelia was certain she remembered hearing that Digletts were actually fairly fast pokemon. And she knew that Sableye weren't the best when it came to speed, not unless they had the Prankster ability to take advantage of. If it actually had Stall as its ability instead, that just made things worse most likely.

As she was thinking about how to possibly help the Sableye out, a sense of growing pain in her right ankle was finally registering as the adrenaline from before finally died down. Realizing she wouldn't be able to keep standing, Amelia found someplace that was relatively safe to sit while still watching the races. As she did, she checked her ankle, finding that it had begun swelling. She had probably sprained or twisted it while dodging the Graveler earlier.
"Well, not going anywhere fast for a while." She said before turning her full attention back to the races again.

Thankfully, it did not take much for Amelia to find all she would need for the spelunking she was about to go on. Once she had all the supplies she would require, she made her way out of town and back to the Wet Caverns. Once she was inside, the Zubats of course swarmed her, but Litwick was out of its pokeball and would occasionally release an Ember to try and drive them away, though neither the Trainer or her Partner wished for a fight against that many opponents.

Once she made her way to the split in the cave, she made her way down the darkest path, using her flashlight to see in the darkness while using her sixth sense to try and locate whatever Ghost she had sensed down here before, praying that she would not encounter anything too hostile while she was down here. She knew that being in the darker areas of caves was far more dangerous, as some pokemon did like to use the darkness for ambushes.

"Alright then." Amelia said, waving goodbye as Basil left with the woman who had never introduced herself. Once the two where far enough away, Amelia lowered her arm and sighed to herself. She was free to go back to what she was originally doing and while the thought of just going about her journey on her own afterward did cross her mind, she pushed the thought away as she didn't want to cause Basil to panic. He seemed like a very nice person after all and she didn't want to betray his trust. So, she made it a point that after her small task, she would return to town rather than continue on.

So, with her plan set, she would go around town, stopping at various shops to look for a flashlight, lantern, or anything that she could use to light up the darker areas of a cave, since that was what she was planning on doing, as well as an Escape Rope to get out of the cave as quickly as possible and incase she ended up getting lost in the darkness.

Amelia could only giggle when Freya expressed the notion of worrying about Steph shortening her own life with her recklessness.
"I have to agree with you there. She'd charge a raging Gyrados if she thought she could take it, or it had something she wanted." The young girl said before turning her attention to old man as he told his story. The preteen fell silent in thought as she mulled over the story about a crack in the sky and mulled it over. While some of those around her were highly skeptical, to her it actually came across as plausible. Though it scared her, she felt like she had to speak her thoughts on the story. "It... might not be entirely impossible though. Suppose the crack did appear in the sky. If it was small, not a lot of people might have noticed. If you're wondering about the boom, it can be easily dismissed as thunder or possibly a pokemon using self-destruct or explosion. Earthquake is also plausible. Besides, it's not like we don't have examples of similar phenomena. Hoopa can open up portals to bring forth pokemon, objects, or people over great distances. I'm from Florasong and we get a fair amount of tourists there for music festivals or the opera house, and I've heard some of Alola mention similar occurances, though I never heard details. So, while unlikely, I do not think this story is impossible."

"Because playing second fiddle is better than not playing any fiddle at all." Amelia replied to Basil's question. Afterall, before she had started this journey she had very little say in what she did or how her life was going to go with the way her parents had oppressed her due to her health. So no, she did not mind playing second fiddle and she could always stop whenever she got tired of playing that fiddle.

When he asked her if she was fine with them taking care of something before they left, she shook her head.
"As I said, I do not mind doing what you want to do first. I'm fine playing second fiddle. So, let's do what you want or need to do. Who knows, maybe I can be of some help in some way." She said, adjusting her backpack before looking back up at him, ready to follow. "Besides, it might be nice to have someone to talk to while traveling. I don't mind talking to my friends but sometimes they can be too protective."

Amelia was certain that Basil would take her words and leave, probably happy to continue on his journey without question. So, it was rather surprising to the young girl when the older boy knelt down to her height and said he did not mind changing his plans slight to help her. The surprise was evident on the girl's face and she quickly looked away and at the ground again, biting her lip as she mulled over Basil's words. After several seconds, she slowly nodded to herself before looking back up at Basil.
"If... if you're going to help me, then all I ask is that you put your wants first. I had no real destination in mind to begin with. I simply planned on wondering around and going where my whims took me." She admitted. "So, if you're going to help me with something I want, I would rather you doing the things you want while we make our way there. If you want to do the gyms, then we can stop by the gyms in the order you want. If you want to do contests, we can stop by the competitions however you want. I think that's fair, so even if it takes longer to get to my goal, I do not mind, as I still get to do what I originally wanted to do to begin with: Simply wander around and see the world. I only ask that we avoid Witchpeak."

With her proposal now on the table, she would watch Basil closely, wondering how he would react. It was a deal that possibly favored him more, but she didn't mind. When she got the possibility to travel with all her pokemon might be delayed but it was not even guaranteed that she would get what she wanted. Also, if she took longer to get there, maybe her view would change. The only way to know was see how she would feel after an extended period of time. On top of that, she might be able to ask others their opinion on the matter.

Amelia didn't get much time to be lost in her thoughts before she was suddenly grabbed and gently pulled away and to the side by Freya. Surprised, Amelia didn't put up any fight and could only look up at Freya but was unable to look the girl in the eye once she knelt down to speak to Amelia. Thankfully, it seemed to just be words of encouragement and advice, bringing a small smile to the little medium's face. Once Freya was done speaking, she did manage to look her in the eye again before speaking.
"I... know how others feel or might feel about what I can do." She said in a soft voice, making it hard to hear her from a distance. "I know some will find it creepy. I know some might try to use me in some way. I know some might not care and I know some will think it's amazing or something like that. I know it's safer not to say. I didn't mean to tell you but it just... kind of came out. I haven't said or hinted anything to Steph yet and I'm... scared to do so. She seems nice and like someone I could tell it to but... I'm not sure how she'll react. So I'll... try not to say anything about it for a little while longer."

Their conversation was then interrupted by the entrance of a what could be called an eccentric older gentleman but what she was mattered little to Amelia as much as what the old man felt like to her. Just the fact that the old man felt like death was enough to make her move behind Freya out of nervousness alone. No person should feel like that and the fact he did didn't sit right with her. Her focus on the old man, she didn't hear most of what Bo was saying to Steph but the mention of a 'Forest Deity' did catch her attention, if only for a passing second before the old man began speaking about someone falling from a crack in the sky. Then shortly after that, came the man raising his hand to show a black crescent moon mark on the back of it.

The moon was fascinating as once again, it felt of death, but this scared Amelia less as this she understood was not something human. Did it still scare her a bit? Yes, it definitely did, and she was going to stay behind Freya that much was for sure. Did it also seem to call to her and make her want to get closer to look at it? Also, yes but with something like this popping up less than twenty-four hours after encountering those eldritch horrors in the tombs, she was in no way ready to try and investigate something remotely similar. So, behind Freya she would stay.

Amelia overheard the call between Basil and Kalmia and the immediate thing the young girl felt was guilt. She didn't know why Basil was being asked to help her with her selfish desire. She didn't like the idea of someone possibly putting aside their own journey and desires for something that she knew was selfish and unreasonable, even if she still desired it despite that. With that in mind, she watched as Basil walked away with someone she didn't know, apparently to have a battle against them. Now, a part of Amelia was tempted to turn around, find something she could use as a light for the caves, and leave Basil behind, but she knew that might make things worse on the older boy as he might try to chase after her, which would delay his journey more.

So, with those thoughts in mind, she followed after the two trainers to the arena they would be battling in. She would find somewhere to sit, letting her partners stay out of their pokeballs for now as she observed the spectacle in front of her with interest. Sadly, that interest did not last very long.
"No good. Neither is really making this a double battle. It's just two single battles going on at the same time." She mumbled to herself as she watched the battle turn into an affair of mostly brute force. There were no combo moves or switching of targets or wider strategies. It was just throwing one move against another. Sure, the occasional smokescreen or detect got thrown out and that might have made the difference in the end but that still didn't stop her from thinking that there could have been more to the affair.

Still, with the battle over, she made her way back to the entrance of the building they were in, waiting there until Basil showed up. She didn't have to wait long for the older boy to show up and he immediately questioned her in concerns to her joining him with the journey. The young girl shook her head slowly in response before speaking.
"I... don't think it's fair that you might have to give up your journey, even if only temporarily, to help me with something so selfish. There's no real benefit in it for you and I'm more likely to be a burden than anything. So, I think it's best if you continue as you were before the request. Unless, of course, you're absolutely certain you won't mind helping." She said quietly, managing to keep herself from stuttering.
