At the merman's first attempt to communicate, all she heard were clicks and whistles, much like a dolphin's. She was amused but was also a little disappointed, thinking that there would be a lot of miscommunication. Suddenly, she heard a sentence come out of his mouth which sounded much more comprehensible. Gwen grinned and gave him a thumbs up. "Awesome! It's a pleasure to meet you Runo," she said cheerfully.

Tanikazi beside her had also responded to the merman but she could hear the doubt in his voice. "Yeah, I agree. How did you all end up here anyway?" Gwen asked, directing the question to both Tanikazi and Runo.

Gwen hadn't forgotten the real reason why she was there and knew that she was going to have to take DNA samples soon but it wasn't exactly fair for her to go around poking needles into strange creatures without their permission. She just felt that it would be a better idea to gain their trust first. Who knows, maybe they would all be able to figure out the mystery of the pyramid together. It was then that Gwen wondered what the other humans were up to.
When the merman had placed his webbed hand parallel to hers on the glass, Gwen smiled at him brightly. She heard Tanikazi's comment and nodded. "Yes, you're right but it's fantastic. It's as though everything I had ever imagined in my wildest dreams is her, and I found it on my first field case," Gwen said with excitement. She knew that everything she had done up to that point was impulsive and unprofessional but to her, whatever punishment or consequence the universe had in store for her, she would be more than willing to take. This moment was something she could never had imagined in her wildest dreams, and she had a very wild imagination.

Gwen then turned to the merman, who seemed to be quite confused, or was at least lost in thought. He seemed to be staring out into the hall but when Gwen turned to look, there didn't seem to be anything there at that moment. So she returned her gaze to the water creature and held a hand on her chest. "Gwen," she said slowly, pointing to herself. "I am Gwen. You?" she asked, now pointing to the merman. She wasn't sure if he would understand her but there was no harm in giving it a shot.

"Yeah they were pretty cool, tell you what, I get out of school after fifth period due to my job if you be back her around one thirty I would love to hang out some more. Class is going to start soon." He sighed standing up dusting off his black jeans. He then extended a hand to Esther to help her up. "I would just skip but I was out of town for a few days and I do need to catch up." He gave Esther a warm caring smile as he looked at her.

Esther gave him a bright smile as she took his hand and levered herself to her feet. "Thanks, and yeah that could be cool." She had only just gotten into town and was happy to have already made a friend. She was also impressed that he had a job, even though he was still in high school. Esther was pretty curious about him but she didn't want to seem to forward, especially since they just met. Esther also realised that she was still holding his hand and she awkwardly jerked it away. "You should probably get back to classes then. I'll meet you back here at half past one," she chirped. Her notebook and pen were still lying on the bench next to her so she picked them up and closed her book, placing them back carefully into her bag.

As she walked away from him, she wasn't really sure what she would do while she was waiting. She was considering maybe just staying in the park for a little bit longer and continue writing her story, but she didn't want to seem too keen. Instead, Esther decided to take a bit of a walk around town and familiarise herself more with her new home. As she walking past an eyeglasses store, something caught her eye. She recognised some of the frames that were displayed in the window and remembered the days when her father was still the owner of OptiCure, the world reknowned prescription glasses company. Now, the frames that they used to make were under a different name, just like her. Esther shook her head and tried to forget all the memories of her past and pulled herself away from the store. She wanted to be caught up in her fictional place again so she resolved that she would just wait in the park until Jacob came back.
As Gwen carefully peered around the corner once again, still seeing the gorgon standing not too far away. She dared to peer into the room behind her, specifically at the large water tank. At first, it looked like it was all just water. Maybe she had just imagined it. Suddenly, she saw something materialising slowly. First scales, then the shape of a fish tail until finally, before her eyes was the sight of a mermaid... no, a merman, and it was staring straight at her. Gwen let out a tiny yelp and her eyes widened. Surely this could not be real. Despite her doubts, there was something inside her that excited her. She couldn't believe it and she needed to get a closer look.

Still carrying her metal briefcase with her, she slowly crept down the hallway. It was a huge risk and one wrong move and they would be spotted immediately by Medusa doppelganger. Gwen kept her steps light and swift and she soon found herself successfully within the confines of the room with the large tank. She gazed upon the merman in wonder and placed a hand on the glass as he too was pressed upon it. Gwen was speechless and wanted to ask so much but she wasn't sure if they would be able to communicate successfully. Instead, she just smiled gently, hoping it was enough to show that she meant no harm.

Jacob shook his head crouching down beside the girl. "No sadly I don't have any seeds, I'm Jacob by the way." He looked back at the ducks most of hid further behind the bench one however came closer to the girl. "So do you go to school here? I was wondering that so I figured I'd come over and introduce myself. He smiled at her as he reach down petting the closet duckling. He had to admit, school everything else melted away as he let this fairy-tale like scene play out.

Esther's smile became even brighter as she watched Jacob petting one of the ducklings. She slowly moved her hand closer to the nearest duckling to her and to her delighted surprise, it also waddled over. In fact, as she went to try to pet it, it jumped straight onto her fingers. She gasped quietly as she cupped her hand gently to create a little hollow for the tiny bird to stand in, but instead, it sat and closed its eyes. She felt a bit like Snow White as she gently stroked the duckling's tiny feathers with the knuckles of two of her fingers.

Esther then forgot that she actually had company with her, so she returned her gaze back to Jacob. "I'm Esther but no, I've already graduated from high school," she said with a small giggle. "It was cool that you came over and introduced yourself. I don't think I would have noticed these little cuties if you hadn't. It's a pleasure to meet you." Esther could hear the tiny tweeting of the other ducklings, possibly asking for their little friend back. Esther gently lowered her hand and allowed the little bird to slide off onto the grass. Once it had joined the others, the little birds began waddling off together and tweeting incessantly. It felt just like a magical moment and Esther was beaming, the corners of her mouth going from ear to ear. "I can't believe that just happened. That was awesome."
Gwen nodded in agreement. It certainly would be better if they ventured with other people. Unfortunately, she couldn't quite figure out where they were or how to get back. If there was one thing that she lacked more than anything, it was a sense of direction. Luckily, Gwen had Tanikazi to follow, hoping that he had a better memory than she did. As they weaved their way through various hallways and corridors, she knew that they were probably lost.

As they turned a corner, Gwen saw a strange creature leaving a room and walking out into the hallway. She seemed to have snakes coming out of her hair, much like the mythical legend Medusa. In fact, she looked just as she had imagined Medusa herself would have looked like. Gwen quickly sidestepped and retreated back behind the corner, only peeping her head around slightly in fear that she might be turned to stone. As she peered into the open door behind the Medusa look-a-like, she noticed what seemed to be a large water tank hidden behind her. She caught sight of the flick of a fish tail, and gasped at the thought that it might be a mermaid, one of her favourite creatures.

Wait, what? Mermaids and Medusa? No, this was a little to insane for her to take in. Gwen took a deep breath and closed her eyes. "This is only a dream... an unrealistic, crazy, intense dream." Gwen reassured herself with a quiet voice, hoping she could open her eyes and awaken in her the safety of her bedroom. Unfortunately, she was still within the walls of the mysterious pyramid.
Eliza frowned as she watched the bag of peas fall to the ground. She quickly walked towards it and picked it before following Dante and placing it back on his head. From the back, it seemed to her that his scalp was slightly distorted and it must have been due to the bump. The ice may not be enough to decrease the swelling but it would do wonders for the pain. "Ugh, how do you suppose you'll finish your task if your head is swelling. It's dangerous and you might black out at any moment if you're not careful," Eliza exclaimed with a sigh. "I know holding a bag of peas over your head is not the most convenient thing but it will help."

Why are you helping him? Do you not know that Wrath dwells within him? Disease informed her with a gritty voice.

"Then I'll just have to make sure I do not anger him," Eliza said aloud in response to her annoying demon. Eliza understood Dante's burden and hopefully, he understood hers aswell.
Esther was completely zoned out of the real world around her, stuck in the fictional that she had created with her writing. The words were scribbled quickly on to the paper in a continuous stream of thought. But her thoughts were suddenly interrupted when she heard someone yelling across the park. Out of curiousity, she pried her eyes away from the pages of her notebook and saw a young boy waving, heading towards her. She squinted, wondering if he was someone she knew. Was he mistakenly acknowledging her, thinking she was someone else?

When he stopped, Esther noticed that his gaze was caught by something else, something that was beneath her. She bent over to look under the bench on which she was perched and found the little fluffy ducklings underneath. Some of them were looking at the boy, the others were looking at her. Esther couldn't help but giggle at how cliche the whole thing must have looked: a girl sitting on a park bench, writing a story with ducklings underneath her. While she was leaning over, Esther realised that the cute lacey white dress she was wearing was quite short and she may have been revealing too much beneath the belt. She quickly sat up, holding down the hem of her dress hoping the boy hadn't noticed before she turned to him and gave him a bright smile.

Esther slowly and carefully hopped off the bench and bent down to get a closer look at the cute ducklings. The closest one to her jumped a little, causing the others to turn to her in surprise. "It's alright little ones, I won't hurt you," she said quietly, holding her hand out. She was close enough for them to get to but far enough that they wouldn't get too scared. One of the ducklings seemed eager to approach her, but the others were very unsure, which was natural. Esther looked up at the boy who was still nearby. "Hey, weird question, but you wouldn't happen to have any seeds with you?" she asked with bright eyes.
Aww, look at that. He's concerned about you. How sweet, Disease whispered in Eliza's head. When Dante had placed his hand on hers, she heard the demon laughing in amusement. She rolled her eyes and scowled, decided not to waste her words on the fiend living inside her. Eliza quickly jerked her hand away and grabbed her back from him. "I'm flattered by your concern but you don't need to worry either. You may find this hard to believe but I can actually take care of myself," Eliza said, raising her head slightly to prove her point. Disease seemed to guffaw at her statement and still, Eliza ignored it. "What are you going to check on anyway? Are you going to look for Katherin too? Because you do realise that if that's the case, then I insist on joining you." Eliza persisted. She quickly opened up her bag and checked to see if everything was still there as it was. She was satisfied and closed it quickly before she continued to walk away from the castle. "Well, shall we?"
Eliza quickly rushed back into the kitchen, heading straight for the freezer. But before she did, she stopped next to the dish that Kyo had previously set down. Secretly, she took a spoon full and giggled playfully to herself. She wasn't sure why, she just felt kind of childish. She still had a mouthful of the salmon dish in her mouth as she grabbed a bag of frozen peas. She would have grabbed some actual ice however she couldn't see a bag to hold it in. It's not like she was planning on just carrying it with her hands.

Once she had taken the bag of peas, she began to head outside and noticed that Dante had already gotten up and was walking towards her. Out of surprise, she had swallowed the mouthful of fish quickly. In fact, she had swallowed so quickly that it almost felt like she had taken in too much and she began hacking and coughing, trying to clear her throat. She had noticed that Dante was also carrying her bag as well and she quickly headed over to him.

"I thought I told you to lie still," she said as she quickly placed the bag of peas on Dante's head, almost maybe too hard. She reached out her hand, waiting for him to hand over her bag as she kept her other hand on the makeshift ice pack.
