Your eyes are heavy as you see a bright light in the distance. The harsh winds blow against you as you feel that last of your strength beginning to fade, but you trudge on through the snow and cold, determined to make it to your destination. The light doesn't seem to be getting any closer, and you feel yourself growing more and more tired, and eventually, you collapse on the ground, the wind pushing the snow over you. Your mind is blank, as you can think of nothing with the near blistering cold surrounding and consuming you, and eventually, you close your eyes, prepared to meet your faith.
You then open your eyes to a bright light, and after mistaking it for the entry way to a greater plain, you realize it's a chandelier hanging over you, and you're greeted by a man dressed in a doctor's outfit, save for a mechanical left hand. He has black shaggy hair, an unlit cigarette hanging in his mouth, and you noticed his eyes seemed to be completely grey, you assume he's blind. He has a dull smile on his face as he says "Glad to see you back in the land of the living. My name is Garrick, I'm the physician at the entry point." He walked away as he gathered some papers and handed them off to you and said "You'll need to sign these before we can start the process." He stands you up and begins to walk you along out of the small infirmary you were, down a hallway filled with guards. He explained "This is the entry/immigration building to help welcome new comers to our grand city."
You looked confused for a second before he simply explained "Welcome weary traveler to Neon city, one of the last remaining cities still standing in Ekos. I'm sure that you must be very tired, and I hope that I can make your entry process as simple as possible, but please understand, that we have rules and regulations we need to follow before we can let you in. Hopefully you'll be able to pass through the process with no issues, but we'll just have to wait and see how the guards and examiners react to you. Anyways, good luck and be safe. If nothing else, at least you'll get a few days of refuge away from the wastes of tundra..." He stops as you reach a door and he said 'Right inside is the possible new beginning to your life. Hopefully I'll see you on the other side." And with that, he walks away, leaving you infront of the door. With that, you decide to open it when you're ready, and brace yourself for whatever you may face.

Hello RP'ers, I'm Nephilem, and this is the initial introductory segment of "Neon City." It's an idea I've been brewing for years as a series of school writing assignments, short stories, and even in business talks for a possible webcomic at some point. I'm getting off track, but I just wanted you to know how much I've been developing this idea and how long it's been in my head.
Neon City takes place on Earth, in an unknown time period. Long story short, as it's not important to the plot of the RP, there was a third world war and most of the earth's population was wiped out. There was massive damage, including large seismic events, which in turn created the new continent, Ekos, which is basically a new Pangaea. It's been over several millennium since WW3, and there are several things to be aware of. First, power users and "mystic" objects. The radiation and years of mutation, evolution, and radiation poisoning has changed the world drastically. Besides the standard monsters, and the resulting ice age going on currently, there was the rise of people and objects with special powers. Anything from throwing fire to being able to manipulate matter, everyone generally gets one or two powers and that's it. There are also irradiated objects that when properly harnessed and used can create weapons and tools with abilities as well (some have even become sentient thanks to bacteria being mutated and melded into objects and evolving into intelligent life).
The other major thing to know about are the factions. There are several different continents/factions that control different parts of Ekos, but the basic breakdown is this. The northern quarter of the continent is controlled by "Imperos," a totalitarian state made up almost entirely of regular humans with technology and powered objects. They have a code and laws that basically say people with powers are evil and should be imprisoned or hunted down. They even have an elite group of tech soldiers called "THe Knights" that wear knight like armor and use special weapons made from irradiated metal that can neutralize power users (they use melee weapons cause creating bullets would use up too much of the special metal).
The southern and Eastern quarters are controlled by nomads, simple groups comprised of both power and non-power users that simply live off the land and have some major hubs they can trade and meet at.
The western section is known as the "wastes" because unlike the other areas which have life and vegetation that can sustain groups of people, there is simply nothing. Anyone that attempts to stay there or travel through there will usually die. However, at the edge of the wastes lies a set of cliffs that is home to our title faction, Neon City. No one knows how Neon City not only thrives but survives at basically the opposite edge of the rest of the world, but they manage too. The reason people know it exists is because there is a light coming from the distance as well as some travelers that regularly make it too and from neon city with special technology that even rivals the Imperos, however they keep themselves isolated as they are only a single city and in an all out war, they could be overthrown and wiped out.
So, now we get to how this RP is gonna function. As you noticed, for the opening I addressed you in first person. THe reason is because you are going to be RP'ing a single character that is the "main character" of the plot. For whatever reason, you decided you needed to come to the Neon city. Whether it's because of curiosity, escaping your past, searching for someone, or anything you can think of, you needed to come to Neon City, and you're about to get wrapped up in whatever is about to happen to the city.
For this RP, by main character I mean this. I role play in a style where instead of each of us controlling several major characters and sharing NPC duties, instead there is the "main character" role and "GM" role. The Main character is simple, you simply experience the world and react and make choices based on what situations and information I give you, and depending on your decision, you select a path of what to do, and then I as the GM will shape the plot and following events based on what you decided too do. I like this better mainly because I like my RP's having more of a game type feel.
Now with that out of the way, RULES:
1. Posting - So this is advanced, I shouldn't have to explain how long posts should be. Other than this, I want to get posts at least once every 2-3 days, more would be nice. If you have to be away, notify me, cause if you just disappear I'm assuming you're dropping all RP's.
2. Respect - We have to work together so lets be friends and work well with one another so this can stay fun.
3. Mature/Adult/Romance themes - I don't mind this stuff, but I stay away from it usually as I don't like it becoming the focus of the RP. I don't mind gore, sex, romance, etc, but generally I find that if not monitored then the RP will be over saturated with this and lose all value and focus on the story itself.
