Name: Lucia Stein

Gender: Female

Race: Elf

Faction: Luminous Knight, Overseer

Personality:
"Life gives you lemonades, you go ahead and sell 'em at a profit."

Lucia Stein is many things. She is aloof, careless, reckless, smart, mischievous, cunning, lackadaisical, lazy, hardworking, infuriating...Lucy spins on a dime with her behaviour, but it is exceedingly apparent that she does it all for one thing: her own enjoyment. After all, why live a life where you can’t even have fun? What life is there to lead if everything just feels like a pain to trudge through? Her assessment of her choices are often based on one question: "Will it be fun?".

Lucy shows exceedingly high amounts of interest in all kinds of magic, despite her status as a Luminous Knight, and has often lost herself in perusing books of magicks, as forbidden as they are in the ranks of the Knights. She has gotten into trouble more than once for hiding these materials in her bathroom, living quarters, and office, but has been let off with nothing more than a stern warning. Similarly, she doesn’t instinctively possess any sort of prejudice towards mages, and is more than willing to sit around and query them about their magicks. Her black and red garb often allows her to appear as an unsuspecting noble who just seems to like the fantasy of magick, and not a Knight of magick-banishing light.

Lucy exhibits traits of a social gadfly, and often addresses the elephant in the room in the most bluntest way possible. She is clearly learned in tact, for she is able to present herself well enough in official meetings, but she drops all pretense of that once she feels like she should take the status quo by its hands and give it a whirl. There’s no two ways about it: she knows she will cause an uproar if she points out a certain matter at hand, but she does it anyway. She takes great joy in doing this, obviously.

Oddly enough, she enjoys her work of pencil-pushing, and occasional ground work, and doesn’t seem to have much on hand to bother anyone about. HR has, however, received complaints from her that, quote, unquote, “There aren’t enough pretty guys in office. Please rectify this.”, “Not enough cake is available during lunch. Please rectify this. PS, pie is also fine.”, and so on and so forth, much to the chagrin and amusement of the staff at hand. None of these problems have been fixed so far. To be completely fair, who would pay any heed to these complaints in the first place?

Biography:

They used to say that romance is dead. That’s funny, because it was clear that, when Lucius Stein met Illya for the first time, and fell heads over heels for the elf, romance was still well and alive. However, that would be another story for some other time. This tale belongs to their daughter, Lucia Stein, a tiny creature adopted into the family of these two lovebirds.

Lucia was practically born in to the career of a Luminous Knight. Her fascination with the art of Luminosity already surpassed those older than her at an age of 7, and it only escalated from there onwards. Training under her father with the specially crafted sword of the Stein family, she only entered as an initiate at 17, mainly because she was conflicted over the whole necessity of rigorous training despite her skill with her sword, and the removal of her soft, soft bed, replaced by the hard ones present in the barracks. It took an entire year for Lucius to convince his daughter that it wasn’t that bad as she made it out to be. He was lying, of course, as Lucia found out afterwards.

Lucia was never the examplary trainee, almost always wandering off during her training sessions to read more books in the library. Of course, her height and her elf ears were the few things that made her life pretty, honestly speaking, shite in the barracks. While she floored the other trainees easily, by ramming the pommel of her sword before they could even see her move, she preferred instead, the road of passiveness. Bullies were quick to learn that, however, broken noses were bad for their complexion, so they steered away. She disobeyed trainers on a regular basis, and once took a Paladin on a wild goose chase around the entire training field, skipping and ducking out of the way of his attempts to hold her down. That having been said, however, she was already quite skilled at her age and her standing. Yes, there were complaints that she was an anarchist in the making, but her results were always outstanding, to say the least, and it left no quarter for her dissenters to complain about her.

She became a Knight soon after, and had her fair share of combat with the mages. It was during one of these skirmishes that she learned of fascinating extravagance that is magick. The colours, the flexibility, the variety of forms that is magick, it was all so enthralling. Had she been raised with the exposure of magick, surely, she would have gone down that path instead of this one. So enraptured was she by the wondrous excitement that was magick that she began to shy away from direct combat with mages, choosing instead to study their kind.

She was recently promoted to work as an Overseer. She isn’t exactly too high up within the ivory tower, playing the role of a pencil-pusher and surveyor. She is quite content with her job, though, as mentioned, HR gets quite a lot of rubbish from her.

CHA: 1 (???!!!)

Spells:
●Diminish: Lucy creates a radiant field of Luminosity around herself. All magicks within two metres' length are weakened when she brings up this spell, causing disruption in some way or another. The effects may vary depending on what magicks are in the vicinity. Illusions flicker and appear unsaturated in colour, healing spells work at half the speed they usually do, offensive spells lose part of their potency and projectiles lose both their potency and slow down within the area. It is a dual-edged blade, however: Lucy's magic, as well as her comrades', are also affected by this field.

●Extinguish: Lucy fires a projectile of Luminosity from her hand. If the projectile strikes a magical construct of any kind, it causes a weakening effect on them not unlike her Diminish spell, or outright blows it apart with the power of Luminosity. Its effects depend on the magical strength of its target. A creature created from high concentration of magicks will be less weakened by the attack than a weaker one. Should the projectile strike a magick-less being or object, it acts more as a non-lethal blow. It has been said to feel like a strong punch thrown their way.

●Witchbane: Lucy's signature spell. Lucy coats the blade of her sword with the radiance that is Luminosity, causing it to burn with the blazing light and fire that rivals the sun. Each slash that connects with a physical body leaves a scar of light that burns painfully momentarily, before fading away gradually, charring the skin around the wound occasionally. The residual burn seals off magicks as well- a cut upon a mage's arm causes them to have difficulty in using said arm to wield their magic. Along with its sealing burn, her sword is able to cleave through magicks, dispelling them with just a mere swing of her sword.

Skills/Techniques:
●Issatsu
A technique commonly used by Luminous Knights of the Stein family. It has since lost its relevancy after the dissension of most of the Stein family from the Luminous Knights, and the preference of much more formidable blades available. It focuses highly on extremely fast aimed slashes from various stances, including when the blade is still sheathed. Users of this technique are expected to have deft hands that would make a street magician or a famed pickpocket envious. Issatsu’s training does not extend only to cutting things down before they notice it, but also to angle their blades in certain ways to avoid the target as well. While this seems like a practice that would only wow crowds, it has its uses.

●Tactics? What tactics?
While sitting around and waiting it out to study the opponent’s moves is a perfectly acceptable action, Lucy prefers the alternative: give them no quarter to use any of their moves. Lucy adapts easily as to what the situation demands of her, changing and switching her tactics on the fly, rather than sticking to just one trick all the time. It’ll wear out eventually, and patterns will become discernible.

●Annoying
When she wants to be, she can be a pest of extraordinary proportions. Why is this a talent? Surely she won’t rely on this on combat, yes? Who in the right mind would continuously goad combatants that require concentration and a cool head to distract them? Really, what a silly talent to have!

●Well-Read
She seems quite well-learned in various magicks. She might not be able to wield them, but can identify them at a moment’s glance, allowing her to differentiate between healing spells and offensive spells. This is, of course, very important for PR. No one likes a person who shoots a medic by accident.

●Economics
Lucy dabbles in economics in her free time, and seems to be raking in quite the amount of monetary income from playing with houses and residences alone. She has an arguably intimate knowledge of how economics work, and is quite skilled in ensuring her investments are profitable to her family and herself.

Combat strategy:
Lucy’s modus operandi is high pressure game. She attacks relentlessly, all the while shutting down magickal ability with Diminish. By continuously engaging the enemy, even the smallest of cuts can seal their magick as well through the use of Witchbane. The aggressive attacks of Issatsu, nearly too quick to be discerned by human eye, makes sure that exclusively magic users are completely overwhelmed. That is not to say, however, that she can’t change it up when facing other opponents of other disciplines. She is willing to do anything in a fight, from taunting, to throwing sand in the eyes of her opponent, kicking them when they’re down, goading them into attacking her first, lull them into overconfidence by acting the weaker one, annoy them by refusing to draw her sword, and so on and so forth.

She prefers, however, to not fight at all, if possible. That’s bad for PR. No one likes it.

Equipment:
Lucy wields a strange, single edged sword with crimson and gold hilt and sheath. It boasts peerless cutting ability, and clumsy stabbing ability, almost as if it were made exclusively for slashing. Its steel is of a tempered variant that allows it to channel Luminosity with relative ease as compared to regular weapons. She treasures this sword, both as a weapon and a precious item.

Her armor is simple enough. She wears light chainmail underneath her rather extravagant attire, as well as pitch black steel greaves.
