Sam had gotten to work early today, earlier than normal, as he was assigned a new recruit for a partner, and he had to show them the ropes. Showing them the ropes was something Sam enjoyed a great deal. Sam got ready, and headed out to his Patrol car, placing his bag in the boot. He then went around to the bonnet, and sat down on the front of his car, awaiting his partner. "All units, be advised. Robbery in progress. Backup requested ASAP" Dispatch said over the radio. Sam would usually respond to the call, but not today. Having a rookie was never the best to dive head first into something so dangerous. "Officer down! Officer down!" Was then shouted over the radio, by a fellow officer, and Sam immediately jumped into his patrol car, and started to drive off, but then stopped and remembered he had to wait on his partner.

"Waitwaitwaitwaitwait!" A hurried voice sounded from behind the car as the newest addition to the force flung the door open and dropped into the passenger seat. From the looks of things the rookie wasn't even in full uniform yet, still had sneakers on and was missing her jacket. The whole 'look smart on your first day' idea went straight out the window as soon as she heard the call over one of the station radios, especially after noticing her mentor was about to race off without her! Day one and there was already something big happening... She'd never forgive herself if she missed out. How rare would something like this even be?

"Go for it, I'm in," Sarah told Sam.

"Yes" Sam said, as he stepped on the accelerator, speeding towards the scene of the crime, along with other patrol cars. "Now there isn't much time to go through everything, but you, you listen to me out there. Got it? You do as I tell you to do. I'm not going to put you in danger, but that's pretty much the job. We are always thrown into danger. You listen, you make it home tonight" Sam said, not taking his eyes off of the road. "I'm Sgt. Sam Swarek" He said with a smile. "Welcome to the force, rook"

"Officer Sarah Turner, Sarge. A pleasure. I'm sure we'll get along fine, ...because I really don't wanna get a bullet in me on my first day. My attention is yours~" Sarah laughed along nervously. They were going into a gun fight! There were quite a few cars with them though, at least they could intimdate any suspects with sheer numbers. Every officer carried a handgun, and most of them knew their way around guns very well seeing as this city was so violent. It almost made Sarah feel bad for the poor criminals. What would the looks on their faces be like when the boys (-and girl-) in blue show up and block their escape routes?

"Good, we shall then" He smiled in response. "Okay. we're nearing the scene. Get ready, brace yourself for a sharp stop, and be ready to jump out. Our first objective is to secure the scene. I want the officer who is down, to be taken for treatment should they need it. Then we're heading into the store. I'm not waiting for this SOB to shoot another one of us. Are you okay with those plans of action? Don't worry, I'll shoot him before he can aim at you"

"I hope this 'officer down' sitch isn't bad... The guy might be used as bait. Lure other officers into getting plugged while helping him out, you know?" She watched Sam's reaction, "...No, I'm not that smart really. I just saw it in a war flick once." Sarah admitted. As they neared the sound of sirens and occasional bursts of gunfire, she pressed her boots into the passenger seats footwell and got her handgun ready. The auburn-haired kid didn't seem necessarily afraid or excited, mindful only of Sam's advice...

Sam pulled the car to an angled stop, giving both occupants a good view of the building that the suspect was held up in. Sam opened his door, using it for cover, as he took aim, wanting to stop the suspect in his tracks right then and there, but no luck, with no good view or shot on the gun wielding manic, he shut the door, and decided to vault over the bonnet of his patrol car. He reached the injured officer, who was receiving medical attention from a fellow officer. "How is he?" Sam asked, crouching down, but aiming at the doorway to the suspect. "Not in a good way. To be honest, I don't think I can keep him alive much longer. We need the medics ASAP" Sam looked to his partner. "Rookie, you're up. Time to show what you're made of. On me" Sam said, as he took a side alleyway, hoping to flank the potential cop killer.

As the patrol car came to a sudden jolt, Sarah climbed out with no time given to the suspect's gun sights. Fortunately, or maybe not so, the maniac was deep inside the store in order to shelter from the police, and make it hard for them to make any kind of assault. It worked both ways though - that numbskull was under siege. Somebody had to make a move...

That someone was Sam Swarek! At the name 'Rookie' being called, Sarah rushed after the Sarge with her handgun drawn low. He'd said he wouldn't put the green recruit in too much danger, but 'that was the job'. Couldn't be helped. Every newbie wanted their shot at glory though, right? Funnily enough she was already well into the role she had to play. Weapon safety off, trigger discipline, keeping a staggered formation behind Sam so as she could quickly raise the pistol if their gun-toting friend tried to make a break for it. Sarah was silent. She looked focused. But deep down she was wondering if this could have a peaceful ending...

Sam turned the corner, reaching the back door of the store. "Wait..." He whispered to his partner, as he hugged the wall. "The door, it looks alarmed. He'll know the minute we open. Best to bust it open, and take the suspect down. Got it?" Sam said, waiting for his rookie partner to respond. "On your go, we bust in. Call it rookie" Sam smiled.
