((Please forgive me for this is my first time creating even an interest thread on this site.))

This is set in a world created by Laurell K Hamilton for her Anita Blake series. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the series, I’m just borrowing the world. Some terms, abilities/attributes, and other things that are being used from the series will be defined so you understand them. That means it is alternative universe to us but humans are still just like humans in our world, so keep it real.

Vampires exist. Were-creatures are real. Magic is not just in fairy tales. This is the real world.
The real world is full of monsters, legends, things of fantasy. Some are endangered, some are extinct, and some even live among us.

Basic Plot

Years ago, young (defined as ages 5 - 16) preternatural beings (mostly lycanthropes and witches/psychics, though some youthful looking, weak vampires) disappeared. After a series of gruesome murders, the disappearances stopped and most of the missing youths returned, a lot of whom went to a safe house following the handful responsible for freeing them.

Now, just over a decade later, the disappearances have started again. Four children (that have been reported) have disappeared in the last four months. The RPIT detectives are without a clue again, but they count themselves lucky that the murders haven’t started. Yet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Types of characters to choose from:

Human
Magical/Psychic Human
Lycanthrope (covers any and all were-creatures)

Humans are straight forward so I'm going to skip this. They are real world type people that need realistic stats (like if they have hair coloring that isn't naturally occurring, you need to note their natural hair color as well as the fact that it was dyed the unnatural color - and the same goes for eye colors). As RPIT members, they know about witches/psychics, vampires, lycanthropes, zombies, and many other preternatural creatures; some ignorance is allowed, but basic things (like vampires drink blood and can only enter private places if they are invited in and lycanthropes change into an animal during a full moon) would be known.

Only one or two lycanthropes will be accepted for this particular RP - and I would recommend they be alphas as alphas can fully suppress their aura if they wish to be in the closet. I will be playing a lycanthrope that is out of the closet *which is how she ended up in RPIT* but you do not have to.

A few last things before I give the character sheets...

I read every sheet and may request alterations, explanations, or things to be removed from the sheet to bring it into line with the universe before a sheet will be approved. (This is a universe I know very well even though it is not my own and I'm kind of anal about minutia when it comes to borrowing someone else's universe.)
You are always welcome to contact me with questions or wish to discuss things before making a sheet if you are having trouble or want more information before making a character.

We will all be playing characters that are part of RPIT, or consultants for RPIT, for this RP, as the plot is centered around investigation. If you wish to play a consultant instead of a police officer/detective, please discuss it with me prior to sending in a sheet.

Not all races have the same sheet. Please use the proper sheet.

Sheets!

*Note: anything in (parenthesis) should be deleted and replaced with your information.*

Accepted Character List:
Tala Warren - Detective in RPIT

Urmuhgurds! soooooo urshums! I'mma place hold here. I'mma do a charrie sheet for a were-doggy! ;D

~Edz~ Urps... Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii~~!! Err'body!!!

~Edz again~ are were-doggies bad? Cuz I dun wanna play a bad doggy. Like the idea I had for them was that they are an ancient society that protects regular humans from vampires and nastiness-like things? Sooooo... I pictured them as good doggies doing good, staying hidden and helping good peeps from the wars in the shadows. BUT!!! They are sooooooooo not push overs.. know how like they have dogs bred to fight wolves and kick their furkin' urses?! Yeah... like that. Muh charrie has been in the business for a looooooooooooooooooong time and she dun like what has happened to the young supernatural types regardless of their backgrounds. Thinnking that muh Alpha's group would be a "WatchDog" kinda' clan. Good peeps. Tough peeps. Ya' dun mess with what has been written for us type peeps. We are good dogs. We protect our own. We die for you. We live for you. We kill for you. That kinda' etched in stone honour and mentality... sooooooooooooooooooo dunno if this fits the lore, but let this bunny know k?

By weredoggy do you mean were wolf or were dog? 'Cause if you mean the latter, we should talk, were-dogs are complicated.

Although interesting, that idea does not fit the lore for the universe. And in the future, could you use proper wordage/verbiage? It makes thought processes easier to read. (I had to read it twice.)

K, fiiiiiiiiiiiiine...

Hi, ramblingbard.

So, if my idea doesn't match the lore of this universe... then what is the archetype of the were-dog then? I mean, you have some really cool ideas regarding the were-dog, what caught my eye specifically was the fact that they could have like an ongoing bloodline since they could supress change during pregnancy. And then like there's the idea that some species might be able to suppress the infection spread to others. Those are the ideas I was most intrigued by :3

So, like what role do the differing "species" of were-creature impact upon this universe then? And how do they interact with each other? Like, is there inter-clan wars as well as opposing species-type of wars? Or like are they trying to subvert control from vampies?

The were-dog is just a hereditary lycanthropy thing. They are much weaker than more common lycanthropes for a lot of reasons like they can't partially shift, and they also have no resistance to a vampire's call if a vampire in their area can call dogs, and they also have no control over other animals of their type. Plus some more information on things that make them weaker, but they also have the benefits of not being tied to the moon's cycle and being able to hold off changing, and not having a noticeable aura that would make psychic humans feel uneasy.

There isn't really any impact of the various groups of werecreatures aside from there being behind the scenes politics that won't come up in this thread. The vampires and werecreatures don't have any wars as far as this RP is concerned. Vampires have no more control over the preternatural world than lycanthropes so there is nothing to subvert from them.

Okay, well in that case, I will not choose to play a weredog. I think this bunny will submit two character sheets then. One submission will be a were-creature, yes, perhaps a "werewolf." The other submission will be a magical/psychic human. Like, I am thinking that the power my magical/psychic human will have is "object reading." Depending upon the emotional/magical value of the item, the character will receive small reveals regarding the owner or owners of the item or snippets of major emotional/magical events that transpired while in the presence of the object.

I have read and I do understand the rules, yes, but I would like to submit two character sheets just in case like, another RolePlayer submits a character sheet that is far superior to my "werewolf" character submission. Is that reasonable?

Hey, sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you on this. I've been super brain dead working extended hours at my job this past week and it has really messed with my internal clock.

So, there is a power like that in the universe - touch clairvoyance. There is a draw back to that ability, which is that the power cannot be turned off; this can lead to psychosis being developed. Most touch clairvoyance have an issue with touching objects others have touched, but the fact they cannot choose when to use their ability can be corrected through the use of special gloves. I can provide more information, but what you've said is about on par with how it is for the universe with the added 'all the time' deal.
Hopefully that won't be too much of an issue for you developing the character.

Also, it's completely fine that you make up and submit the two different characters as a just in case scenario. Since I will only allow the one, and if no one else submits a character like either of yours, then we'll just go with which ever you would like to play most.

I don't know if this will change your decision to create a werewolf character, but my character is the officially outted lycanthrope - and she is a werewolf. I wanted to let you know that in case you would rather not play a werewolf as well, though there's no reason multiple werewolves will not be allowed. I'll be posting her sheet up soon (within the next twelve hours), if you were hoping to see her info before diving in.

Again, sorry for the several day delay in the response. Hopefully things will settle for me soon and I won't go so long without responding.

Name: Tala Warren
Age: 28
Gender: female
Occupation: Detective in RPIT

Type of Lycanthrope: Werewolf - second in command of Blue Rose Pard - Ulfric *leader* of the wolves within the Pard, honorary member of the Wind Racer Clan (local werewolves)
Are you an alpha? Yes
If yes - what alpha abilities do you have? Resist Transforming, Partial Shape Shifting, Hold a Vampire’s Gaze, Command Animals, Suppress Aura
Additionally - she can resist, and even interrupt, the call of a vampire and does so to help the Wind Racer Clan as well as her own wolves. She has enough control over her beast and enough power that she does not need to feed immediately after changing into a wolf, nor does she need to sleep after reverting back into a human but is simply tired afterward.
How did you become a lycanthrope? Survived an attack
Are you in the closet about being a lycanthrope? Partially - she does not spread the word, but those she works with know she is a lycanthrope

Physical Description: Human form - Extremely curly, dark grey verging on black colored, hair cascades down to about mid-back, which she usually wears up in a high ponytail to try to keep it out of her face - though a few strands curl down next to her almond shaped, amber colored eyes. She has a lithe body - not exactly petite, but slender like someone who works out regularly. Her skin is a soft almost mocha color - like the color of coffee with a decent amount of cream to it. She's average height - about 5'6 - and is attractive, though she downplays it while at work - preferring to just be pretty without makeup rather than attractive with make up. She wears a gold cross and a set of dog tags on the same chain - both of which belonged to her father - at all times.
She may not have tiny fangs instead of canines like some others that spent more time in animal form than human, and she does have a bit of a gravelly/growling tone to her voice if she doesn't pay attention to it - most times it sounds like a voice perfect for phone sex.
Animal form - Gray wolf

Biggest Fear: being kicked off the force for being a lycanthrope/being discriminated against for being a lycanthrope
Greatest Accomplishment: becoming a detective for the RPIT
Any strange eccentricities? twirls her hair around while she fills out paperwork/reads through something, thinks out loud - usually when she's trying to figure something out for a case
Any Bad Habits? drums her fingers on her desk when she's thinking, will put the bottom of pens in her mouth if she is thinking (combined with hair twirling)

Brief History: Tala grew up the oldest of three children in a biracial home - her father is Caucasian, her mother is African American. She always looked up to her father, who was a cop for most of his life. One day, while he was on a case, he was attacked by a lycanthrope - who he killed in self-defense. He survived the attack, only to transform into a lycanthrope the next month. No one was prepared for this occurrence, and nine year old Tala was the only one out of the others of her family to survive the attack; while she was in the hospital recovering, he turned himself in and was executed immediately.
For a long time, she feared her beast, and disappeared from the lycanthrope foster family that took her in after the attack. After years of being thought a runaway, she returned with others that had been abducted - no longer in fear of her beast and with a great level of control over it. She was adopted by her best friend’s family and finished her GED there. It was difficult, but she managed to keep her secret all through the police academy and even after passing the detective exam by the age of 24; ever since receiving her badge, she worked for RPIT. Two years ago, they had a run in with a rogue vampire that injured her and she came out to her partner before he could help stop the bleeding; word spread around the department, and enough higher ups found out and she has been passed over four times for promotions now, unless she were to sue and reveal to the entire force what she is.
