He is the Act Raiser, higher than even an Archmage. . . the most powerful wizard in the world is the Act Raiser. Act Raiser has been the most powerful for so many millenia that no one remembers his name. He is simply, "Act Raiser."
The Act Raiser
"Ah nal nathrack, uthe be bethutte, doth el envay. . ." The chanting from Act Raiser. He had been casting the same spell hours. . . the increasingly loud monotone resounded throughout the entire Academy of Magic. The most senior wizards of the Magic Academy did not even come close to learning such a powerful spell, but they knew that what Act Raiser was doing would be an attempt to stave off the horrible consequences of all the evil that surounded Spamatai. Act Raiser came from the West. . . far in the West. The others were natives to Spamatai, and thus, they knew more of the local customs and political circumstances than Act Raiser. Act Raiser however, knew of the greater threat on the horizon. He knew of wizards, the archmages of the west, times of knighthood, chivalry and long bows. These people, they knew farming, the way of Bushido, samurai, ninja and Sohei. . . .

Emperor Jorick was somewhat hesitant having a barbarian wise man running his foremost magical institution in the entire Empire of Spamatai, but then again, allowing The Act Raiser in the Empire as chief Vizier for a few years caused magical study to flourish at a very dramatic rate. Foreign magic, mostly, but magic nonetheless, and it allowed Jorick to withstand the assault from rebels such as Lord Alexander Sora. He had taken the Sacred Island it'self from the Empire, and held it with his magnificent modern army of gunslingers and canoneers, even as he cast off the Sohei from their sacred mountain temples, greatly angering Holmes, the Great Sensei of all the Sohei of the Empire.

Now, the rise of the Shogun has began to threaten Emperor Jorick. Shogun Elendra. . . she had enlisted powerful Ninja Clans, and had trained the greatest skilled and armed regular army in the whole of the land. She had stolen the secret of Sora's fire arms and cannons, and had even enlisted foreign mercenaries and pirates as a reinforcement to her already great army. Nominally, she worked for Jorick, but Jorick's strongmen, Samurai, and magicians, both foreign, and local seers, could not remain supreme as the army of Yamatai for long.

It was midnight. . . The spell had finally been triggered. . . a monstrous roar erupted in the heavens around the Imperial Palace, the Sacred Mountain of the East began a reverant chorus of holy chants, and all of Yamatai entered into a spirit Realm. . . .
Act Raiser came into Jorick's dreams. . . .

"Noble Emperor Jorick. . . I fear I have not much time for pleasantries." He gave a customary bow. "I have cut off Yamatai from the Material Plane. . . '
