After a few minutes what seemed like hours to him, the shift ended. Bruce was on his hands and knees breathing hard, sweat was beading down his face. He kept his gaze on the floor it had been a long time since he shifted while wounded.
Max walked over to him and kneeled down in front of him a worried expression on her face. "Are you alright?" She asked him concerned. When he was wounded before he`d been in human form so there was no risk of it getting worse when shifting. This time he`d been in wolf form and the was one of the things that worried her.
Bruce nodded,"yeah I'm alright tired and hurting but alright." He looked up, at max offering her a small smile. Even though he was tired, he did still have some humor in him. Though after a few minutes he collapsed on the floor groaning, a fever was building up.
Max quickly got on her knees and helped him up before sighing. "I told you not to push it." She said and helped him up before walking him over to the bed. Once he was in bed she felt his head. "Your starting to get a fever."
Bruce coughed, he groaned as he laid there. He hurt, the silver had done a big number on him. Sweat was beading down his face, he was letting out shaky breaths as he was burning up.
"I`m going to go get ice. Try to stay awake till I get back." Max said and walked to the door before going out. Going downstars she walked into the kitchen and made a bag of ice before wrapping it in a towel. She also got a glass of water. Walking back upstairs and going into the room. She went over to him and put the bag of ice on his forehead before going to her bag in the corner and taking out a bottle of painkillers she`d brought with her from home. Max took the apopriate amount out of the bottle for him to take and walked over to him. "Take these they`ll help relieve some pain and break the fever."
Bruce only nodded, he took the pills from her. He grabbed the glass of water drinking from it and swallowing the pills. He drank the rest of the water, before laying back onto his back. He closed his eyes as the fever was still raging, he tried to sleep as best as he could with the fever.
Max sat down in the chair next to the bed and leaned back in it. You both always surprise me. Sena said in her head. What do you mean surprise you? Max asked back wanting to understand why she thought that way. Well you both haven`t known each other long and yet you act like you`ve known each other for a really long time. Sena explained. Well I guess that`s just how we are I guess. Max replied.
Next day the fever on Bruce finally broke, he groaned as he woke up. Sitting up he looked around the room and finally spotted max in the chair next to the bed. He smiled a bit, getting to his feet he put a blanket over her before going downstairs. "Are the humans still scouting our territory?" Justin nodded, "yah they are looks like were going to have another fight on our hands the other packs are starting to show up to."
Max slept quietly in the chair upstairs having finally fallen asleep an hour of so after her conversation with Sena. Hannah was cooking breakfast on the stove seeing as everyone was either up or starting to get up. She`d seen Luna yesterday with Peter and was still confused about that one. There had yet to be a child in this pack and then all of a sudden there`s one here with no explanation to the rest of them.
Bruce had sat down In one of the chairs, by the table. He had his leather jacket back on and after taking the pain pills his side wasn't hurting anymore. With the bond between him and max he knew max was still asleep up stairs he sighed. "Alright so I'm guessing people want an explanation well peter had a mate human mate she left him a few years back and she gave no word that she was carrying peters child from what I can Greer is that she got really sick and couldn't pull through an she sent luna here to be with her father."
"So now his daughter is staying here." Hannah said and walked over to Bruce setting the food in front of him that was now on a plate. "Plus the name his mate gave her is a bit to the point isn`t it. Does she share his lycan blood?" She asked going back and putting covers on the food to make sure none of it went cold before anyone could get it. Turning around she walked back over to lean on the counter while talking to Bruce.
Bruce shrugged, "I don't know I never really knew her so I can't put my opion on that really." He started eating some food, "plus from what I can get out of him when he's in a good mood was Sarah cared for the old pack he was in and then one day she just left not a single word to any of them." He went back to his food after that.
"Pretty vague explanation on his mate. Alright then, I guess all of us are going to have to get used to having a kid around here. It was bound to happen someday anyway." Hannah said and shrugged the answer to all of it being fairly simple. Max woke up and looked around before yawning. She noticed Bruce wasn`t in bed and got up off the chair putting the blanket neatly on the bed before going downstairs.
Bruce shrugged, before finishing off the food. "It's vague but I don't know why but I think she had her reasons to leave or something of the rather." He put his arms on the table, "just wish she gave him an explanation when she left, or something."
"She probably had her reasons for not telling him or giving him an explanation." Hannah said and looked at him before looking away. "Speaking of relationships how are you and Max doing?" She asked not looking at him. Max stood against the wall behind the archway to the kitchen listening to the conversation curiously. They say curiousity killed the cat in this situation if something bad had been happening Max would assume that statement was true.
Bruce shrugged, "I guess were doing fine besides of course me being wounded and all." He already knew max was behind him because of how the stairs creak under her weight a lot of the people in the pack were heavier than her so he could easily identify who was coming from downstairs.
Hannah nodded slowly. "Well I guess that`s good." She said and stood up straight. "I`m going to go see if anyone needs any help with patrol." Hannah said before walking out of the room as Max walked in. "You know it`s not fair when you can sense me across a room." Max said and sighed as she walked up to him. "For a minute I thought I was going to get a good statement there."
Bruce only laughed, "I'm not a person good with words really max." He sat back in his chair, "you'll get used to it trust me because once you learn fully on how to use your senses you'll be able to do the same thing with me max trust me on that."
Max hugged him before sitting in the seat next to him. "I wish I could now, last night I felt hopeless watching you in so much pain. I wished a knew how to take it away." Sje said honestly. "Plus then none of you will be able to trick me. I feel like a lot of you could do that when you don`t."
