Claire rolled her eyes at him. "You want to know why I was stealing from you? Or at the time from whoever the hell owned that treasure?" She asked, turning to face him now, anger in her eyes. "I did it because after my parents died, I couldn't afford to keep up with payments on the house. It was all I had left of them, my father build it for my mother when she was pregnant with me. I lived my entire life in that house and the thought of losing it and someone else changing it or tearing it down pissed me off." She said and turned back to face the ocean.

"So I went looking for money, a job, anything. That's when I stumbled on the cove. I saw all the treasure and no one watching it, so I took it. Free game, you know." She said, not looking back towards him.

"Circumstances can be tough. Sometimes actions we believe 'r the best at the time prove to make things worse fer the future." Ruben explained, "I don't know 'ow much ya took of me treasure, lassie. I don't know just how much you hate me, though I don't doubt it's a lot. But I do know that yer part of me crew now. And unless you want to make it miserable fer yerself, ya best take care o' yerself. I'm not gonna harm ya anymore unless ya disrespect me again. I know you're a sassy lass, 'n I like that about ya. So let's move on forwerd and why don't ya try to have a good time, Claire?" Ruben patted her shoulder before making his way back into the cabin for some more food. He hoped she'd take his words into consideration, but there was really no way to make her think twice about it, and that frustrated him slightly.

Claire didn't look back at Ruben, but just shrugged his hand off her shoulder. "Yeah, we'll see.." She whispered under her breath after he left. She took another bite of the apple and threw it into the water, chewing the mouthful she had up slowly. She looked up overhead at the clouds, it looked like a storm was approaching. The dark grey clouds moved towards the moon to cover it, which would leave them in darkness except for the lanterns. Sighing, Claire turned around and walked below deck. She had been assigned a room, all to herself giving the fact she was female, and laid down on the bed. The ship swayed and rocked, and it was surprisingly soothing and soon enough, the young girl had fallen asleep.

Ruben awoke very early that morning to the ringing of the bell. "All hands on deck! It's a big fuckin' storm!" He heard one of them call, and he could feel the jolting of the ship. He leapt up onto his feet, no time to get dressed. He merely pulled on a pair of pants and made his way out, pushing his way through on the ship. The ground was slick with a mix of rain and sea water, the winds were heavy, and a majority of the crew were running around in a helpless panic. He began bellowing orders, and they seemed to calm in a sense of duty, doing as he ordered. He took to the wheel, his grip tight as he tried to steer his beloved ship through the stormy waters.

Claire blinked the sleep out of her eyes as she slowly sat up from the bed. The ship was rocking and swaying hard. She threw on some clothes and ran up on the upper deck. The cloud was dark and dangerous, rain pour down, slapping against the wooden floors and the waves looked nasty, and they weren't being nice to this ship, either. Ruben was behind the wheel, trying to control it. Surprisingly, most of the crew was calm, and here she was panicking, not sure what to do. She ran towards where they were trying to control the sails, she could help there. It was something easy and not too man-like.

She grabbed onto the rope, keeping a firm grip on it. A wave clashed into the side of the ship, the side she was standing on. She let out a scream when the waves hit her, causing her to let go of the rope. She slipped back and flipped off the ship, hitting the freezing water, having been taken under instantly. She fought her way back up, coughing for some air, but the waters were too strong and she was taken under again.
