"I'm going out for a bit, don't worry about me." Matt says to Kate as he opens the door to the closet and steps out, makeshift spear in hand. The weapon, three yardsticks taped together with a kitchen knife affixed to the end, had held up surprisingly well throughout the fighting. Although it was stained with blood, the weapon still felt solid.

The hallway was clear of moving dead for the moment. He thought he might have heard movement coming from the left wing of the MST area, but it was hard to hear over the rustling of the apparently many undead shifting below. Might as well quiet them down... Matt carefully descends the stairs. Despite the dim lighting, he could make out two zombies milling around on the landing. He taps his foot to draw them a bit closer before jumping down and to the left of the pair, spearing one zombie through the head as he passes and driving it to the tile floor. The moment he lands, Matt draws a knife and spins, plunging the blade through the underside of the second zombie's chin. He yanks the blade free and stabs it between the eyes once more for good measure.

You had NO IDEA that there were THIS MANY cokes behind under his desk.
Seriously, just looking at them made you want to get diabetes.
Too bad they were all plastic bottles, you could have gotten some sharp edges from the glass.
You had been looking for thirty minutes now, grabbing things that could be useful, but you haven't been able to find anything long or sharp enough to use as a weapon yet. If only the power and wifi worked so you could figure out how to use the TV's in the room, but for now they were just dead weight. I rather not die by a TV falling on my head as I tried to take it down. Would be funny, but rather not.
You did manage to unhook one of the chalkboards down. Maybe you could just use sheer strength to make your way around the zombies and unlock the chem room while hiding behind the board.
Yeah right, like I can take a hundred zombies down by myself.
At that moment you heard glass breaking and you whipped around. A corpse-like hand, missing a bone or too, gripped the broken window.
FUCK.
You took a nearby calculus textbook and hurled it through the window. Immediately, the door stopped rattling and you heard a thud.
You know what? I can take down a hundred zombies. I HAVE to be able to take down a hundred zombies.
You prop one of the chalkboard board against the door and balanced textbooks on it so it was hard to tip it over. There was a squeaking noise and you found the monkey slingshot that Mr. D usually used to wake up sleeping students in class.
PERFECT.

You realize Adam is staring blankly into the distance, you slowly stand up and realize that his arm bleeding and that he looks a little pale. Then he attacks you out of no where. You quickly shove him back after a small brawl and grab your improvised halberd and somewhat cleanly chop of his head. Shit, Adam lost it and now we are one down.

You open your eyes to the sight of the ceiling above. It had been a while since you've had this much time to think and not actively planning, preparing, or fighting against the freak zombie outbreak. I should plan accordingly to the future though. Move forward without regrets and such. Meaning...I'll have to say that to him. Fun. But it's better to be rejected than to live life wondering what could have been. Your stomach growls. I should probably go to the cafeteria and find something to eat. You inwardly sigh at all the random things you have to take care of and re-equip all of your armor and weaponry.

Once you make your way out of the auditorium, you speed past the initial two zombies in the blue room and slam into a third in the hallway leading to the lobby. The zombie flies back several feet and you nimbly step around it and continue racing towards the cafeteria. You hear plea for help from behind you from a student exiting the band hallway and being pursued by a horde of zombies. You glare at the idiotic student, presumably an underclassman with no common sense whatsoever, I can't deal with that amount of zombies right now. You take a quick second to examine him and notice scratches and wounds all over his body. Even if I did help, he wouldn't survive. Facing him, you brandish your katana and say coldly, "Go back to the Ninth Grade hallway. Or I'll end you here and now. Humans are easier to kill than zombies you know." The underclassmen's eyes widen at your threat and quickly switches directions, drawing most of the horde away from you. Two or three zombies still pursue you, but at least it wasn't the eight or so that followed that kid. You outpace the shambling zombies with ease and accidentally overshot the cafeteria a bit since you were somewhat uneasy at your actions before. In the end, he was going to die eventually. There was nothing I could've done to save him. Nothing at all. You shake your head sadly at the thought. But noises coming from the MST stairwell jolt you out of your thoughts. Sounds like someone fighting...I should probably go check that out.

The bottom floor of MST was a mess. What looked like at least a dozen zombies were milling around down there, coming from the left. You could also smell electricity and smoke wafting from that direction. This must have been close to where the explosion occurred. It knocked out the power, and also allowed the zombies to enter. You stab your spear into the stomach of the recently killed zombie and draw your two knives. With that many zombies, you'd lack the room to swing your spear effectively. With a slight bit of trepidation, you clang your knife on the banister, drawing the attention of the zombies below. Hopefully no zombies come from above. If they did, you'd be trapped on the stairs, a rather grim prospect. Still, you had confidence in your handiwork and strength. You shouldn't have anything to fear as long as you deal with the zombies swiftly and methodically.

Three zombies start up the staircase, one of them tripping as it mounts the steps. Two more follow behind, but are impeded by the fallen and now flailing zombie. You plant your foot on the closest zombie's sternum and push, but it leans back against the zombie behind it and stops. Their figures revealed by the better lighting on the staircase, Matt realizes that these zombies were mostly adults, not students. You plunge the knife downwards and through the skull of the zombie under your foot before kicking backwards. The corpse is pushed aside by the zombie below and you prepare yourself for the next threat. Lunging, you thrust your blade forward and into the zombie's eye socket. The blade catches and you lose your grip on the hilt as the body falls to the side. Two more zombies traipse up the stairs and approach you at once. Swapping your remaining knife to your right hand, you grab the leftmost zombie around the throat and use it to balance yourself on one leg as you kick away the second zombie. You're hit by some wild swings, but your armor shrugs off the blows, allowing you to drive your knife into the zombie's temple. You repeat the process with the second zombie as it gets up, then push away its corpse with as much force as you can muster. The cadaver entangles the next few zombies long enough for you to retrieve your knife and gain some distance. I shouldn't have done this on my own afterall.

Five more zombies fall to a frenzy of slashes before you stumble back up the stairs, gasping for breath, covered in blood that wasn't your own.

You start to back away from Adam's decapitated body and start to realize that this is going to end badly unless you can get some long term provisions. You start to walk toward the cafeteria side of the media center. As you get in to the hallway, you here a fight in the MST stairwell and hesitate for a second. Why would anyone think of going straight to the...who ever it is must know what they are doing. You start to walk toward the cafeteria to see what is going on outside.

[Phillip}

Phillip has been asleep in the secondary art room the entire time. He always knew his motto would come in handy. "When in a zombie apocalypse, sleep to outlast everyone," he mutters to himself. He had been awakened by the noise outside. Someone had probably fought a zombie (and maybe a bomb exploded?), but he wasn't willing to go outside to find out who had won. Instead, he used the resources available to him to arm himself first. It took the longest time, but he was able to make a trio of meter-long stretchy ropes by weaving the obscene amount of rubber bands available to him. He grabbed some meter sticks and cracked them at different intervals so that they made a curve when he taped them together. Attached to a bow, the wooden curve made the first weapon.
Phillip attached the second rubber rope to a large paperweight. The tape was very strong, and seemed to be able to hold under great stress. This whip/ball-and-chain would be the second weapon.
Phillip tucked the third rope away in his bag along with the rest of his things. He also stuffed his backpack with as many taped-together pencils as he could fit. Arrows were necessary if he were to be using a bow. He took out a packet of apples he had been storing. He knew hoarding snacks in his bag would come in handy some day. With a bow on his back and a rubber band whip in hand, he opened the door into uncharted territory: the back of the 9th grade hallway.

[Irene & Matt]

As you got closer to the stairwell, you spy a Matt. Covered in blood. Hope none of that is his...It'd be problematic if he died right now. Just a bit. Seeing several zombies attacking him, you rush over to help. "Are you okay?" you ask Matt.

“Yeah, just a bit tired. Those zombies are a higher level.”

You're relieved to hear that Matt wasn't injured. "How are they higher level? This isn't some sort of videogame."

“Adults are among the students, probably from outside. We should come back with more people. I think the explosion happened by the parking lot, knocking out the power and allowing zombies to get in.”

"That would make sense. How many more people do you think we'd need?"

“Two or three fighters, and one or two to seal up the exit.”

"We could also create a distraction to lessen the amount of zombies we have to face. They seem to be responsive to noise and the prospect of easy prey."

“We’ll have to eventually kill off all of the zombies in here though. More zombies running around will just lead to more work later. Hmm but sealing up the building takes priority.
...
Who will be the decoy?”

"We could grab a person that's dying, shove them outside of the breach, and that'll attract some of the zombies in the school outside again." Wow Irene, just a minute earlier you were upset about that kid and now you're suggesting this?
This is for the sake of our survival. And it's not like anyone could save them at that point. I'm just making best use of resources.
Since when were humans lives merely
resources? You don't have the right to force them to do anything.
I'm not forcing them to do anything. It's their choice in the end.
You know very well what you're actually doing.
It's a necessity at this point.
You disgust me.

“That might just bring more of them inside. Also, we can’t even get to the breach, there are still zombies down there.

As if to prove his point, a zombie clumsily appears on the landing and begins to climb the MST stairs.

Hiding her internal struggle, Irene replied, "We could unlatch a window in one of the classrooms and throw the decoy out. That would attract them." You were never able to decide whether the mind or heart was more important. And this is what happens when you can't. Grimacing slightly, Irene walks over to the zombie and roughly shoves it with her shield, sending it toppling down the first set of stairs.

“That’ll work. I’m not sure everyone will be willing to go along with that though. And it’ll make things harder with the others if they find out.”

"I can probably get us a volunteer. That way less people will object." So he cares more about appearances than the actual actions themselves..

“Who the heck would volunteer for that?”

"Don't worry about that. I think you forgot about my manipulation skills."

“Alright. Let’s go gather what we need then. We need to use the elevator to get the supplies for sealing the doors downstairs, but the power’s out.
...
Ugh I guess we’d have to carry it down then.”

"Should I accompany you? It's probably better if we stick together from here on out rather than me wandering and acting independently."

“I suppose. I don’t want to let any more zombies come up from there though.”

"Who will guard the stairwell? My stamina is pretty bad."

“Hmm Kate could. I’ll ask her to.”

"Alright, let's go and get those supplies. And if we find a critically injured person, let me deal with them."

Okay, here goes nothing.
You took the slingshot with the taped coke bottle cap, and inserted a few smarties. You then took the lighter and soon, the smarties were crackling with flames.
Right at that moment, you heard the textbooks holding the chalkboard down hit the ground with a thud. You whipped around and shot.
The zombie that was reaching over the chalkboard had its head go up in flames, but it still reached over.
Crap. I need something bigger. I have to get to the chemistry room.
You quickly slipped the lighter, bag of smarties, some coke bottles, and the monkey slingshot into my backpack. Keeping one foot on the board, you put on the bag while grabbing the flagpole near the front of the classroom, which luckily still had the pointy end.
Here goes nothing.
You lowered the board to see the zombie on fire slump onto the floor. The other zombies easily stepped over it and lunged.
You quickly dodged the arms and thrust the spear into one’s stomach, which didn’t seem to stop the zombie. Fuck. How do I stop these things??
As it lunged again, stuck in a bent position, you grasped the flag pole to pull it out, and restabbed the zombie, this time through the forehead.
This time, it stopped moving.
So it’s through the head-no time to think BREAK FOR THE CHEM ROOM
You grabbed the chalkboard and with your flag in front, started running.
If there’s one thing you’ll appreciate about swimming, it’s that you learned how to push people out of the way.
The zombies went down like dominos. You easily stepped over them as they collapsed due to the chalkboard. You finally reached the chem room, and set the chalkboard behind you to unlock the door.
Just as you got it unlocked and turned to grab your chalkboard, you saw a zombie hand one inch away from your face.
Your vocal chords activated once more. And this time, with a shrill scream.

Okay, you usually don’t lose your cool. When your friends “tase” you, you don’t even jump.
But the smell of rotting flesh was enough to make you lose your sense.
”SHIT!” You cursed aloud once you realized your mistake and you swung the chalkboard to deflect the zombie’s hand. And now they were increasing in site.
”These motherfuckers,” you muttered as you left the chalkboard and sprinted into the chem room. Once inside, you slammed the door shut and locked it. For extra reassurance, you took some desks and stacked them against the door.
As you took some more desks to reinforce the other doors, you suddenly realized how much you’ve cursed that day. And suddenly the reality of everything comes crashing down.
So in the midst of the empty chemistry classroom, with a desk in arms and zombies swarming to the door you went through, you cry.
Because you realized you recognized the zombie that reached out for you.
The first best friend you had made when you moved and started going to this school, and who you stopped talking to after you two stopped having classes together.
She was the first one to reach out for you. Now what have you done?

You cautiously enter the cafeteria and look around
Well, never thought that this place would be safeish from zombies...
You continue to walk toward the far side of the cafeteria and look out the windows.
One or two people might be able to make it out to the path and try to push to Giant and scavenge some more food and tools to shore up here until we work out what the long term plan is.
You walk back toward the media center and glance back toward the MST stairwell and hear people talking.
You slowly start walking toward the MST wing to investigate the possibility of people in that part of the building.

[Irene & Matt]

A scream pierces the air. You look wide-eyed at Matt and state urgently, “We should go help.” You reach for his wrist.

“You don’t need to drag me!” Matt says back with an indignant huff. He grips his spear and runs toward the source of the noise.

Irene grins at Matt’s response, “But it’s fun!” She follows closely behind Matt.

He turns the corner to find a cluster of zombies pushing their way into the chem room.

Once Irene stumbles on the same view she asks, “How do you want to tackle this? There are quite a few of them.”

“I’ll kill them, and if I get tired, you can kill some.”

“This suspiciously sounds like Sword Art Online right now. Except it’s “‘Spear and Sword, with The Occasional Baseball Bat Art Online’. But sure.”

“I wish. Then I’d be gaining experience for all of these kills.” Matt takes a step forward and slams his spear down on the zombie at the door, carving deep into its head. He pulls the blade back with a slick squish as the zombies focus on the new threat.

“Hey, I wish it was a game too-- I’d be broken OP in it. But it was a death game too, remember? And my personality in games would not be helpful to anyone else,” Irene remarks calmly, watching Matt kill a zombie in front of him.

“This is basically a death game, except you don’t get stronger after killing things.” Matt responds as he forces a zombie backwards with a thrust to the chest, knocking and pushing back the others behind it.

“You don’t want this to be a game. What would happen is similar to what I do in Super Smash Brothers. Kill my own teammates before I kill the enemy,” Irene replies, narrowing her eyes.

“That’s only if friendly fire is off.” Matt retorts, stabbing a zombie through the face.

“But you know me, I always play with friendly fire on. And in the real world, there is no friendly fire protection.”

“You know, I’m getting uncomfortable with you behind me while we talk about this.” Matt crushes a third zombie’s skull into the wall with a horizontal swing before backing up.

“You don’t trust me? And don’t worry, I don’t think of real life as a game so everyone should be fine. You’re also one of the few people I’d probably never hurt either so...yeah.”

“Okay?” Preoccupied, Matt lunges forward and pierces the skull of a fourth zombie.

Irene sighs and shakes her head. Wow, he’s dense. “You seem to be on a roll though,” she comments.

“Even if this isn’t a game, it’s still fun.” Matt replies, struggling to pull his spear back out, which was stuck fast in the corpse. Seeing the remaining zombies approaching, he gives up and uses a knife to kill the rest, angling the spear and corpse like a barrier.

“Nice job, although I was worried when your spear got stuck. And I don’t know. Is it fun to always have your life in danger? Where everyone you care about can die--or even worse, become a zombie and attack you? That’s not my definition of fun.”

“I find it fun. It’s a thrill.”

“Is it also because you enjoy testing out your abilities? Because normally, it probably wouldn’t be socially acceptable to see how easily or well you can kill someone. But the zombies here are the perfect targets.”

“Sure.”

“Alright then.” Interesting… Irene walks over to the classroom and knocks on the door lightly. “We’ve come to help, let us in please.”

You hear a scream coming from MST, maybe the chem lab.
Crap
You run toward the chem lab throwing caution to the wind and trip over a few larger zombie corpses
Welp, this is going to get difficult if we can't lock down the main breach in the building...
You glance down the back hall of the MST and see Matt and Irene.
You start to walk quickly down toward them.
