"Why did... never mind. We need to focus." Andrew turned around and advanced deeper into the temple. He found the source of the light, a glowing jade chalice set into a long-dried font. "Hmm. A liturgical vessel..." He reached down and picked it up. As soon as he did so, the statues against the walls started moving and attacking!

Saria's eyes snapped open and her grin turned feral as she started defending him with swipes from her blades, spinning them deftly and growling like an angry bear. "DO. NOT. TOUCH." she yelled, when one got near the human.

Andrew let out a fireball, blasting one of the statues nearest to Saria, blasting it to pieces. A second statue managed to hit him, but the shield she had put around him absorbed the blow. He turned around and hit the other statue with his magic sword, slicing off its arms.

Saria snarled and took out another, slicing it in half and hopping over to stand by Andrew. "We shouldn't have messed with that, I believe. Are you ok?" the woman was concerned, but she kept her eyes on the remaining statues. One was advancing with a hammer.

"We just need to destroy these things. Not a good time to talk." He blasted a gout of ice at one of the statues, freezing it in place before it could harm Saria.

There were four other statues, none of which were too powerful for them to handle.

Saria let out a cackle and jumped onto one, pounding on it with the blunt end of her weapon. She actually had a lot of fun in fights with things that didn't have souls and minds and such. It felt ok, though fighting a person, creature or animal made her unhappy.

Soon, the last of the statues were down. "Alright, that was a good warmup. I think. Not too dangerous. Thanks for the shield. I think it's broken now, but it helped me out earlier. Save me a blow or two. And we got a chalice from it."

Saria stood, crouched and balancing on the tips of her boots, on a pile of rubble made from the statues, grinning happily. "That was quite fun. I hope I get to do it again. Are you alright?" She tilted her head to the side again, observing him with a side-ways grin.

"I'm fine, thanks" Andrew explained. "How about you? We need to move on. I think that was one of the easier things we will do today."

The Kionen jumped down and landed next to him in a full stretch. Cackling again, she followed him and looked for more magical energies. Crouching, as usual, she sniffed the ground for a trail to another artifact. She slithered along the road and tried to find something interesting for them to investigate.

"Now where are you go- never mind" he followed Saria, getting the idea that she may have been kind and powerful, but that she was rather eccentric. It didn't matter to him, though. He still valued her as an ally.

The tiny woman was looking for something, then her nose picked up the scent of a weak but important smelling magic. Popping to her feet, she explained and waited for his answer.

"Weak-smelling magic? Magic doesn't have a scent. It... never mind." Andrew was already coming to get used to her eccentricities. "I suppose it must be in this tomb. It looks like a tomb at least." Indeed, there was a ramp leading down into a burial chamber.

She backed away. She had been ok in the dim light of the temple, but this deep darkness made her VERY nervous. "Do we...HAVE to go down there?" and was shaking a little. She COULD use a light spell, but it was tiring.

"Well, you said you detected some power from down there, so I don't see why not. Look, we can open the door, let in some light. Or I can increase the power of my light spell. I'm sure we can handle whatever is down there" Andrew assured her.

The feral woman narrowed her eyes and crouched, sniffing again. "Um...ok. We'll do that. I'm not afraid of creatures...I just...don't like the dark. It...I don't know why, but it makes me VERY nervous."

"Then I will increase my light" Andrew said. He held out his right hand again, and sure enough, a larger ball of yellow light emerged. "There. That should keep us lit up for whatever is in there."

Saria nodded, even though she was blind, she could sense the dark and it always bothered her. With his light spell, she sneaked down the ramp and went into the deep underground tomb.

Andrew opened the door, finding it curiously unlocked. The tomb was already lit by crystal light fixtures on the wall. The tomb itself was empty, and there were signs that a previous team of adventurers had already been through the large circular chamber and had already cleaned it out. A bit anticlimactic.

Saria growled in annoyance, sitting next to Andrew in an odd way while grumbling. "I guess I smelled the crystals. Sorry."
