Chapter 1: The Arrow Part I

Krinos' story? Many believe it started when he was still completely human, before the universe awoke to magic, while Earth still existed. While technically true, he did not go by Krinos then, he had a human name. That name has become lost to history, however, the true birth of Krinos was days after Earth was obliterated. His story begins on a planet called Hu-Nam, a unique planet that is completely overgrown with forests. So overgrown, that there was only one place to build a city, and it's the only city on the planet. You may be asking who I am, all will be revealed in due time. As for Krinos, let me tell you about that fateful day...

"She's...singing...I hear her...my...my mother! I hear her singing that song!" a young man exclaimed, turning and bolting for the ship's ramp controls. A blue haired woman turned as he did so, "No! You can't go out there! It's not your mother!" she called after him, attempting to pursue him. Another woman got in the way, the young man's childhood friend, Melody Kinto. Her emerald eyes pierced through the woman, "And how do you know it's not his mother, huh?" she asked, suspicious of her now. The older woman pushed past her, "Look, I don't have time to explain! We can't let him get to the temple!" she replied, bolting down the ramp after the boy. Unfortunately, they were unable to stop him, the temple coming into view. There were three figures there, one was the temple's guardian, another was the boy. The final one was unknown to all but the blue haired woman, Orion... she thought to herself. The man named Orion had a typical bow strapped to his back, along with a dagger at his side, he appeared no older than the boy beside him.

Truth was, Orion was a couple years older, and had experience in fighting. The boy, however, had no weapons and zero experience in fighting. The guardian stood before them, "I see you two have come to try and claim the Chaos Power for your own. Many have tried and failed, only the worthy may obtain such power, it is up to the Goddess Sari to determine who is worthy. If you feel you are brave enough, then step through the doors, but know if you are not worthy, you will be thrown from the temple and never be allowed to set foot in it again." he told them both, glancing at the two women who just appeared. Orion and the boy nodded before stepping inside, the doors sealing shut behind them. Within the temple stood pillars of black and white, they represented good and evil, the source of what made the Chaos Power what it was. As the pair made their way deeper, a large tablet came into view, the writing on it was in an unknown language. In front of the tablet was an orb, it had black and white swirls running around inside it. It began to glow the closer they got, "Show me what is in your heart. Show me your balance. Show me your ambitions. Show me the real you." A male's voice came from the orb. "Show me your compassion. Show me your justice. Show me your righteousness. Show me the real you." a female's voice then said.

The orb lifted off the pedestal it was on and stopped between the two, "Too much Darkness. You will destroy. Unworthy." the female voice said to the boy. "Too much Light. You will fail. Unworthy." the male voice said to Orion. Angry, Orion reached for the orb, taking hold of it. The boy reached for it as well, but to try and get it away from Orion, eventually causing a struggle over it. The orb, unable to contain the power within itself, shattered. The Chaos Power flowed from the orb and into the tablet, "From Darkness and Light, two will fight." the female voice said, "They will sleep for A Thousand Years, then we will know our greatest fears." the male continued. "For The Destroyer of Worlds comes" both voices said. The tablet cracked and collapsed, the Chaos Power flowing into both males. Standing, Orion noticed his appearance had changed, he now had black hair and black feathered wings. Along with the physical change, his bow had altered to that of a white and black one, though it had a sinister look to it. The dagger had also changed, it was now curved and had a deep purple blade, "You! You did this! Why?! That power was mine! You should've just let me have it!" he shouted at the boy. The boy shook his head clear, his appearance hadn't changed, he still had red hair and brown eyes. However, he had a white and black longsword now strapped to his side, "It's not like I planned this! Besides, you shouldn't have reached for the orb in the first place! It said we weren't worthy! So really, it's your fault!" he shot back.

Orion grabbed his bow and went to reach for an arrow, "You take that back, you little brat!" he demanded, his fingers grasping an arrow. The boy drew his sword, though the weight of it caused the end of it to rest on the floor, as he couldn't lift it yet. "No! It's your fault and you know it! We both need to give this power back, it's not ours to keep!" the boy replied, trying to lift the sword. Orion narrowed his eyes, "Then die!" he said, letting the arrow fly from his bow. The bow had amplified the arrow's speed and power, however, the sword in the boy's hand automatically reacted to the attack and raised itself into a defensive position. The arrow hit the blade, the force causing the boy to fly backwards out of the temple doors and onto the ground outside, the arrow dropping to the ground harmlessly. The guardian moved away from the blue haired woman he had been talking to, "I see you have been ejected from the temple, I am sorry, but you are unworthy." he said to the boy. The guardian turned to Orion, seeing his bow, "I see you have the Chaos Power, it is you who is destined to save the universe from total annihilation, Orion Darg." he told him. The boy stood, "That can't be true! He stole it! The orb said we were both unworthy, but he grabbed it anyways!" he told everyone, lifting the sword in his hand.

The guardian looked inside the temple and saw the broken orb and tablet, "No! The Prophecy! It's come true! One of you is destined to destroy the universe! I must not allow this to happen!" he said, holding a hand out to his side. A massive sword appeared in it, "Bastu, it's time!" he said. The blade began to glow a golden color, a face finally appearing on it when the glow faded, "Sleep. Sealed for eternity. You will never awaken. Remain in an eternal slumber. By the will of Sari, I seal you both for eternity, to preserve the universe!" the blade spoke, a female voice coming from it. Orion saw something forming on the surface of the sword after that, causing him to take off in the direction of the spaceport. There was a beam that came from the tip of the blade, though it only managed to scratch Orion before he disappeared out of sight. The boy looked at the guardian, "If there's a chance I'll destroy the universe, then I won't run. I'll accept this fate, to sleep eternally." he said, sheathing his sword. The guardian looked at the boy, "You are willing to give up your life? All to ensure the safety of the universe?" he asked. The boy nodded, "There might be another way. You and Orion will sleep for a thousand years, it is already written. Orion will be lost somewhere in space by the time the spell takes effect, since he didn't get hit directly. You, however, can be put somewhere safe. We will watch over you until it is time for you to be awoken." he told the boy.

The boy looked at him, "But what if I'm the one who's to destroy the universe?" he asked. The guardian closed his eyes, "We will worry about that when the time comes." he replied. The boy nodded, "I forgot to ask, what would your name happen to be now?" the guardian asked him. The boy looked at him, confused, "What do you mean?" he asked. The guardian opened his eyes and smiled, "You are no longer a mere human, you are more than that. As such, you need a new name, one that you like." he told him. The boy thought for a few minutes, "Krinos Solstice." he responded. The guardian nodded, "From henceforth, you shall be known as Krinos Solstice then. You may call me Tyme." he told him. Krinos nodded, "Well then, Tyme, shall we put me to sleep?" he asked. The man nodded, glancing at the blue haired woman, who was rubbing the back of her neck. Tyme then looked at Melody, "You will sleep as well, though you will be put into cryostasis and monitored for those thousand years." he told her. He finally looked at the blue haired woman, "As for you, I already know everything. Krinos and Melody will need a familiar face and help in the future, and given who you are, you will also be at the facility." he said, though he left out how she would survive the thousand years. It was going to be obvious when the pair awoke, but for now, these sort of things had to be kept secret. The universe wouldn't be ready for it, not for another couple centuries at any rate.

The sealing and cryostasis went off without a hitch at the secret facility in an unknown part of space, "Will this place be safe from 'them' for the next thousand years?" the blue haired woman asked. Tyme looked at the crystalline body of Krinos, "Yes. However, we already know your presence in this timeline has altered things, Forsythia. I understand that me from your timeline sent you back to fix things, but you can't let your feelings for him blind you. You have a mission, and his fate is to be with Melody in this timeline, remember that." he told her before leaving. Forsythia looked at Krinos, "If only it were that easy to just forget, father." she muttered to herself. She sighed, turning from the crystal and leaving the room. She headed to the training area, where she would go every day to ensure her skills were sharp, along with keeping her weaponry updated. Not that they needed to be updated, since she was really the only one at the facility with advanced weapons. However, she had insisted she couldn't alter the timeline any further by allowing their scientists to study her weapons. After some debates, an agreement was reached, and she soon became head of security. Despite her new responsibilities, she always made it a point to check in on Krinos every day, it was the only time she ever got to see him. Was she still in love with him? Yes, that much was obvious.
