Jenga was half a step behind her, not bothering to glance over his shoulder as he heard the fast approaching steps of the Marshall. He leapt after Roman, tackling the other when they hit the other roof top in an attempt to get the message pad from her. A moment later Victor had jumped after them and grabbed for the pad as well,

Roman growled, wriggling free of the two big men in the confusion, pad firmly in hand, and made off with it. She was quickly formulating a plan. She knew that Narcissus would continue to follow her, and so would the marshall.
If she timed it just right, then she could discreetly give Narcissus the pad, and he could take it back to the employer. The marshall wouldn't be any the wiser, and he'd still think that she had it, and then she could keep the guy running while Narcissus could get away...

It had a lot of kinks, and there was no guarantee that Narcissus would give her any credit if she made it work, but she'd rather have her life than die trying for some petty money.

"Get off!" Jenga said as he tried to get free of the Marshall, eventually managing to slip away but leaving behind his bag and coat before running after Roman again.

Victor was no idiot, slinging the bag over one shoulder but leaving behind the coat as he continued after them. There was a startled question from Orion and he quickly told the dragon what was happening, before leaping over another alley gap in pursuit of the thieves

Roman glanced back to see what the situation was. Perfect. Soon, Narcissus would catch up to her, then...she would enact her really bad plan.

As soon as Narcissus was just about to overrun her, she quickly shoved the pad into his hands, though discreetly, and continued running.

Roman didn't answer, but continued to run down the street. Eventually, she split off into an alley, and turned another corner, then another, weaving as difficult a pattern as she could to try to rid herself of her pursuer, but more importantly, to give Narcissus more time.

Victor soon got fed up with the weaving and dodging so instead he lengthened his stride and leapt forward, tackling the thief and pinning them to the ground. "Move along!". He shouted in annoyance to staring pedestrians as he dragged Roman up to his feet and down a side alley in a vice like grip.

"How should I know? Who knows where that guy's gonna take it. Maybe he'll keep it for himself, maybe he'll sell it. I don't know, I've never met him in my life. As for who sent me, well, there's lots of slumlords out there. I don't know who my employer is, but I'll tell you one thing; she isn't paying me for this job, so it's not worth lying to you." She shrugged.

Victor let out a low groan at this. "Blast, the Bidder...". He sighed, releasing Roman now. " go. If I see you again I'll shoot you.". He said, shoving her away before storming off. That meddling Bidder, she had pushed to far this time.

Jenga was watching from above, legs dangling off the side of the building as he waited for Victor to go away.

...That was it? Just, 'go'? Roman frowned as she watched the marshall march off. He was without a doubt the strangest law enforcer she'd ever met. After a moment, she shrugged, then walked away, not realizing that Narcissus was watching. She'd figured he'd taken it back to claim all the glory, and so she figured there was no point in her going back to that office, and so was neither in a hurry to get anywhere anytime soon. So much for that; it was fun while it lasted. She figured she'd find a place to sleep tonight, sneak back over the wall in the morning, and find another job to do instead.

Victor didn't bother to go back to his room, instead heading straight to the Green District with every intention of dealing with Bidder once and for all.

She gave him a flat look. "He wanted to know where you were. I told him I didn't know, cuz obviously I didn't. He wanted to know who the Bidder was, I told him I didn't know. He told me to leave, and he walked away." She said. "Now you can go away too, you're annoying." She added as an afterthought. It was half teasing, half serious. She did think he was annoying. A little bit.
