@Takashi I'm having a difficult time interpreting your movement, since if you moved under the elbow swing he would have already moved past Tanzo. This would put Brighton's back at Tanzo's front, the two of them wouldn't be facing eachother.

I don't see how you figure that. You described the motion as one continuous spin, but their relative positions wouldn't have changed. In order for the sword slash to use the momentum as described, Alex would have to eventually spin around and face Ryozan again to make contact.

@LeeRoy I imagine far enough that the blade itself won't hit him, but not so far that he'd have a large window to react. Maybe 10-20 feet?

Not long enough to move in the best and most efficient way, puts him in a bad-ish spot but a roll isn't too difficult. I've gone ahead and posted, but I'm gonna head to bed now.
