"I do not believe you!" the dwarf prince spat, and looked as if he was going to turn around and head back down the pathway they had just left.
"Thorin, wait." Kili protested. "Maybe we should just go. We could get food, rest..." he didn't dare mention the thought of getting advice from any of the elves, as Gandalf had suggested, because he didn't trust the Fair Folk any more than his uncle did.

Bilbo said "Thorin, it wouldn't hurt to rest the night somewhere more secure then out there...this place we can keep better watch and I can repay my debt to Lady Serena" Serena turned, confused. Bilbo went on and said "she saved my life, and I feel I can repay her by being a witness to these creatures she hunts." Gandalf smiled and said "Thorin...you have a debt to her and Master Bane as well..."

The dwarf prince growled angrily under his breath and shrugged his cloak further up on his shoulders as he turned around. "Very well, then. Let's get this over with." he muttered as he still glared at Gandalf, resigned to the fact of having to accept the Elves' help, but not liking it one bit.

Gandalf chuckled as Bane said "Well...I know he doesn't like it...but thanks" Serena sighed and said "Fine..." They headed to towards the city, Bilbo trying to keep his shoulder from being bumped in anyway. He looked at Kili and asked "Why don't Thorin or the others like Elves very much?"

"It's a long story." Kili sighed as he looked at the halfling. "From what I know, there was something that happened between them. A broken agreement or something, before I was born. Thorin says that the Elves asked them to do some work with metal and jewels for them, but when the work was done, the Elves refused to pay my kin rightly for the work they had done, so my kin kept the gems." the young dwarf shrugged slightly. "The Elves tell another story."

Bilbo nodded and said "I see...I am sorry for this." Bane walked over and said "Don't worry you two, everything will be fine. The Elves here are peaceful and have no reason to turn anyone away...My lady wouldn't have let you come here if it was a risky choice"

Bilbo frowned, starting to see not everything was like in the Shire. They reached the city gates and Bane said "Serena, we should go ahead and see of Lord Elron is here...we don't have a lot of time" Serena nodded, being in the sunlight showing the dark shadows under her eyes.

As the group approached, a dark-haired elf descended the stairs and bowed in greeting to them.
"Mithrandir, Bane, Serena." he greeted the three that he recognised. "Lastannem i athrannedh i Bruinen. (We heard that you crossed the Bruinen)."

"What kind of a Lord knows he has guests coming and doesn't stay around to greet them?" muttered Thorin under his breath.

Just as that had been said, an elven war horn echoed from behind them, and the troop of elven riders clattered across the bridge.

"Close ranks!" Thorin barked out to the other dwarves in Khuzdul, grabbing Bilbo and pulling the hobbit into the middle of the circle the dwarves had formed, to protect him.
The riders circled around the dwarves, though seemed to pay them little heed at first.

"Mithrandir!" it was Gandalf who Elrond greeted first as he dismounted from his horse. "What brings you here to Rivendell?" his eyes settled on Bane and Serena and he greeted them as well. "I did not look to see you here at this time."

Elrond seemed to consider this quietly for a moment, before nodding his head. "Very well." he handed his sword to Lindir and instructed the other elf to make sure that there was enough food and wine to feed all of the guests present, including Thorin's dwarves and Bilbo.

"And you, Master Baggins." Lord Elrond bowed his head politely. "Strange, for a halfling to be so far from his homeland. I thought that your kin did not travel further west than Bree."

Grumbling amongst themselves, the dwarves followed Elrond up the stairs and through the courtyard, at least glad for a safe place to rest and some food.

Bilbo rubbed his head and siad "We normally don't...this is a new experience for both of us. I also wanted to let you know that the creatures Lady Serena and Master Bane are real...I was wounded by one of them"
