For the first time I feel alright. Well compared to the other feels I had since I awoken in this mess of a situation. This room looks just like a normal office to me.
The screech of metal breaking scares me. I consider leaving right away without doing anything, but the curiousity inside of me wins. I have always been a find-all-clues kinda girl, so I wouldn't leave a room unsearched.
Hopefully I am not wasting my time as I search through everything I can get my hands on.

My body is tense, my ears sharp. I look up every now and then. I have turned paranoid, but I guess in this situation that's only acceptable.

I will search the cubicles carefully, watching the door to the room with movement just in case

I take the radio with me. Right now I do not know if calling for help would be the best idea. After all, who knows who's on the other end of the radio. I know that I will be trying to reach someone, but first I'd like to finish with me room I am in.

I snatch the map from the wall and look at it. It doesn't take too long until I find out where on the map I am. I easily find out what the bigger signs mean. Elevators obviously. The smaller signs seem to be some kind of electricity, though I do not wanna make assumptions from the top of my head.

I take a pen and scissors from the desks. The scissors may come in handy. With the pen I put an "O" onto the map, on the room where I am standing in right now. The map is already my best friend and I have only known it for several seconds.

There's a note saying something about DEY-35. I do not understand a word. What is this all about? I can only assume that it is nothing good. Everything I have seen and read so far only makes me more suspicious. The whole experimenting with DNA is nothing I wanna ever be involved in. This note, for some reason, only makes me doubt if I wanna call those people for help even more.

I try the doors that lead away from the room. Obviously the way I came from, south, is unlocked and I could go back and check the hallway with the tousands of rooms again. The door up is closed and I do not feel like trying to get it open just yet. That will have to wait.

Instead I go left, the door is open and has no sign on it or next to it. Let's check what this room is about.

In the silence, both of you hear a mechanical humming somewhere that sounds like an elevator moving.

As I step into the room - looking much like another office - I hear shuffling and immediately know someone is in here. I do not wanna scare them and by now they must have noticed I entered the room anyway.

"Hi", I say awkwardly. Hopefully this person knows something about this place.

My eyes dart to the former locked door. I believe I know where that screeching sound came from earlier. The person must have tried to get in or out of this locked room. Successfully

A mechanical humming appears and I am sure it's the elevator I saw earlier through a glass window in the hallway.
The sound of it gives me goosebumps. I was so sure the elevator was unpowered when I saw it. But someone had made it move - I hope it won't mean trouble.

I look at the wall on the left. But I don't move. I won't reveal what I think I know just yet with the other person in the room. I don't know if I can trust them.

The hospital gown is getting on my nerves. I hope to find something more functional to wear soon.

After seeing the note, I think to myself, 'Hmm, VM walls and Normal walls? I guess I'll have to check that out later.' I will also grab the key and hold onto it for later. Right when I see the woman, I will hide under a desk, with my cattle prod thing in hand, the pole on the ground within arms reach

I will call out to the person who just entered, "hello? Are you friendly?"

Confused I answer the voice that roamed through the room. "I am most certainly friendly. I am not armed." Hopefully the other person was not armed either. "Are you friendly?", I give the question back.

"Yeah, I'm friendly unless given reason otherwise." I would call back, and get up from my hiding place, staff in hand, used to help myself up. The prod is on the desk, within easy reach.

"I ehh" What should I say? I don't know. "I do not know this place."

I don't feel like opening up all my thoughts and knowledge to the stranger. But they should know I had nothing to do with whatever happened here.

"Nor do I. I woke up lying on a table holding a cube of something." I say, also being cautious

"We should keep moving. Whatever happened made people leave in a hurry. I'd rather get out of here. So either we work together or you try it on your own." I wanted to move. I needed to. I was still unaware if I should share my new found information with the stranger or not.

"I don't know where we are or why we are here, but I'm down with working together. I figured out that i can change the shape of a particular material, namely this stuff by zapping it with this." He says, holding up the pole and the modified cattle prod in turn.

"I also found a note saying that there are apparently certain walls in here that are made of the same stuff as this." He says, indicating the pole again.

I nod. I already know about the wall, and I have a certain feeling on what's behind it. "I do not understand that thing and how it works. But right there" - I point forward to the wall on the left - "is a wall that is not real. And behind it is something we should get."

"Also I am very concerned by the sound of a moving elevator just a bit earlier. Let's get behind that wall and then keep moving."

Somewhere, the elevator keeps humming.

I start to blink my eyes until I've seen clearly what's before me; it's truly bizarre. I see many rows of shelves that never seem to end and the air where I am seems cramped. I'm in a glass tube? Oh no, I get claustrophobic really fast. My hands began to pound on the glass as I gasp, the anxiety creeping up on me.

Where am I?

I first go for the radio. Getting the pen out that I gathered from the office earlier, I write down the maintance crew's radio number on the backside of the emergency map. Then I take the radio and test if I can find a connection between this one and the one I found earlier. It would be very helpful if my new partner in crime and I could hold contact by any cost.

"My name is Lana", I say. I feel like the man should know my name. "Do you understand anything about this?" I wave my hand towards the switches and buttons.

I do have my thoughts about what this is about, but I don't wanna share and sound even more stupid than I feel.

"No, not particularly. I mean, I can see that it's an elevator, but as to what each switch does, your guess is as good as mine. My name is Chris, by the way." I said, taking a closer look at the 5 by 5 square of switches to try and discern a pattern, or possibly which one does what, roughly
