Tyler blinked as he heard the voice of his mother from downstairs, he couldn't exactly pinpoint her mood from his room and he looked towards Emi before signaling her silently to follow him downstairs. After a few seconds he began making his way down and looked in the kitchen, spotting his mother by the coffee maker. Tylers mother wasn't exactly young and beautiful, at a time, she had been known as one of the prettiest girls in her school... that had changed over the years as her hair had been greying out, she hadn't bothered to dye it at all.

As Tyler walked into the kitchen he snuck up behind his mother and hugged her from behind "Mom.. I'm back from the coffee shop, I brought a friend." he told her quietly before letting go and looked back, hoping Emi had followed along.

Tyler's mother turned around, she held no expression on her face but she did look at Tyler with beady, green eyes and she turned somewhat sour as they narrowed onto him "I just went to the store to get some mix to brew my own, figured you weren't going to come back for a few more hours, where have you been ?" she asked not paying attention to the guest in question, her eyes fully focused on her son.

Emi stayed quiet as him mom continued to call him. Glancing at Tyler, his happy and excited mood changed to a more cautious one in an instant. He glanced at her and then signaled her to follow him. As they walked down the steps carefully, Tyler finally answered his mother's calls. Seeing his mother, she looked somewhat like Tyler, the same mouth and eyes. However, she had more wrinkles than most mothers of her age, which Emi assumed they were from massive amounts of stress.

Tyler walked up to his mother and hugged her from behind, which Emi thought was a sweet gesture, but when his mother turned around there were n o emotions in her face. She seemed restless with a hint of annoyance were shown in her eyes. She stared down at Tyler questioning him harshly completely ignoring the fact that Emi was right behind him. She could feel a chill go down her spine from just seeing the look his mother gave him.

"It's my fault," Emi blurted out all of a sudden, "I accidentally ran into him, making him spill his coffee. I'm sorry..." she said feeling bad that Tyler was gonna get yelled at because of her. As his mother turned to her, she gulped as she gave Emi the same beady eye she gave Tyler.

"I kinda regret saying that now," Emi thought to herself as she waited for his mother to reply.

Tylers mom looked at the girl in question, then back to her son before sighing and crossing her arms. "How long have you two known eachother, Tyler says you're a friend but i've not heard a single word about you, let alone seen you until now, missy." she said before narrowing her eyes down in a deadly stare at the girl, then looked at Tyler more closely, seeing the wide stain across his shirt and her brow furrowed in anger. "Maybe you should watch where you're going.. both of you." she said before walking past them, the look on her face looked like she was deciding on something.

Tyler watched as his mother chewed out his new friend and he winced, he just hoped she wouldn't get loud with her as she moved out of the kitchen, Tyler shot a worried look towards Emi and then spoke up "M-Mom.." he began before a lump in his throat stopped anything else from coming out.

"Tyler's Mom stopped in place before she turned back around "What." she said in a stern manner before deciding "You know Ty.. how old are you again.. last time I checked you were fuckin' eighteen years old, not sixteen, not seventeen, Eighteen." she said bitterly to him "How do you expect to get hired anywhere if you look like that, you think anyone with a stain on their shirt's gonna be hired ? " she questioned him before noticing him back down "Look at me, Tyler.." she insisted, waiting for him to give her his attention again...

After a few moments she huffed and walked out into the living room, leaving the two alone to talk.

Quickly after his mom lectured Emi, she rapidly turned to Tyler and started ranting towards him. Emi stood stiffly as his mom continued complaining about his looks and behavior. After a couple of minutes, his mom finally stopped and left the room. Emi collapsed into the nearest chair and mumbled to Tyler, "well that was intense..."

Her back felt stiff from standing so perfectly straight the entire time reflexively when his mother started yelling. The chair she sat in was nice and comfy, she melted into the chair listening to the footsteps of his mother as she walked back and forth above them. Holding her breathe, she waited till the footsteps disappeared and the sound of a door closing. After hearing the slam of the door, she gave a relieved sigh.

"So, what now?" She asked him, as her head was still spinning from the yelling of his mother. However, when she glanced outside she noticed that it was starting to get dark. She slid her phone from her pockets and glanced at the screen. It read that it was already 6 o'clock. She abruptly stood up from the chair and then glanced at Tyler, "It's really late. I should go."

Tyler looked at his new friend before she had decided that she should go, a look of dissapointment on his face. "Oh.. yeah right, well- It was nice meeting you." He told her before heading for his room, he was unsure if he would see her again but only time could tell. As he headed up he ignored any looks from his mother, keeping his back turned on her as he headed up the stairs and went into his room.

He was unsure what to do next so he instead moved for the steps again, but stayed at the top, watching to see if he could catch a glimpse of her leaving and stayed silent. He wasn't too happy with the fact that she had decided to abandon him. Letting out a small breath he waited to see her go out the front door.

She walked towards the entrance of his house and then paused at the door. She felt like it was odd to just leave and that they would possibly not see each other again. She had a interesting day and she thought it wouldn't hurt to become friends with him. Turning around she noticed him still lingering on the stairs.

"Do you have a phone?" She asked him from downstairs, "We should keep in touch, today was...interesting." She saw a napkin on the table and a pen near another counter. Grabbing the pen, she scribbled her numbers on it. "I'll leave it here," she said as she placed the napkin on the counter and walked out the door.

Tyler blinked as she asked about a phone. He had actually lost his somewhere in his room, but there was always the home phone, as he began wondering how he could answer her, he noticed her writing something on a napkin and he looked on with confusion before giving her a small smile and as soon as she left he quickly went to retrieve the number she had left him.

Moving upstairs after grabbing the small paper, Tyler began going through his room at a much more spastically as he tried to find that damn black flip phone, rummaging through his dressers, under his bed, in the closet but he couldn't find it anywhere. he soon began searching Inside clothes that were just laying around on the floor, he also noted the next time she comes over that his room should be a less... boy-ish

Giving up on the hunt for now, he put her number on the top of his dresser and began making his way to sleep, exhausted after such an interesting day..

Once she left, the sun was setting, painting the sky a dark red orange. The previously empty street was now filled with cars. Thankfully, it was so jammed pack that they weren't moving at all. Taking the chance while she had it, she slipped through multiple cars receiving the occasional beeps. After finally making it back to the main town, she passed by the coffee shop where they met. The cafe was now empty and she could spot the remaining workers cleaning up the tables, getting ready to close. The people on the streets looked tired as they looked like they had just came back to work.

When Emi arrived home, a wave of the scent of pasta hit her. She felt her stomach growling, realizing that she barely ate the whole day. When she entered the kitchen her mom raised a brow, probably questioning silently where she had been.

"I was out at the cafe," Emi said vaguely to her mom.

"That's a surprise," her mom replied sarcastically. She set the food at the table for the both of them, as her dad was still at work. Emi quickly gobbled her food down and went to her room. Checking her phone for messages, she felt oddly disappointed that she didn't see any unknown numbers that could be from Tyler.

However, she let it go as she felt exhausted from spending the whole day out. Before she fell asleep, a reminder popped up on her phone reminding her that she had to tutor someone at the cafe tomorrow. She sighed, she had almost forgotten that she might be a little busy for the rest of spring break. She eventually fell asleep, with her phone next to her, unknowingly she had forgotten to set up her alarm for the next day.
