Tim desperately scrambled to his feet, muttering expletives under his breath. "Did you see it? It was a bear! A huge one! It can't be far behind, run!" He staggered, almost tripping a second time, and leaned a hand on the cool stone wall to balance himself. His breath came in ragged gasps, his lungs overworked.

"I'm fine. You need to relax. The counselors aren't going to take us someplace dangerous. If you saw a bear the counselors probably assume that most of us are stronger enough to defend ourselves against it. Running from a predator is a bad idea." Kyle told the other boy calmly.
