Every year hundreds of fantasy characters come to our world, some through death, some through miscast spells, some through th will of a cruel god, and some on purpose.
In the USA, INS finds them, takes them to New York, and trains them to be members of American society. After their initial training , they are taken out into the city as a group so that their teacher can see how they handle themselves, ands if they are ready to live on their own. That's where our story begins.
As explained by the teacher, however,magic is like water. Some world's are a lake, or a swamp, or are on the banks of a river or stream. Our world , however, is a desert. Magic is so rare here that it is incredibly difficult to use arcane powers, the voice of the gods is but a whisper, and even nature thirsts for any of it that nature can get.
