Also I expected the lower region with more triangles = more mountainous?

1) You can be anyone, provided it's reasonable and not a god mode.

2) I have some plots in mind, but for now we're sandboxing it

You can also balance out power by having fewer of them. For example demons are 10X stronger than the next highest, but there are only a few hundred thousand and they are also tasked with controlling the climate in Xi'an (such as rain).

Which puts them on even footing with their more populous, but weaker neighbors

Unfortunately that sounds too OP. But if you tempered it so that it balances with everyone else it sounds bad ass

But we can say that the rivers are either badly polluted or during the way down the mountains they dissolve toxic levels of salt.

You can enter the IC however you want. Just leave someone at the court, so that we have an easier time following the story line.

It's fine life happens. I just wanted to make sure you were OK.

Also could you have a character that resides at the court of Xi'an? It streamlines the roleplay.

Honestly Xi'an has a lot of metal too.

Ling though would have invited your ambassador simply because as a demon he has a strong interest in the Kingdom that defied death. He'd be fascinated about how mere humans defied their very nature and on such a large scale.
