The last days of mankind came and went, but what a way to go.

One hundred years ago the Eidolons - the strange beasts born of men's hearts - first began to appear. Bound to the humans they were born from, our lack of understanding led to worldwide chaos as every person on the planet suddenly found themselves possessing the power to reshape the world around them.

In the hundred years since then our understanding has increased and the survivors possess greater control, but organization has failed - those who had greater mastery over themselves and their Eidolons became the masters of our fate; they became the first Grandmasters, the new rulers of this Earth, in turn delegating some measure of authority and administration to the 'Masters'.

In the land of Magnus, you are a group of 'Novices' - common folk, those with weaker Eidolons, in training and service to a Master. Tasked with a dangerous mission by your Master, you set off on a quest to find a cure for a mysterious disease...

Players would create a human 'Novice' and anywhere from one to four 'Eidolons', each of which is categorized as either White (embodying active/assertive emotions like happiness, love, greed and anger) or Black (embodying passive/avoidant emotions like pain, fear, calm/inner peace, or methodical hate) and is further divided into one of six 'Classes' (only four of which are available to the players: Pawns, Bishops, Knights, Rooks, Queens (N/A) and Kings (N/A)).

I'm tempted to say there should be a limited mechanical system for battles, too, though I'm not sure yet.

Besides dangerous NPCs and their Eidolons, there's also wild Eidolons left behind when their humans died (known as 'Reds' due to their blood-red colour, the inevitable result when an Eidolon no longer has a human of its own - a raw, destructive embodiment of untamed emotion) and the environment itself, distorted beyond most reckoning by the last hundred years, as challenges for the players to overcome.

Potentially? Most likely not - the players are all Novices (commoners) in service to a Master (in the feudal-esque system of their society, equivalent to a lesser noble or landed knight) on a single mission and thus have few political reasons to fight each other, however... on an individual basis, of course, there can always be reasons for conflict...

'Eidolon' is probably familiar from a couple of the Final Fantasy games, where it's usually another word for 'Summon'. The word itself is an alternate term for 'Phantom', 'Illusion', 'Avatar' etc.

I meant in the sense of trying to design a banner for the RP, with like a background and fancy text and stuff
