As fun as that drama sounds, I'm with what you said. I don't want the relationships to feel forced. What kind of guy do you see Clara ending up with? I can base my character off of that. Or I can create a character based off of what I know of Clara. Make someone I think she would fall for

Yeah you know what forming characters off of what we know of each other's characters and ooc discussion about them sounds like the best way. Rather than trying to force already formed characters together in an awkward sort of way in order to create scenarios. Mostly Clara feels out of her element and stuck in a shell, and she's slowly venturing out of it. No doubt becoming a mermaid will help with that in someways, as well as her relationship with Emma, and maybe the eventual guy will also help bring her out of her shell. I'm going to have it so that Clara is interested in music (guitar playing) and science (particularly marine biology, her mother's career), so if that helps? And if drama unfolds on its own then it will.

What about Emma?

Emma is still forming... I know she was popular, she loves her friends even if she doesn't like Melissa. She is extremely loyal. Her dad is a lawyer who is never home, and her mom is a nurse who takes extra shifts. So she had grown a hard shell and no one has been able to truly crack her. Which means no one really knows her yet. Otherwise, she is still a forming character. ^.^

I am thinking of turning Zach into Clara's love interest.

Clara is still forming a bit, too. Since this is the beginning, after all. But Clara's new friend, Alex, will probably end up being her love interest? He's just a name at this point, kind of a blank canvas, but he'll probably be someone who can soften the hard shell and crack it. With a joke or two, maybe.

Zach as Clara's love interest sounds promising-

Zach is kind of a blank canvas right now too, so it is okay. In a way, Emma is a canvas too. Her character will develop over time, but right now she is still easily changeable. ^.^

I like the name Alex!

Yeah Clara and Alex are exactly the same. I have some ideas for Alex but nothing concrete beyond his name, which I'm glad you like :)

So I edited Alex's CS into my first post below Clara's. Still working on his personality, but that's what he's gonna look like^^

I'm wondering when I can expect your next post? Not trying to pressure you or anything of course, I'm just curious. If you need time with it I totally understand~
