Alright, so here goes:

-For my character, I've had in mind a burly "settlement builder". Basically my character belongs to one of the more established settlements in the Wasteland(can come up with name later) and is tasked with scouting out potential areas for outposts, major settlements and resources. He's also tasked with clearing the areas that are worthwhile, which includes killing raiders and bashing ghouls to bits. He's been in this position for two years and before that served in the settlement's militia.

-In terms of plot, we could go with the arc of unifying all settlements under one government. That could introduce a number of groups that would oppose, would support, maybe ending up in a multi faction war in the vein of New Vegas?

-We could also try to explore groups or cults that are kidnapping settlers for their own ends, effectively depopulating the wasteland. As I typed that it sounded crappy, but if you feel like it has promise, let me know xD

A little more on my character: traveler, maybe a tinkerer or jack of all trades. Probably trades or peddles as they go, more of a scavenger, definitely not a raider. I can see them having a vague interest in all the settlements being unified under a single banner, even more so if there is some benefit to them. Particularly if there is a chance to make new contacts or connections in the places being built. I doubt they have any formal combat or military training, instead having a cobbled together fighting style using whatever they find hat suits them. It will not be as efficient or as strong as someone with proper training so they will likely let more on weapons or dirtier moves.

Sounds like our characters are going to complement each other rather well! Do you want to do character sheets or just wing it? I normally do the latter, but if you'd like a basic CS, I can give that to you :)

Also, what do you think our initial arc should be?

I usually just wing it, but if I do have an image or images that I use for references I usually include them in the first post. I did want to touch briefly on the topic of romance, as it affects the gender outcome of my character. Is it something you want in the plot, something you'd rather avoid?

As for the initial arch, I had a couple of ideas. Something simple, along the lines of their initial meet and the build of their trust, maybe while traveling for convienance sake. Or there could be a more pressing undertone, a time limit based on outside factors- whatever passes for winter, or violence that is threatening if unity is not achieved, or even something that incorporates your other idea or s cult or group that is causing wide spread mischief.

Also, apologies for the occasional odd typo-- phone typing.

I wouldn't mind romance down the line. I'd also be partial to doing a father-daughter type relationship(nothing weird), but if that doesn't work with your character, romance would work.

Aaaaand I forgot to ask if you were ok with playing a female...I assume you were, but forgive me for not asking xD

Soooo, how does this sound for an initial arc?

-Your character, being nomadic, stumbles upon a much smaller settlement that my character is attempting to clear of Raiders. With their combined efforts, the Raiders are taken out.
-My character searches the bodies to confirm that these Raiders don't belong to any other groups and decides he needs to report the news back
-Encourages your character to travel with him
-Make it to larger settlement where both our characters are pushed together to figure out where these raiders are coming from

A bit basic in premise, but I think we'll come up with stuff as we go. Anything you want to add?

I really like the idea of a father daughter type relationship-- it adds emotional intimacy without the entanglement of romance. And I have no problem at all playing a female character.

The arch sounds good to me, and we can always add or alter like you said. as for additions, maybe we could throw in complications down the way with either the weather or with raiders en mass that may need to be dealt with?

Thank you for agreeing to the father-daughter dynamic. I did a couple of those and they were REALLY fun. Also a nice break from the traditional romance angle.

Both sounds good! Would you like me to start or you? If you'd like me to start, I can get you a post tomorrow :)

Also, just one quick clarification: the setting is in the ruins of Washington D.C.?

I don't mind starting at all! It'll be an it because again, phone, but I can probably knock it out in an hour or three. And yes, DC and surrounding suburbs and maybe into both Virginia and Maryland depending on distance traveled.

Bethany has me intrigued. Looking forward to seeing her in action!

I was thinking Mansfield would be around late 30's? He needs to be young enough to, you know, move around xD
