Summarized BackstoryAdanelle was born in a province in Gartonis to two parents from Kessar, both minor soldiers. Her grandmother had mingled with a "half breed" Kessaran with a sizable Gartonis ancestry, and as such she was entitled by normal rules to becoming a low level militia guard (child police, old order members, and those of mixed blood) at best upon her return to the provinces of Kessar when she was 14. She proved herself at age 16 against a pair of thieves by clobbering the hapless fools in an alley, as she boasted greater strength than many even at such a young age. The thieves were drunk, but they were armed, and her efforts were spread across the town she was in by a wide-eyed passerby (and frequent drunkard). The news caught to the town's militia leader, who decided to present her to one of the order's sages to give her an opportunity to rise beyond obscurity.
The sage placed her in a slightly better role, squire to a guard for one of the minor Priestesses. At age 22 she again proved herself by slaying two would-be thieves while escorting her Priestess out of the province. Neither were particularly skilled, and she had made several mistakes, yet that didn't matter to the grateful Priestess she was escorting. She was promoted to captain at age 26 after a thorough review by her superiors. She was badly wounded at age 27 by an enchanted maul wielded by a dissatisfied lower guard who attempted to take out his fury on a Priestess. She was heavily bruised and nearly lost her right hand, and fell unconscious as the three guards under her command handled the situation. After recovering, she regained normal use of her right hand, yet it was still damaged by the enchantments of the maul visually.
Considerable practice saw her adept at using two light weapons, though that was largely for flashy purposes, as she was ultimately not as strong as she was in her younger years. She remains a well spoken of guard captain and fairly loyal member of her order.
