The Kingdom of Emulis has reached out to the Grandshield, a swordseeker covenant that specializes in the paranormal. This is an unprecedented event, for the pragmatic Emulis have isolated themselves from the rest of the world for centuries. The message was delivered with the wax seal of the iron mace and sunflower, proving its legitimacy alongside the bags of gold that came with it.

The letter does not elaborate on Emulis' plight, only that discretion and the Grandshield's best seekers are needed. It was written in a hurried pace, but confirmed from the Grandshield's graphologists that the calligraphy belongs to Grand Duke Clairevoi, second to Emulis Kingship.

According to the Duke's instructions, the Swordseekers are to meet a scoutsman just outside Emulis territory by the end of the week. Brave and battle-hardened as can be, the heralds sent on behalf of Grandshield still have mixed emotions about their new assignment. Not only are they flying blind into a land no living outsider has ever stepped foot in, but the reason for their services are yet to be revealed. Such is the way of the famous Grandshield Swordseekers -- falling face first onto the devil's horns.

As you guessed, we're a group of Seekers looking to aid the Kingdom of Emulis for reasons unknown, but you can most certainly expect ghosts, ghouls, monsters, and demons of the highest order.

Yay, nay?

Notes:
-The Swordseekers of the Grandshield are basically a glorified mercenary group of hunters. It is a very corrupt organization. Many Seekers use their status to con people into buying counterfeit goods said to cure ailments or ward off angry ghosts. Only a select few have actually dealt with spirits and demons -- the wild beastiary of the land are often mistaken for paranormal monsters.
-The entire continent is called Roviat and there are a bunch of kingdoms and fiefdoms loosely ruled by The Tocratia Empire.
-Elves, Orcs, Dwarves, and Humans inhabit Roviat.
-Monsters roam the land. Spirits and demonology are questionable ideologies and not generally accepted beliefs.
-The Seekers that are experienced with the paranormal use blessed and cursed weapons, items, artifacts, and armor.
-European Medieval setting, mild-to-low magic use.

Ya know what, you get my interest. Been a while since I've written for an RP but I've always liked darker fantasy. The Witcher setting is nice and would've made for a nice RP were it not to so well fleshed out, thus leaving very little room to have non-canon writings. I'll bite and if this gets started, just hit me up with a ping and I'll appear.

Thanks for showing interest!

@Mag Lev I played it a long time ago and never finished it. Just got a great deal on the complete edition for PS4 and looking to start it up all over again. Room mate has said nothing but great things about the DLC.

@Pathfinder Sounds good.

I want to try and refrain from info dumping in the OOC and keep it pretty limited to allow everyone some creative breathing room. If anything, I'll post basic stuff about Tocratia, Emulis, and The Grandshield.

So spirits and demons are a debated topic but beasts and monsters are very much real correct? What kind of things will we be fighting or at least well known? And on similar notes, how many Seekers are actually worth a damn?

@Pathfinder Typical monsters they hunt are ogres, manbeasts (wolf/hyena/tiger/lion men), reptilians and mermen. These types have functioning communities, but aren't intelligent and usually hostile to people. Then there are hybrid beasts that are just straight up feral and wreak havoc wherever they go. Big game, colossal in scale, often romanticized in cultures as legendary beasts, the hybrids are the closest thing to demons most Seekers have encountered.

There's a little under 500 seekers. Of the 500, only 80-90 actually live up to the myths told about them. Those few have in some shape or form battled with the paranormal to a mild degree (mainly dealing with phantoms or possessed people or beasts). The demonology aspect of their craft is reserved for the best/committed of them all, but its teachings and practices are still in their infancy. Basically there isn't just one tried and true method to combat the paranormal. The most practical way is using blessed/cursed items and just kill physical vessels, but to seal portals from the underworld, or exorcise demons from people/beasts can be complicated. That part will kind of open up to RPers as we advance into Emulis via NPC tag-along.
