The afternoon sky was clear and the air was pleasantly warm. Yoko had already finished her club activities and was waiting, leaning on the Kagamino City High School gates, quietly sipping her can of Jasmine Tea she got from the school vending machine. She was waiting for her roommate and friend, Yumi to finish her own club activities. Yoko was used to idle afternoons like this. She enjoyed them. She used to revel in challenge, be it fighting or mentally. Now she preferred the boring human life but as long as she's among humans, she knows, she can be a magnet for danger.
She closed her eyes trying to make sure there was nothing dangerous around. She'd made it a point to memorize the regular reishi patterns in the area so she could easily detect any Hollows nearby. It wasn't as hard for her to find them after she left the Soul Society anyways. It usually sticks out like a sore thumb but there was something she noticed in the last few days. There would be a split moment that she would vaguely detect Hollow reishi but it would vanish as soon as it popped up and she would only sense it if she was focused. It was so insignificant and fleeting she could never pinpoint it. She was starting to think it might just be someone like her. Maybe even one of the ones she left with checking up on her while making poor attempts to completely hide. Either way it didn't matter much to her. If it didn't disrupt her human life or anyone in it she wouldn't try to kill it.
It was quiet. Not even chatter from the students in clubs. Yoko peered around the corner in the school and spotted Yumi trying to sneak up on her. “Nice try. Almost would have worked. I wasn't paying attention so might have worked if it wasn't so quite.” Yoko said with a smirk as she pushed off the wall. She threw her bag over her shoulder and faced the disappointed strawberry blonde. “You ready to go?”

‘This time I shall do it,’ Yumi thought as she crept up on Yoko. ‘The glory will be mine! Just sneaky sneak, sneaky sneak…’
“Nice try. Almost would have worked. I wasn't paying attention so might have worked if it wasn't so quite.” Yoko said with a smirk as she pushed off the wall. “You ready to go?”
“Darn! Next time I will be victorious, I shall be a black cat in the night, no one will know I am there until I want them to!” Yumi raved as the two of them started home. She shrugged off her defeat, adjusted the duffle bag on her shoulder and focused on her growling stomach, “Anyway Yoko what should we have for dinner? Ramen? Nah… Umm… Curry? No, we just had that… Fish and rice? Ooo maybe but then I got to go to the store. That's ok I need to go anyway.” She glanced over at Yoko making sure she didn't zone out of her ramblings, “Hey, are you still listening to me Yoko? It's your dinner too!” Yoko just looked at her with the slightest of nods which was all the assurance she needed, “Ok good! Well we better run by the store real quick! I have to pick up some chopsticks for the basketball club anyway. They said they needed chopsticks to help them measure how high up they can toss the ball.”

The job was suppose to be simple enough for a basic soul reaper to handle. Hunting a mischievous hollow known for causing chaos but at a small levels. The worst it's done is given a human a broken back but it's never killed anyone. That was why it was given such a low priority and rank. Though as the first reaper failed those with more experience took on the job. Many attempted and gave up, moving up the ranks in the Court Guards with each trial. A seventeenth seat gave the hunt a shot but gave up after realizing what kind of hollow this actually was, she would've been wasting too much time. A Fourth seat in the ranks by the name of Kaiyo simply volunteered as no one was going to attempt to capture the mischievous hollow. He set out on his journey packing very little.

Kaiyo went to its last known location, a hunt of this rank would be trivial for his stature. The hollow was easy to track, following to a small market that was often busy. It was next to a neighborhood and not far from a school so it supplied many and was populated heavily. As a soul reaper Kaiyo wasn't able to be seen by the naked eye, so he was free to chase the hollow as needed. He kept his zanpakuto sheathed, seeing no need to use it, doing so would cause too much collateral damage anyways. The hollow was small, about the size of a raccoon, it never put anybody danger and Kaiyo knew this. As the chase ran threw the market the soul reaper would have to constantly catch and return thrown fruit. One of which he missed, a small watermelon thrown at his head, his faced turned just in time to see it, only for the melon to break and become a hole-less mask, dripping juice down his body.

"Chopsticks huh?" Yoko giggled. She new Yumi was being played again but decided not to say anything. She shrugged, "How about we go to the market? Maybe we can find some fresh fish or some other culinary inspiration. I need more sweets anyway." Yoko smirked as they made their way to the market. She hadn't felt at home in years, never in the human world. But she was here. She was happy. Here as a human. She'd be perfectly content if she could completely forget the spirit world. But there was one thing that always pulled her back. She had to help people. She had to always protect someone. It's what drew her to Yumi. The girl was so oblivious she always needed some help. Her innocence is what Yoko admired. Yoko lost that part of her hundreds of years ago and seeing it in others always drew her in.
Once they got to the street market there was a loud commotion. Yoko stopped a bit curious about what was happening. She watched people scramble a bit and some group of girls would squeal. “What is there someone famous here or something?” It was then she noticed that strange reiatsu she'd been sensing. It was no doubt in her mind, it was a Hollow and it was getting closer.

Yumi happily started browsing the nearby stalls. “Hmm, chopsticks... chopsticks... I wonder who would have the best sell? I was told only need enough for everyone to have one pair each but that makes no sense the sillies! It's going to take more than one set each to measure the height, right Yoko?” Yumi didn't wait for a reply, “Better buyin’ bulk for that! Also there's dinner! Got to buy the fish, I think we have the rice, better stock up though. Must be some good deals today there's a lot more people out today.” Yumi looked around among the various food stalls before she spotted one that was all seafood, “That looks like an awesome spot to get fish better hurry before they sell out!” She bounded straight for the stall.

Kaiyo ripped off the melon and tossed it aside, quickly brushing himself off and wiping away the juice with his over sized robes. The hollow laughed at the reapers humiliation only to stop once he realized how pissed Kaiyo was. Kaiyo took off sprinting once more after the small joker of a demon. He wanted to use his zanpakuto but once again reminded himself of the collateral damage.

The only thing he could do was chase it down hoping he could catch it. Kaiyo continued to sprint through the market, knowing he could ignore most of the people around him since majority can't see ghosts. As the hollow ran and jumped around throwing items of bargain sale, including a large fish that was heading for the back of a girls head who seemed to be walking from school. Kaiyo reached his arm out to block the fish, his hand phasing through the girls face, however his body didn't follow. He had ran into the other girl like a brick wall. He now laid a tip the girl, his head resting in a soft place. He groaned and looked to the side before quickly summoning his zanpakuto spirit, "Rika go, try to keep up with him." Kaiyo moaned once more before placing his hands at his side to push himself up only to look at the specimen below him, "Yoko?"

“Listen here, you little punk!” Yoko growled angrily grabbing onto whoever fell on top of her. Her angry scowl turned into panic as she realized that she was not only holding onto a Soul Reaper but it was one she knew. “Kaiyo…?!” She was dumbfounded she didn't know what to do. Even if she wanted to she couldn't bring herself to kill him but she couldn't let him report her to the Soul Society. “Damn it! Why’d it have to be you! I-! You-! Urgh!” Yoko was so frustrated she didn't know what to say. She looked around and realized it was too crowded, she knew it would look like she was talking to herself. “Don't go anywhere!” She shoved him off her and she stood up, brushing herself off. She put on her sweet expression and turned to Yumi. “Yumi! I just remembered I forgot my notebook at school and I need it to study tonight! I'm going to go get it! You finish up here, head home, and start on dinner! I'll be home before it's done!”
