Pokemon: Chronicles

Your story starts here...

Welcome, young trainer, to Pokemon Masters Academy. PMA resides in the mysterious and beautiful lands of the Marvalo Archipelago region, located several hundred miles Northeast of the Johto region. A melting pot of sorts, Marvalo is home to a myraid of different cultures, traditions, and customs–– common and uncommon–– from all over the globe. Rich with flora, fertile lands, and an abundance of complex ecosystems, it's no wonder that pokemon of all species and types call Marvalo home.

PMA touts the best education for professional pokemon trainers to be all over the globe. Quite literally built as a castle, the school was established hundreds of years prior, and has been building it's reputation steadily ever since. Shrouded in secrecy and cultural history alike, the campus is beautiful and spacious, filled with ornate architecture, twisting corridors, secret passageways. Acres of green stretch on, turning into verdant territories brimming with pokemon. The dormitories are roomy, with four-poster beds and cozy rugs. A placid lake rests on the grounds and is a frequented spot by students. To top it all off, PMA is surrounded by the capital of Marvalo, Balamla City, a bustling city that attracts talent and events from all over.

Curricula consists of state of the art practical and simulated battle exercises. Those who feel they may be trapped between the stale walls of the classroom will be pleasantly mistaken, as budding PMA professionals will regularly conduct field research and go on expeditions to improve their real-world, practical skills. There is no shortage of classes offered, and every pokemon profession from ranger to champion is covered by the school's education.

But perhaps the biggest prize of all are sponsorships by the school, and subsequently companies worldwide, for budding trainers. PMA's influence is powerful, and it pulls in money from all over. The top, exemplary students who truly distinguish themselves are the ones who earn this privilege, living the rest of their school days out on their sponsored journey. And the top few that receive these sponsorships typically end up, unsurprisingly, well-known and with a solid footing in the world of pokemon. It's one of the reasons so many people apply, and why PMA's curricula is so rigorous.

So here, you'll find magic within the walls and a place for you to hone your skills as the pokemon master you always dreamed of becoming. You'll go on a journey with your pokemon and friends, and you'll become stronger than ever before. You'll explore the passages of the school, you'll unravel mysteries. You'll also probably get into fights and get your ass kicked. But hey, this is your story and you're going to make something of yourself.

GM Style/ How we'll play
Hello! Welcome to this Pokemon Academy roleplay. I really wanted to create sort of prestigious boarding school academy rp with Harry Potter like adventures but set in pokemon. It's kind of combining slice of life aspects with combat, action, and adventure.

In this RP, I will act as the GM, controlling the world and plot elements and most NPCs. I'll control your encounters, though we can expand on that more in a bit. I'll pretty much be creating events and plots for your characters to go through! This will be a blend of your characters following an overarching plot together while still having some individual free time to do explore, train, develop, or whatever you want your character to specifically do.

YC will be 16 years old, a transfer sophomore at this selective academy with a student body of 300 students. YC will also be able to start off with two pokemon, and will be able to collect more (of course) as the RP goes on. Be as creative as you want with your character's backstory. Let me know how you want your character to affect the story or be affected by the story. Incorporating character elements in plot is always fun.

I will be using dice to figure out character outcomes for actions and such. As for my rolls, I'll be using a mixture of logic with random chance, rule of cool, and a dash of spice to decide your outcomes.

Use whatever pokemon you want, as game stats will just be used a loose reference. For example, a Shuckle has a poor speed stat as they're generally slow. No fighting that, but this doesn't mean your Shuckle can't still become a champion pokemon. You needn't worry about your pokemon's stats, as they can be trained to be excellent even if their stats are garbage initially.
