"As the Night Mother raised her pale hand,

Shadow rose to consume the land.

Come at last, the Age of Night.

Rise now creatures of darkness, devour the light...."

- Tome of the Nightfall -

Chapter 2, Verses 23-27

The night has consumed the land of Unarath....

For centuries, the realm has been without the guarding light of the sun and the hearts of it's people have known little hope. Many of the old gods now lie dead or dying, those that remain either offer no hope to their children or only answer to those who pledge themselves to the dark....

What magic still remains is often corrupted by the Dark Ones with each use....

The vampire counts of Unarath rule the Night Lands while waging bloody civil war with each other and the wild beasts of the dark....

To survive in such times requires a will from the gods, a sharp sword, and a light to drive away the night.

Welcome to the dark (literally and metaphorically) fantasy world of Nightfall! The heroes of this world have failed to save it and now the world has fallen into darkness, the sun literally ripped out of the sky and plunging the realm into shadow. The lands of Unarath are ruled by several vampire lords locked in a war for dominance of the realm. To add gas to the fire, dark creatures that had once been restrained and weakened by sunlight.

One of the biggest problems (aside from the vampires) is the Green Tide; the goblin armies rushing out of the mountains and creating problems for all inhabitants of Unarath. The only place that offers any safety from the horrors of the continent are the free isles of Umalla, small islands that operate independently from the continent. This is/was your home and where our story would begin.

You will be playing as an inhabitant of Umalla who washes up on the shores of Unarath. You had been aboard a trading vessel by the name of "The Grey Maiden" when it had been set upon by pirates. You managed to survive seemingly alone and have never truly set foot on the soil of the continent, now you are trapped here. Who you are and why you were a board the vessel is up to you. Whether you are alone or managed to make a friend aboard the ship is all up to the choices you made.

I will be taking the loose roll of a DM, offering paths and adventures for your character to embark on and a slew of characters for your character to meet. Will you befriend them? Keep your distance? Make an enemy? Will you simply try to survive the horrors of Unarath, or will you rise above it to become a legend of the land? The choice is ultimately yours...
