LA was fucked.

Drake heard about it, he saw the newscasts, but seeing it in person definitely painted a different picture of the place for him. He arrived at the FAMA forward operating base via FAMA SUV, but he saw all the picturesque buildings of LA in... ruins. The skyscrapers were knocked over and the beautiful sun betrayed how desolate and awful the place appeared. He was miles, upon miles, away from the city but he could tell how awful the place was for the people in it. The SUV came to a stop, and Drake looked around as he figured that he'd go straight to the command tent as instructed.

The base was crazy and everyone was in a hurry - maybe that was how crazy the situation was in LA. He moved into the "command tent" as instructed, which was a green tent that was pitched up in a rush it seemed. Drake stepped into the tent, a little nervous because this was going to be his toughest challenge yet. When he stepped in, it was the expected scene, a giant guy standing over a table that had a map of LA pinned to it. There were various Agents and other people there.

That was when Drake remembered that he was in Task Force RAVEN! He almost smacked himself on the forehead for being so daft but it was like six in the morning. The homie that was standing before him as Maximilian Cornell, the famed leader of Task Force RAVEN. Probably the guy he's going to be working under the most.

"Agent Blackmore," Maximilian said, "Glad you joined us, we're just waiting on two others and we'll begin the briefing."

"How bad is it?"

There was an unusually long pause, long enough that it made Farrah glance up from her phone, eyes studying the driver's solemn facial expression via the rearview mirror. "Bad." He finally said glancing at her, "Really bad."

That was the extent of their conversation for the rest of the nearly three-hour drive from the airport. Farrah didn't mind the quiet, though, keeping herself busy enough scrolling through all the news articles that were dropping by the minute. Everyone was talking about the disaster. Every major news channel, online news outlets, bloggers - shit - even influencers on social media took to the cameras. She scrolled past reports about Deltahuman terrorists, speculations that Reaper or some other organization could be behind it. Up until now, nothing was confirmed, nothing except that LA was gone and whatever was left was in ruins. Reports of deaths and people missing were coming in by the hundreds. Some scientists speculated that due to the size of the city-shattering-earthquake, it had left what once was LA and the surrounding areas in an unstable state, whatever that meant.

Having seen enough, Farrah closed her phone and dropped it on her lap, her attention shifting to the folder next to her. A crest with a raven was prominently featured in the front, the emblem for Task Force RAVEN. She'd heard of them, who hadn't? Some of the members went down in history as heroes in and out of FAMA's circles, but she never expected to receive a call to join the unit. They must have been vetting her for some time, maybe even years, because not even forty minutes had passed after the destruction of LA when her phone rang - no other than Maximilian Cornell himself.

The SUV exited off the freeway and almost immediately makeshift shelters for the victims started crowding either side of the road. There were hundreds of people, maybe even thousands. Some first responders, crisis volunteers, but the bulk of it was just regular civilians - people that in minutes had lost everything from homes to family members. It was a sad affair to witness.

"We're almost at the base." The driver said breaking the two and a half-hour long silence after they had passed what seemed like miles of victim shelters. "They'll be waiting for you at the command tent." After passing the gates, the SUV dropped Farrah off. She gathered her small duffle bag packed with the essentials, folder, and phone before making her way up to the command tent. It was easy enough to spot and mostly a straight forward walk, but more than once she had to stop to allow some FAMA issued vehicle or a group of agents to pass.

"Agent Farrah Govea, reporting in." She said once inside, dropping her bag by her side and taking a brief moment to look around at the other present. She recognized Maximilian from his photo the few times RAVEN has been in the papers or news channels, as well as some of the older members of the unit but some she saw for the first time.

"Agent Farrah Govea, reporting in."
Farrah

"Excellent," Maximilian said as he stood straight up as he looked among Task Force RAVEN... he placed his hands behind his back as he began his briefing. "Alright, as you all are aware, a few days ago; two criminals on the run from LAPD were cornered and one of them got shot - and as it turns out, the other one was a Deltahuman." He took in a deep breath as he looked around.

"That Deltahuman is known as Antonio Riveria, his exact power is presently unknown - but he managed to cause three category eight earthquakes that nearly destroyed Southern California and created the Exclusion Zone. The National Guard and every other humanitarian group is trying their best to comb through the ashes to get a body count on how many people are lost - however, we are not here for that."

Maximilian leaned over the table as he looked down at the map. "It has been discovered that there is an abundance of Deltahumans, Delta-Crystals, and possibly Chimeras. We all know that disasters increase the chance of Chimeras, but there haven't been any reports - yet. What's concerning is that Deltahuman gangs are beginning to group and cause problems - especially with the large number of Deltacrystals that are in the area."

"Task Force RAVEN has been called in to help quell the chaos by bringing down any Deltahuman gangs, recover any Delta-crystals, and eliminate any Chimeras we encounter - and if Antonio Rivera is alive, we are to detain him."

Farrah took it all in quietly, listening intently to Maximillian's debriefing. It wouldn't be the first time she'd had to deal with Deltahuman gans or handle Delta-crystals, but Chimeras was an entirely different story. She'd study them and attended the monthly meetings on the latest Chimera reports but she'd never personally had ever come up with one. From what she read and heard, they were nasty creatures in terms of raw strength and their lack for their own safety in their mindless pursuit of other Deltahumans made them extremely dangerous. Farrah had never considered testing her metal against one, but it seemed she might get the chance soon.

Before coming here, she knew the basics of what had happened but being able to put a name, Antonio Riveria, to the cause made it all the more real. A Deltahuman able to cause so much destruction...she shuddered to think any further of it.

"When do we leave?" She waited until the boss was done before asking.
