SPARKLE PRECURE

“Twinkling in the darkness… Sparkle PreCure!”

In the Sacred Realm, saints and fairies exist thanks to humans giving them their prayers. In return, the saints bless the truly faithful with small miracles while cleansing the darkness in their Soul Shards, the personification of their hearts. One of the kindest saints ever was St. Optic, the patron saint of visionary miracles. He took care of everyone alike, even the unfaithful when many other saints ignored them. However, he made a terrible discovery - all of the darkness he was purging from his subjects wasn’t being exterminated… only being stored in his own Soul Shard! Even worse was that one of his friends, St. Viva, was discovered to have the same ailment and was nearly killed over it.

St. Optic grew desperate to save his friend and he reviled the way his fellow saints treated one of their kind. The darkness in his Soul Shard took him over before he could stop it. As a last measure, St. Optic divided a part of his Soul Shard into three and sent the fragments to reside within three pure-hearted girls. He instructed his personal fairy servant Glitter to find those girls and help them become the Pretty Cure – legendary warriors who used the saint’s power to fight darkness. Afterwards, the darkness conquered him and quickly dominated the Sacred Realm, stimulating the evil hidden within all of the other saints’ Soul Shards and turning them into his minions. This overwhelming darkness transformed the Sacred Realm into a world of evil called the Void Space.

Meanwhile, Seijinbashi is a huge bridge spanning across two landmasses and is home to the world’s affluent. Many mansions, businesses, buildings and shops are situated on Seijinbashi, making it a popular tourist attraction. Seijinbashi likewise reveres the saints, naming their largest facilities and modeling grand statues after them. The three girls live here with their wealthy families and attend St. Optic Academy, one of the world’s prestigious schools. Unbeknownst to them, Glitter is on her way to find and guide them into becoming the Sparkle PreCure… the world’s last hope against the Void Space!

**

Based off of Izumi Todo’s Pretty Cure (or ‘PreCure’) franchise, this is an original PreCure storyline and characters I had made up a few years ago but never really used. I have already designed the Cures and some main villains, and they are covered in detail below. Before that though, I want to touch upon some very important rules as I will be flexible in some instances and inflexible in others. I want you guys to understand when this will happen before you consider applying.

RULES

1. As I have made the main Cures to reflect the storyline, I will not allow new Cures to be made! I may be more open to more villains, and am definitely open to friends, family and miscellaneous side characters, but no more Cures. Three is the limit. I designed the whole thing to just use these ones. Don’t argue with me or you won’t be able to join.
2. If you wish to RP as Cure Radiant, Cure Illusion, Glitter, Closed Mind, and/or Empty Heart (as I will be playing Cure Spectra and Blind Eye), you must be dedicated to the RP! If you don’t post within a few days and make no attempt to contact me about what’s happening with you, I will simply let someone else inherit that character. I have the worst patience level in the world, and I want to RP at a steady pace rather than wait around forever for people who drop off the face of the Earth. Just because you say you want to be one of these characters doesn’t necessarily mean you either get or keep the role. They’re important to the story, and thus must be treated as such.
3. Character names should be in Japanese format. Last names should be first, while given names are second. You don’t need to use Japanese kana if you’re not familiar with them. I just added them for nerd points.
4. Character interaction and development is highly encouraged here. I’ve described the main characters as best as I can, so use their bios as guidelines while developing interesting relationships.
5. You don’t need to have watched the series prior to joining this, although some knowledge would be an asset. They’re all virtually the same, so if you’ve watched one series, you’ve watched them all. Unlike the happy and lighthearted series, this one was originally made to be a bit darker in nature, although the themes of friendship, teamwork and fashion are still prevalent.
6. Since this is the Advanced forum, please follow those guidelines for writing posts. I don’t expect long posts every time, but I do want coherent writing ability and good attention to story flow.
7. If you’re not happy with the idea of RP’ing as main OCs I made up and are desperate to make your own mains, either make up a side character who will interact with the mains a lot, or start your own RP. I put a lot of time and thought into this and would rather not manipulate things just to suit your needs. Enough said. >.>;

I think that covers everything. With that, I shall now cover the main characters for Sparkle PreCure in my next post and designate RPers to them. Afterwards, there is a CS for characters you wish to make up if you’re not interested in RPing as a main or those slots are filled. I will keep everyone updated as to each main's status so no one falls into a plot hole due to an author's absence.

CHARACTERS

CURES

Amemiya Nijika / Cure Spectra (雨宮 虹風 / キュアスペクトラ)
RP’er: benit149
Age: 15
Race: Human
Birthday: May 1
Appearance: Nijika (on right; with Hanasaki Tsubomi on left) / Cure Spectra
Catchphrase: “To reach the rainbow, you have to endure the rain.”
Personality: She is fairly aloof and has a hard time making friends. Nijika isn’t nosy, super-cheerful or energetic like typical pink PreCures, but she is empathetic and will help others when asked. She also has bouts of loneliness due to her parents being away a lot of the time. She has learned to take care of some affairs on her own such as cooking, cleaning and gardening, making her very independent.
Power: colors
Symbol: pink heart
Weapon: Spectra Ribbon, a gymnastics ribbon with a light-based rainbow that she uses to either attack or ensnare enemies
Intro Speech: “The seven colors that chase the grey gloom away, Cure Spectra!”
Abilities:
Prism Arc – Cure Spectra’s primary attack where she lashes her ribbon in an arc at the enemy like a high-powered whip. It’s strong enough to send them flying backwards or knock weapons out of their hands.
Double Rainbow – Her secondary attacks, reserved for larger or more powerful enemies. She uses all of her strength to whip the enemy like Prism Arc, which stuns them enough for her to strike again. This requires a lot of strength, speed and stamina for her to execute, so she doesn’t use it unless she’s sure her comrades will purify the enemy in her stead.
MayDay Dance – Cure Spectra’s ensnaring attack where the Spectra Ribbon breaks into seven individually colored strands, then she dances around the enemy while the streams bind the foe in an array of colorful knots and twists.
True Spectrum – Cure Spectra’s individual purifying attack, often done after MayDay Dance if she’s alone. She does several gymnastic flips to land on seven points, then summons an energy beam of each color like a spotlight on each spot she landed, which then slowly lower upon the enemy and envelops them in healing energy, dispelling the darkness and truly purifying the victim’s Soul Shard.
Bio: The pink Cure, representing colors. Nijika is empathetic and helps others when she can, but she is also shy and blunt. She’s not fond of making lots of friends, as she’s more focused on her studies. Nijika lives alone in the Amemiya mansion, as her father is a painter and her mother is a famous actor, so both of them travel abroad for long periods of time; there are also marital strains between her parents. Nijika suffers from loneliness at times and wishes she could make at least one or two close friends she can confide in. She is part of the rhythmic gymnastics club, specializing in the ribbon. Nijika also likes to bake, and hopes to become a professional cake designer when she grows up. As Cure Spectra, she is best at close range combat and has the highest defense. She uses the Spectra Ribbon and incorporates her gymnastics in battle, utilizing a long rainbow as a whip to ensnare enemies.

Arianrhod “Ari” Platina Aurelia / Cure Radiant (アリアンロッド・プラチナ・オーレリア / キュアレイディアント)
RP’er: TBD
Age: 15
Birthday: June 21
Race: Human
Appearance: Ari (will update school uniform) / Cure Radiant
Catchphrase: “Your smile is your heart’s glow.”
Personality: Ari is very friendly and personable, but tends to be a little ignorant of others’ concerns unless they’re directly told to her. When she was younger, she had a more egocentric view of the world, but has since toned it down and seeks to widen her perspective.
Power: light
Symbol: golden sun
Weapon: Radiant Orb, a flexible ball that she can throw or shoot from far away. She can generate multiple orbs for the Glory Barrage attack.
Intro Speech: “The brilliant daylight that warms frozen spirits, Cure Radiant!”
Abilities:
Glory Rush – Cure Radiant’s main attack where she chucks her orb at the enemy like a basketball, creating a blinding glory effect to stun her foe’s eyes before the attack hits.
Glory Barrage – Her secondary attack where multiple orbs are thrown at the same time, creating multiple glory effects.
Belt of Venus – A healing technique that starts gold, then shifts to pink, then dies down to a faint blue. The Cures may not need this due to their high resilience, but she could heal civilians that were caught in the line of fire.
Radiant Heat – Cure Radiant’s individual purifying attack. She creates a sun-like glyph beneath her enemy’s feet, then sends them flying into the air from a sudden blast of light, akin to a light pillar. Then a sun shines upon the enemy, slowly turning from orange to yellow to white as it becomes ‘hotter’, purifying the darkness.
Bio: The yellow Cure, representing light. The Aurelia family moved into the neighborhood recently, and Ari’s father is a business conglomerate CEO while her mother is his personal secretary. Ari doesn’t like using her full name, preferring to use her nickname. She was always spoiled throughout her childhood and became so demanding that her parents needed to back off and let her explore the world on her own. After seeing how her actions affected others negatively, Ari decided to share her wealth with others and has become much happier as a result. Ari joins the academy’s basketball club, and is happy to cheer her friends on in their own sports activities. As Cure Radiant, she is better with long range attacks with her Radiant Orb, and has the highest offensive power. She is particularly talented with purifying darkness with her power over intense light. She doesn’t do very well with close range combat, so the other Cures need to cover for her.

Byakuya Sachimi / Cure Illusion (白夜 幻 / キュアイルージョン)
RP’er: TBD
Age: 15
Birthday: March 31
Race: Human
Appearance: Sachimi (will update school uniform) / Cure Illusion
Catchphrase: “Don’t blink or you’ll miss me!”
Personality: Sachimi is highly energetic, engaging in activities at school and having lots of friends, but tends to be overenthusiastic and can wear herself and/or her friends out. Sachimi also tends to quickly lose interest in her current hobby and moves on to the next thing, which can cause frustration to those closest to her.
Power: movement
Symbol: indigo moon
Weapon: Illusion Hoop, a hula hoop that also doubles as a portal so she can perform quick escapes or clever attacks
Intro Speech: “The enchanting dance that inspires creative life, Cure Illusion!”
Abilities:
Kaleidoscope – A non-offensive skill where Cure Illusion plays with the enemy’s vision to create a kaleidoscope version of what they’re seeing for a few moments, disorienting them.
Mirror Copy – Another optical trick she uses by creating a clone of herself out of magic to act as a decoy. She cannot make clones of anyone other than herself.
Phantom Leap – Cure Illusion’s trademark teleportation skill where she creates a portal with her Illusion Hoop and passes through it, reappearing somewhere else. She can teleport others to safety, and can throw her enchanted hoop a distance so someone else can use it during an emergency.
Phantom Assault – Her only named attack. It’s similar to Phantom Leap except she makes portals to send herself at enemies who are far away, often catching them off guard.
Smoke and Mirrors – Cure Illusion’s individual purifying attack. She traps her opponent’s feet with her hoop, then does a short belly dance routine to create a magic circle before pillars of holy smoke engulfs them, purifying the enemy.
Bio: The indigo Cure, representing movement and illusions. Sachimi is the daughter of two Olympic champions, so they have pressured her to pursue sports since she was little. Originally she refused the idea because she was always tired, but after being showered with a lot of attention after winning her first track and field festival, Sachimi continued to pursue sports. It helps to keep her high energy under control and she feels invigorated after exercising, although she tends to push it at times. Sachimi hopes to become an Olympian like her parents, but she’s not obsessed with winning gold. As Cure Illusion, she plays the support role and has the highest agility, but isn’t particularly good with fighting. She uses portals, optical illusions and confusing movements to bewilder her foes so the others can get their attacks in.

ALLIES

Glitter / Amemiya Mitsue (グリター / 雨宮 みつえ)
RP’er: TBD
Race: Fairy
Appearance: Glitter
Personality: Although she doesn’t mind having fun, Glitter takes her duties too seriously at times. She’s frightened of the Void Space after witnessing it conquering the Sacred Realm and is determined to save her home.
Abilities: She can detect the three fragments that St. Optic left in the three girls and help them awaken their power. She’s able to glance into others’ Soul Shards and see how much light and darkness has accumulated. She also transforms into a human child to hide her true form.
Bio: St. Optic’s fairy servant and the only fairy remaining who wasn’t corrupted by the Void Space. He instructed her to find Nijika, Ari and Sachimi and help them become the PreCure. Although hesitant to leave her master, Glitter had to escape before he turned into Blind Eye. After accomplishing her main role, Glitter stays with the girls by transforming into a pink-haired elementary school girl named Amemiya Mitsue, posing as Nijika’s younger cousin. Glitter is unable to fight and is especially scared of Blind Eye, so she has to hide all the time.

VILLAINS

Yomiya Zenmou / Blind Eye (夜宮 全盲 / ブラインド・アイ)
RP’er: benit149
Age: unknown, appears 18
Race: Fallen Saint
Appearance: Blind Eye
Personality: He is very smug and domineering, but he despises humans and saints for how ignorant they are of each other. Even so, Blind Eye still has signs of his original personality and may show mercy to the Cures.
Abilities: He is able to extract dark energy from Soul Shards and bind it to an object, thus creating a Shikkokushi. He possesses super strength, but isn’t very fast due to his large claw and heavy armor. He isn’t able to see or open his eyes, but he still moves as fluidly as a sighted person.

Bio: Blind Eye is the leader of the Void Space and of the Fallen Saints. He was formerly St. Optic, the angel who unwittingly absorbed too much evil into his Soul Shard, under the pretense that he was purifying it. St. Optic’s love for the forgotten and unfaithful twisted into a hatred for those who deliberately ignored others. As he felt that everyone suffered and no one cared for each other, he allowed the darkness to swallow his Soul Shard and transform him into Blind Eye… but not before fragmenting a piece of his Shard off and separating it into three, then sending them upon Seijinbashi to choose three girls who could fight using the last vestiges of his power – the PreCure.

Why did St. Optic do this before becoming Blind Eye? He had a reason, but he doesn’t recall it anymore. His hatred has overshadowed his logical mind. He now sees the very heroines he created as obstacles in his quest to suck the human world into the Void Space, turning it into a world of silence and death. Ironically, Blind Eye might not try to kill the Cures outright since when he was St. Optic, he had purified the darkness in the girls’ hearts when they were children. This was why he chose Nijika, Ari and Sachimi to be the hosts for his three pure fragments and become PreCure.

Tojino Kie / Closed Mind (閉野 気愛 / クローズド・マインド)
RP’er: TBD
Age: unknown, appears 18
Race: Fallen Saint
Appearance: Closed Mind
Personality: She is ridiculously vain and biased, fully believing that her opinion is always right. She’s also vying for Blind Eye’s affection and will become jealous if anyone else tries to go for him. Although she doesn’t mind toying with male hearts, she only loves Blind Eye, not realizing that it is a one-sided love.
Abilities: She is able to extract dark energy from Soul Shards and bind it to an object, thus creating a Shikkokushi. She doesn’t like to fight the Cures directly but can create a bow and arrow made of darkness, from which she can fire barrages of dark energy blasts.
Bio: Closed Mind is one of the Fallen Saints who serves Blind Eye fervently in the hopes of winning his affection. She used to be St. Esprit, the patron saint of acceptance, but her Soul Shard was tainted due to her struggle to have St. Optic pay attention to her. She purified the unfaithful behind the saints’ backs only to further her one-sided love, not due to any compassion towards the Humans. When the Void Space took over the Sacred Realm, she willingly allowed the darkness to swallow her Soul Shard, and St. Esprit became Closed Mind.

She likes to pose as a student named Tojino Kie at St. Optic Academy, manipulating the boys in the school to follow her orders. She also harbors a grudge against the PreCure for both foiling her attempts to spread darkness and having Blind Eye pay attention to them more than her. She especially doesn’t like Nijika since Blind Eye is fixated on her for some strange reason, although Closed Mind frequently spars against Ari’s view of open-mindedness and acceptance of others’ strengths and flaws. She also hates how Blind Eye gives Empty Heart an unusual amount of affection compared to the other Fallen Saints.

Keimori Hikage / Empty Heart (傾森 暗 / エンプティー・ハート)
RP’er: TBD
Age: unknown, appears 13
Race: Fallen Saint
Appearance: Keimori Hikage / Empty Heart
Personality: Empty Heart is lazy and uninterested in anything beyond sleeping and eating sweets. The only reasons she doesn’t mind her role as a Fallen Saint is that she can help Blind Eye reduce the world into silence, thus allowing her to nap as much as she likes, and partly out of respect for when he saved her. When her talisman over her left eye is removed, Empty Heart becomes a totally different person – she goes into a calm-mannered berserk mode here, and even her fellow Fallen Saints would need to help the Cures restrain her.
Abilities: She is able to extract dark energy from Soul Shards and bind it to an object, thus creating a Shikkokushi. Normally her real fighting powers are sealed behind her talisman, but when it’s removed, she wears Wally as armor and wields Jack as a red scythe, and she can move at sonic speeds.
Bio: Unlike the other Fallen Saints, Empty Heart had a tragic beginning. Originally she was St. Viva, the patron saint of motivation and energy, and one of St. Optic’s closest friends. She purified the hearts of the unfaithful just like he was doing, but the other saints discovered the growing darkness in her heart and tried to kill her out of fear. This was the trigger for St. Optic turning into Blind Eye, and he rescued St. Viva by giving her a portion of his darkness and turning her into Empty Heart.

Unfortunately, she already has a lot of negative energy in her Soul Shard and it must be contained by keeping a sealing talisman over her destroyed left eye. Blind Eye deliberately tries not to have her too involved in his evil quest, but Empty Heart is willing to leave the Void Space if needed. After creating a Shikkokushi, Empty Heart remains in the background as an uninterested observer. Blind Eye also gave her two fairies as personal servants – Jack and Wally – who were both corrupted by darkness.

Jack (ジヤック)
Race: Fairy
RP’er: TBD
Appearance: (need to draw him, but is a red rat)
Personality: Jack is hot-blooded and sharp-tongued, often belittling others.
Abilities: Jack can transform into Empty Heart’s scythe when she goes berserk, referencing Jack the Ripper.
Bio: One of Empty Heart’s servant fairies. His name plays on the word ‘jyaku’ or ‘evil’.

Wally (ウォリー)
Race: Fairy
RP’er: TBD
Appearance: (need to draw him, but is a white sloth)
Personality: Wally is sleepy and sloth-like. He finds it funny when someone is struggling.
Abilities: Wally can transform into Empty Heart’s helmet and armor when she goes berserk.
Bio: Empty Heart’s other servant fairy. His name references the word ‘warui’ or ‘bad’.

Shikkokushi (漆黒士)
These are the monsters of the week. Shikkokushi translates into ‘Jet-Black Warriors’ and are the result of a person’s darkness being extracted out of their Soul Shard by one of the Fallen Saints and binding it into an object important to that person. The victim doesn’t feel pain, but is trapped in a coma until the Cures purify the Shikkokushi. The darkness will return to the victim’s Soul Shard, but it won’t be as potent and the person will feel happier. Shikkokushi always appear like a black-armored knight carrying a weapon, and they’re themed after whatever object the darkness was bound to.

CHARACTER SHEET

For other characters besides the main ones I made, please use this base CS to create your character. It may need to be adjusted according to what your character’s race is:

Human: Standard homo sapien. Ordinary families, friends and civilians with no special powers. Every human has a Soul Shard which contains their emotions, and their negative emotions can be extracted by Fallen Saints to create Shikkokushi.
Saint: Won’t really be used in-story since they’ve all become Fallen Saints. This is mostly used to describe who a Fallen Saint was prior to their corruption. You’re able to make a Saint in conjunction with a Fallen Saint’s bio, but it’s not needed. Saints all represented a virtue (love, happiness, truth, etc.) and were able to bless Humans based upon what they represented. Saints also possess Soul Shards, but they have all been corrupted.
Fallen Saint: The main bad guys who reside within the Void Space, with Blind Eye as their leader. They are Saints with fully corrupted Soul Shards. All of them are able to create Shikkokushi, and can make a specific weapon made out of darkness. Their character design should have armor involved since the Fallen Saints are modeled after the Black Knight archetype. Light or heavy armor is your choice, but it needs to be present. A civilian identity isn’t necessary if they don’t intend on mingling with Humans.
Fairy: The second weakest race behind Humans. These are adorable plush doll-like creatures that look like animals or mythological creatures. Every Saint had a Fairy servant, but they too have fallen victim to the Void Space’s darkness. Glitter is the only known ‘good’ fairy remaining, although others might have escaped separately. Fairies are not able to participate in combat, but they may possess some skill that can help others with combat such as transforming into weapons or armor, amplifying someone’s power, or creating a small blast of energy or a barrier.

Name:
Age: (Humans only, optional. The other races don’t need this)
Race: (Human, Saint, Fallen Saint, Fairy)
Birthday: (Humans only, optional. The other races also don’t need this)
Appearance: (Description and/or image accepted)
Personality:
Abilities: (For Saints and Fallen Saints; maybe Fairies if they can help out in some small way)

Yes, I know all of this was a lot. It took me a few days just to draft this entire thing up, and I wonder if so much story detail will turn you folks away. I hope there will be some interested and dedicated RPers who would want to see this to the end, even if I will be moderating it more strictly than usual.
