I am looking to get back into play-by-post roleplaying, and want to start a roleplay with the premise detailed in the title.

Essentially, it will be set in a Classical Mythology-inspired dark fantasy world, where you play a criminal condemned by the Empire (for a crime you may or may not have committed). Days away from execution, a mysterious man gave you an offer: elude the headsman’s axe, and join a penal unit called “Banisher” on a suicide mission towards a foreign land, where you are tasked with the assassination of an undead king in a land where nobody dies.

Points of interest:
* Seeking 4 players, who are free to create between 1-3 playable characters (you don't have to create 3, that is just the hard limit per player).
* Aesthetics and mood inspired by Dragon’s Dogma, Berserk, the Souls series, and Magic the Gathering/ DnD art.
* Dark, mature themes and mood with room for black comedy.
* Features 2 playable races/Bloodlines: Humanity (of course) and Accursed (monstrous, half-human races allegedly cursed by the Gods)
* Simple magic system where magic is the bending of your reality to create wonders or terrors, divided into Occult (offensive, forbidden magic) and Miracles (defensive, Temple-approved magic)
* By Suicide Squad, I mostly mean the Premise of press-ganged criminals.



I have more information on a google Slides presentation for interested parties, which are available upon request. Otherwise, I am happy to answer any questions. I'm generally a chill RPer who love creating stories with people, so if you have an idea that you're not sure about, I'm an open book.

so, demi-humans would be accursed, got it. also could my character have shadow manipulation and solidification as their primary magic?

Hi TruckKun, that works very well! Shadow magic would be the type of magic considered "Occult" in this world.

There are two main types of magic; Occult, which is analogous to classic fantasy wizard magic, all offense and creepiness, and Miracles, which are not directly offensive and sanctioned by the Imperial Temple.

So with the shadow magic I could only use it for offense?

That depends, can you define how you'd like to use this shadow magic? Because Occult is the umbrella term for magic the Empire doesn't like, unsanctioned by their Gods, it doesn't have to be directly offensive.

Basically, using the shadows as a weapon that he can freely control, but also using it to form armor that could bite the oncoming sword, or a ahield that grabs and ensnares the spear, or extra arms

It's kinda high-casual but with the lax rule that you can write a million words if you want or a paragraph when the mood strikes. We like the wild west jumble of styles from back in the day the hobby was more popular. And don't be intimidated by all the bbcode I got carried away as I started figuring it out :')
