Rory stepped back, towards the group, moving slowly, trying to go quietly. He doubted it would have mattered anyway.

The great four legged creature leaped, and Rory fell back. It landed, leaped up, roaring.

Shakuntala crouched, her sword in her hands, and Targen leaped towards the creature, just as a second joined in.

Targen, who arguable had the most experience in fighting as a solider, stepped forward, sword in front of him, and as one of the creatures leaped towards him, he charged in, ducking down at the last second, his blade sliced the creatures belly open. Bright red blood, fell down on him, along with whatever organs the creature possessed that he had cut as well. He rolled away as it fell to the ground, and rose, one eye opened, to search for the other one.

Shakuntala barely managed to hold back a scream as the second one turned on her. Her own sword swung uselessly as it pounced on her, getting under her guard. She slashed the air, but was unable to cut the beast. She let her sword drop, and thrust both hands under the creatures jaw as it snapped at her, keeping its head away from her face and neck. Its claws dug into her painfully as she struggled to keep the fangs away.

"Help!"

River grabbed the animal by the scruff of its neck and yanked it off of Tala, easily snapping its neck between his hands and letting it drop to the ground dead. He helped her up and looked her over. "You okay?"

Shakuntala was panting,, catching her breath having held it without meaning to. She nodded, the wounds from the creatures claws already healing, leaving behind blood stains on her shirt. "I'm fine" She said, looking for Rory, seeing him safe.

Targen grumbled, standing and heading to the river to wash off, taking his blade with him.
