Intro posts are always the hardest. You barely have anything to react to and often no real goal set that early. I think you did great. It'll only get easier now.

Joos, I was wondering is there any noticeable physical differences between the races? Or are they vaguely humanoid looking?

That's an interesting question. If you don't mind me adding my opinion...
Historically I'd say that people in hot, sandy areas tend to evolve similarly. Darker skin and narrower eyes. Some tribes grow tall others become short, that seems to be dependant on other factors like access to certain types of food. It'll be interesting to see what the GM has in mind.

Menarians and Balenians: Tall. Fair skinned. (Very European)
Turmens: Average height. Brown/bronze skinned. Dark haired. (Very Mediterranean)
Gurgans: Large, big-boned. Stocky. (Very Russian)
Gors: Very tall. Long legged. Deeply tanned to dark skinned. Leathery skin. (Very Native Central American)

They are all humans.

So that leaves poor SonofJET stranded. Don't worry. I will come to the rescue once I finish with the princess.

Done it has been.

The main reason why this took so lng was because I couldn't find a way to resolve this situation that didn't end in one of us dead or badly hurt. Even this one is pushing it a little bit but I think I have set us up for a possible conversation now.
