Inquiring; what's the idea?

Well, its about a drifter. An Irish traveling musician (me), that has a strange ability to influence people when he plays and sings. When he playa, healing, good fortune, love and hope can occur. Sort of sunshiny, I know. But, the catch is, he can turn those powers to violence if he needs to. Not to mention a secret cult group that follows him around the UK.

Where you come in- love interest that he meets in his last stop before running away to america. Problem is, his powers don't work on you.

There's quite a bit more to it, darker bits if I may add, but I don't want to spoil the fun.

What time period?

Could be modern, could be sixties or even before. He's a folk-guitarist, so that's gotta fit.
