He actually didn't shift, it's one of many dragon-style spells. In fact his shift is actually just a spell too, the highest level of Draconic Magic. In his lore that is ( ..)/

@TheMinorFall Feel free to interrupt Kirk -- and/or attack him. He probably seemed a bit menacing at least that first moment, though once he actually /has/ Amune he's grinning. If Cain does try to attack, Kirk's reaction will depend on how much danger he's in. He's one of the guards, so he has excellent training, but nothing to compare to Cain. Amune will demand Cain stop, though, if he goes after Kirk, so you might not want to take the attack too far, if he would listen to her.

@TheMinorFall As a caution, if he says something about preselecting Amune, they will call him on it -- he’s never seen her, as far as they know. He’s not seen any of the students. And he’d have to be spying on them in town or something because there definitely wasn’t any time when they had a trip for assessment, or whatever. Then again, he might have requested files from a royal archive, or something. I’m sure family trees are recorded, as well as other things. Amune might be marked as...not quite a charity case, but certainly special circumstances. Plus if there’s record of what sort of magic people have, that might have drawn his interest. ^.^;; I’m probably overthinking it. <.<

And you've got a point about Primm, though part of why Amune is in her care is because I came up with the need for a chaperone and an idea for one before I set up the school. Now to make an IC justification that makes sense and doesn't seem completely careless.

I'm not gonna lie I was kinda hoping Kirk would try something lol. But you can fast foreward to dinner. Cain would probably have to be escorted into a building full of children, at least in the eyes of the staff. Perhaps either Primm or the headmistress could meet Cain after Amune's practice and have a little chat with him. As appalled at his behavior as she is, she must be curious both of him and his purpose. She seems like the kind of woman who might try to understand things, seeing as she is not so put off by either Cain or Amuné as Primm is. As far as Kirk he sounds like he wants to settle the score, so how about this. He has a small tiff with Cain, and is losing until Amuné tells Cain (probably emotionally) not to hurt him and the whole staff is amazed by his obedience. Then headmistress can have her little chat with him. Then dinner. Cool?

@TheMinorFall Hm...he does really dislike being shown up like that, and he is impulsive, but I dunno if he'd be stupid enough to attack an approved guest -- certainly not in the dining hall. Might maybe have a spar -- does Cain understand the concept of a spar? Might he go overboard? But that'd be in the training ground and wouldn't be in front of all the staff, though it might be in front of a number of the guard and certainly the word would spread.

Martinez knows Cain's purpose, officially, but she might ask why he chose Amune -- off the record, at least. I honestly am not sure Primm cares. ^.^;;
