Aurora wasn't sure how this situation was going to be for her. When she had first gotten the call that her father had fallen and gotten hurt she had been so worried. She didn't want to loose her father, the only living relative she had left. But thankfully, he was going to be alright. She had been informed not too long after she had arrived at the hospital that he was going to live and be close to normal again. But, in order to heal properly, they were sending him to a rehabilitation center for a few months. She hadn't been too worried about that, but it was when she got word that his bosses were planning on firing him because he couldn't work for those few months, she had frantically called them, trying to make a deal with them so her father would not loose his job. And, they did indeed come up with a solution. While her father was rehabilitating, Aurora would stay int he mansion and work for them there cleaning and such until her father grew well enough to get back to work cleaning the mansion himself.

It was why she was standing there now, a backpack on her back, standing at the door of the rather large mansion, an unsure and nervous look on her face. Biting her lip, she reached a hand up, knowing on the door softly and within moments an elderly woman answered the door, looking down at her, "We don't want to buy anything."

When the woman went to slam the door, Aurora quickly, put her hand on the door, "W-wait! I'm Aurora! Mourise's daughter!"

The woman opened the door back and though she didn't seem too happy about having a teenaged girl in the house nodded, "Ah. Yes. I was told you would be arriving today." She sighed and turned, waving her hand for her to follow, "Very well. Follow me. I shall show you your room. You are expected to begin work immediately." Aurora followed the woman up the stairs and placed her bag on her bed before being lead right back out and given many instructions on what to do. It was a lot of cleaning. Apparently her father had been the only one to clean the whole mansion. In fact, there were only three workers in the mansion, which she found surprising considering how big the place was.

Even though it was a lot of work, if it was to save her father's job, she would do it and do it to the best of her ability. She went to work right away, moving from room to room, cleaning as much as she could. There were many rooms and still when she got done with them they were all spotless. Finally she finished the last room and to her surprise, a few hours had passed and it was well into the night. She stood up and sighed in relief, putting her cleaning supplies away before trudging up the stairs, hoping to get to her room for some sleep.

It was a stressful job caring for Adam. He’d grown from the sweet and caring little boy she’d gotten to know and love to a monster who fought everyone over everything. But she loved him, he was her little brother after all and she wasn’t going to turn her back on family. Abigail Rietherman might not have had much growing up in life, before she moved in with her busy mother and step-father who barely remembered birthdays and holidays, but family was still as important to her as it had been in her childhood. Adam and Abigail had been complete strangers for six years of his life, meeting at the respective ages of six and ten; they hit it off almost instantly.

Something had changed in Adam over the years, in particular right after a nasty dispute with an elderly client named Eleanor at her step-father’s company did Adam change.

He’d become animalistic, going as far as tearing apart his room and biting the housekeepers. Many had left but three remained loyal for their paychecks.

Abigail discarded her glasses on the coffee table before flopping back first into a plush burgundy colored arm chair in the corner of the living room. She rubbed her temples in slow circles as she thought of what she would do for Adam. It was getting to the point that she was considering leaving once he turned eighteen and was able to care for himself. Their mom and Stephen weren’t home enough to care for their son and the staff had left so quickly. There was hope though; Maurice’s daughter was coming to work for them. She was Adam’s age and just maybe he needed someone his age to break through his hard shell. After a little while Abigail left the mansion to go to the store to buy a new living room vase since her brother had smashed the old one a few hours prior.

--

Adam was in a sour mood like he always was. There was a gnawing anger inside of him, as if he were turning into an animal. He had destroyed his room once more; the pictures were torn from the walls and a few new holes were added in their place. His bed had been ripped apart and the pillow stuffing decorated the floor like freshly fallen snow. He was unable to control his anger and little things agitated him but he was increasingly worried that he would become worse.

Adam didn’t want to hurt those he held dear to him. He feared injuring his sister or the staff and frequently had nightmares about it. Tonight’s rampage had to do with his sister Abigail. His hand ached from hitting the wall, his knuckles were bruised and thankfully the skin wasn’t broken open. The small weight set which consisted of dumbbells ranging from 5 to 35 pounds was still in the corner of his room, partially buried under shredded ben sheets. Not only was Adam acting more and more like a caged animal but he was beginning to grow thicker hair on his arms, legs and chest. Well that wasn’t normal was it? God he was a seventeen year old boy who still didn’t know much about this whole “you went through puberty thing but your body shouldn’t still changing besides a few things” idea that was fed into his mind by school teachers.

He had noticed that the tips of his ears were getting pointy, much like a cat or dog’s ears. Adam kept his hair long enough to hide the slightly pointed tips and he sure as hell wasn’t going to ask his sister if it was normal. As it grew dark outside he was beginning to calm down slightly. Adam could hear fumbling around and knew it must have been the replacement worker that his sister had told him about. Oddly enough his outburst had been about the new worker.

Aurora was definitely ready for bed by the time she was done with all the cleaning the head servant had instructed her to do. It was indeed very late but she supposed she should get used to it. With her still being in high school it was likely she would have to go to school during the day the come back to the mansion right after and clean, which would take until late at night, if not early morning before dawn. It would be a lot of work, and would leave her exhausted, but it was worth it if she could help her elderly father out while he recovered. It was the only thing a good daughter like herself could do. He was the only family she had left and vise versa. He supported her and took care of her for so long. Now it was her turn to do the same for him.

Walking up the stairs slowly, ready to go to her room so she could go to bed, she heard something that was strange to her. A growl. Pausing at the top of the stairs, she hesitantly followed the sound, down the hallway in the opposite direction of her room. She remembered being told something about the two children of the owners having a couple of dogs, so her first thought was that maybe the dogs had been closed up in a room by mistake. Slowly she took hold of the knob of the door she thought she heard the growl come from and carefully pushed the door open to see something that shocked her. The room before her was torn apart. The mattress was flipped from the bed, any sort of fabric in the room was ripped, pictures were torn from the walls, broken glass littered the floor, stuffing and feathers were all over the floor. And standing in the middle of it all, was a rather frightening looking man.

She looked at him with wide blue eyes that clearly showed her fear as she backed back from the door way quickly, backing right into the elderly female servant who had showed her around the mansion when she had first arrived. The woman quickly gripped Aurora's shoulder, moving her away from the sight and a few steps down the hall. As she was pushed from the door she swore she saw the boy flash animal like fangs. The servant, after getting her away from the doorway, moved back to the doorway, speaking briefly to the boy, "My greatest apologies. I hadn't had the chance to inform the girl of the rule concerning this hall way and your room. I will do so immediately. This will nrvet happen again." The servant shut the door, quickly leading the slightly shaken Aurora down the hall.

Adam recoiled from the horrified sound that came from the new worker. He hated people seeing this, the destruction that came with his anger. “ABIGAIL!” the teen bellowed as he made his way from his room. In the long hallways his voice echoed, coming back to him as several smaller yelps of his sister’s name.

“What?” She stood in the door way of her own room, located half ways down from his. Abigail was already dressed for bed and it was easy to see that with her messed up hair, Adam had woken her up.

“That damned—“

“Language Adam, the girl is our worker and she did not know. I will inform her in the morning now get to sleep, alright? Mom and Stephen will be home in a few days so you better be getting your room cleaned for them soon.” Abigail was one person that Adam couldn’t shove around like everyone else in the house. He scowled as his sister brought him into a tight hug; her arms were around his middle. “I love you, little brother.” She teased before saying goodnight to him and slamming the bedroom door behind herself. Adam stood in the hallway alone. Had she really talked to him like he was a kid?

Stalking away he went to raid the kitchen for a snack. Adam found and apple and he took it to his bedroom. He hated to see the servants, he hated that they were there. That they were judging him. He couldn’t help this anger; Adam didn’t know what he was becoming and he was too frightened to ask for help.

After she was taken away from the horrified scene, Aurora was told to just stay in her room for the remainder of the night. She was so confused and frightened and.....curious. Why had that strange boy torn his room apart like so? And why had he seemed so angry. More so, why did he seem so...beastly? She pondered this as she went into the bathroom that was connected to her room, taking a shower before getting in her pajamas, ready for bed. She hadn't exactly unpacked yet, but she supposed she would to wait to do so when she wasn't so tired and had more time. The blonde girl sighed as she flopped onto the bed, snuggling under the blankets and resting her head on the soft pillows, quickly falling asleep.

It was no more than ten minutes after falling asleep that she began tossing and turning before sitting up in bed and walking out of the room, her expression dim and eyes glazed over, as all sleepwalkers looked when roaming about. She on a normal basis only sleep walked when she was getting stressed, and lately her life had been rather stressful. Dealing with school, working and having to live in a new place, seeing that strange boy, knowing her father was all alone in that recovery center. It was no surprise Aurora was sleep walking. It would have been a surprise if she hadn't been.

She walked along down the hallways, picking and straightening up as she would if she were awake, making her way through the mansion until she finally made it to the very room she shouldn't have gone in. She walked into the beast like boy's room, picking up an straightening up certain things, moving in a slow pace that seemed almost mechanical.

She continued her sleeping work, unaware of the anger this might bring the boy and of the danger she might be in by causing such anger.

Adam was a night owl and the darkness seemed to calm his irritable personality. Sitting in his dark room, the boy was enjoying his sweet red apple when the girl from earlier entered and began to clean. There was something robotic about the way that she walked and moved as she picked his belongings up and put them somewhere proper. Adam was more curious than anything about this sudden bold move. Only his sister was unafraid of his outbursts and to have someone not even know he was watching them was something that the teen did not encounter on a regular basis.

Tossing the half eaten apple to the floor, where it landed on a shirt with a muted thud, the boy followed her mechanical movements as she picked up various other things. Was she sleep walking or was she simply someone who would be unafraid of him? Adam towered over her, like he did to many people. Reaching a hand out towards her, he quickly retracted his hand and simply studied her. The blonde girl seemed to be about his age, if not a year younger. Adam was going to be eighteen soon.

"Hey." he said after a few more minutes of the girl picking things up. He put a hand on her shoulder and spun her around to face him. "Girl!" Adam waved a hand in her face and he felt his lower eye lid twitch ever so slightly. His patience was already wearing thin with her.

Hidden a bit further into his large bedroom was a red rose in an old glass bottle that rested on the only shelf that did not have its contents spilled upon the floor and it's shelves broken. Glancing back at it he hoped that she wouldn't see it. Adam couldn't remember the significance of the rose and bottle to him but he did remember that over the years the rose was blooming without dirt and water. It didn't even have roots!

Aurora continued to pick up things around the room that were strewn about the floor, putting them on shelves or other places int he room, unaware of the young man-beast that was there with her, watching her as she went about her business. She knelt down to pick up a glass from the floor that had once probably held some sort of drink and was about to set it on the desk when the boy spoke. She didn't hear his greeting in this state she was in. It was only when he spun her around to face him and shouted at her that she awake with a jerk, her eyes wide and frightful at being awakened in such a way. It hadn't been just the fact that it was him waking her up. If anyone had woken her up that way she would have reacted just the same.

Of course, it being him, staring down at her with those strange animal like eyes at him didn't help the situation at all. It did nothing but cause her more fear. She looked about frantically, trying to figure out where she was and how she had gotten there. It didn't take her long to see she was in the angry boy's room, but the question still stood on how she had gotten there. She first considered maybe he had taken her from her room and brought her there, but the angry look on his face at her presence told her otherwise. That left her sleepwalking. She hadn't sleepwalked in a few months now. It only happened when she was extremely worried or stressed, but then again, she could definitely count leaving in this place with such a beastly figure a stressful situation.

Her eyes still wide with fear, she took a few quick steps back, only to yelp in pain and surprise as her bare foot made contact with a shard of glass that layed on the floor from some broken nic-nac which had most likely been thrown from one of the many broken shelves in the room. She didn't let that hurt foot stop her though. She turned and ran out of the room, going down the hall to her own bedroom, shutting the door quickly behind her and locking it. Sobbing lightly, she slid down to sit on the floor, holding her foot tightly to try and stop the bleeding.

When the girl was finally calmed down enough from her fright and uncertainty, she slowly moved her hand away from her foot and looked it over. It was fairly deep and she wasn't sure whether she would need stitches or not. But, even if it did, she couldn't get them. She didn't have the money for doctors. Carefully standing from where she was, she limped to her bathroom that was connected to her room and flipped the tub a few inches, sitting on the edge of the tub and putting her foot in the water to wash the blood away. It was after that that searching through the cabinets in the bathroom, she found a first aid kit. She took out a roll of bandages and wrapped her foot up tightly, all the while her mind racing.

Why was that boy locked up in his room like so. And more importantly, why was he so...animal like? He looked somewhat like a human. His face was pretty much human like in certain ways, but in others, he was very much like a beast. Thick hair. Pointy ears. And she was sure she had seen fangs. How as it possible for him to be a man and a beast at the same time? Was it even possible? She wasn't sure of anything anymore. But, what she did know, was that she wanted to find out. As much as he scared her. As much as she detested having to live in the same home as him. Her curiosity was overbearing and when Aurora was curious, she didn't always do the smartest things. Though, those not so smart things would have to wait until she could move around on her hurt foot better.

Letting the pink tinted water out from the tub and washing it out, she limped back into her room before she heard a knock at her bedroom door. Not sure who it was, as it could be one of the servants, or even that beastly boy, she slowly moved to the door, a nervous look on her face as she cracked the door open to see who it was.
