The first one. Then using lettuce is very asian. As for the rest, Shigetoshi wouldn't know because they haven't been laid out.

Cutlets and that dish you named are actually rather different. Not sure how do describe how, but it is :P And the leaves are just decortation for the other dish :P

You are correct. I wrote the wrong word. It was looking at Tonkatsu which is used in Katsudon and decided to write the wrong one. Tonkatsu is Japanese pork cutlets.

Huh, *Looks it up* Cutlets are not traditional Japaneses cuisine.

Wiki - The cutlet was introduced to Japan during the Meiji period, in a Western cuisine restaurant in the fashionable Ginza district of Tokyo. The Japanese pronunciation of cutlet is katsuretsu.

So, it is foreign food, just not unheard of :P *Looks it up further* IN fact, the oldest I can see is tied between America and Germany, so in our time setting, Cutlets may not have actually made it to Japan yet. :P *Teases* Sorry, I had to look it up.

Well, if it's the Edo period which was between 1603 and 1867 though since we did add in European influence the story should be near the end of the era, so maybe somewhere in 1840-1860?
