Masha

"I would say I meet most of the requirements for the rescue team. Mostly being quick, silent and nimble, being an amateur gymnast and all that. Hell, I can squeeze through any hole, pipe, gate you want. Although I can't shoot a gun that well, unlike Christian. But I would still prefer to be part of the diplomatic team, thank you," Masha said to no one in particular, tapping her fingers on the smooth table top.

Masha knew however that things not always go as smoothly as planned. Especially in space. And certainly not with a captain as absent-minded and tired as Mr. Di Liberto? For all she knew, she would be jumping, twisting and doing handstands to dodge bullets in no time, and probably because of some silly miscalculation on the captain's part. She sighed thinking of the procedure. But at least she would get to wear the space suit for the first time and work with her crew mates on what was going to be a story to tell back on Earth. Hey, you know I rescued some chaps from an alien ship? Yeah, that's right. A modern day, real-life space opera! There was even a sword-fight and booty to plunder! Some of the spices were actually hallucinogenic drugs.

The captain finally let the whole thing go and ended the meeting. Masha had more questions, of course, but she didn't want to bother the boss. He probably had issues juggling all the steps of the plan as it was, and more complications would send him to overdrive. Instead, she got up, saluted the boss and bade all colleagues farewell until later. Well, until the next random voice summonings. She got out and went away the way she had come, the first to leave the meeting, and headed straight for her room to clean and prepare. However, when she reached her locked room, she realised she had left her card in the training rooms. "Damn it."

A tiny white droid was heard droning and beeping past her, turning its head this way and that. "Hey, droid!" she said and the thing turned to her. A lens flashed and scanned her eye. A green smiley face appeared on the display: :-) . "Can you go to the training room and grab my card for me, please? I can't get it." The droid beeped again, and made a sound which was the robot equivalent of an 'ow, man!' "Come on! I will give you something nice as soon as I am done preparing. I have mission today." The smiley face on the display was by then a sad red frown :-( ; but after a second the smiley appeared again and the thing signaled a yes by going up and down on its suspension. The display showed: OWE BIG TIME...! . It then spun around itself a couple of times and raced in the direction of the training room, leaving Masha to wait for it, sitting on the floor with her back against her door.
