I nod, deactivating my weapon and holding it over my head. As I walk towards the Revolution group, Xan disperses the smoke. "Peace, friends. I am Becca Twilight, ally to Mand'alor. We noticed your fight here and decided to lend our aid."

Deandra

A woman in a torn jacket lowers her weapon slightly. "I appreciate the assist. That was a nifty trick you pulled." She turns to a dark skinned old man with a thick mustache. "Remind me to incorporate more smoke bombs into our next mission."

Jheri

"Yes, ma'am."

A gruff looking middle aged man isn't as quick to lower his weapon. "Oh no, don't be so quick to thank them. Twilight's the last name of that Hayden brat who thought the Revolution was untouchable and got Salazar killed." Another, younger man joined him, though he was clearly newer to the group.

Ren

"Not to mention she tried to kill the Supreme Chancellor in the first place, which is why we are where we are."

Jerus Je'and

I emerge from the smoke screen next, my twin blaster pistols still smoking slightly from the firefight and the two men suddenly decide to point their weapons elsewhere. "Yeah, that's what I thought. Look, we need to know if any of you have seen a young man named Jude Sucal. We...lost track of him and the ship he was on and have reason to think he fled here to try and find support with his old Revolution pals."

"A kid? Hmmm... I remember seeing a couple of kids in the Industrial Sector, though I guess everyone is a kid to me. BUT they did land in a fancy lookin' ship. Stood out like a Wookiee at a Jawa convention."

Becca Twilight

"Kids? As in more than one?"

Jheri

"Yeah! There was a sour faced little boy, a real sad lookin' girl bundled up in robes, and a foxy lady with white streaks in her hair."

Becca Twilight

I make a disgusted face. "That would be my daughter you're talking about, so I suggest avoid adjectives when referring to her in the future." I look at Jerus. "The sour boy and sad girl sound about right. Can't believe Hayden's mixed up in all this again."

I shrug as the group waits for us to address them again. "I don't think she could ever NOT be mixed up in this. Not with the way Sucal went after her the first time. If he can't turn her, she may represent the greatest threat to his plans if she gets her hands on him." I shake my head as I turn back to the group. "See which way they went?"

Harn

"No clue, sorry. The fighting picked up again shortly after they arrived. If I had to guess though, and I'm only telling you this so you're out of our hair, the Mandalorian central command might know something. They set up in a big old hotel overlooking the Senate district and it's shield." He glanced off to the right, where more fighting could be heard distantly. "Can we go now? Got more important things than chasing some crazy people and their servant."

Jerus Je'and

Resisting the urge to knock the teeth out of the guy, I nod and the group heads off towards the sounds while I face Becca. "Guess we'll need more help from the Mandolorians than we thought. Aren't Gavin and Cosen supposed to be heading the Revolution's efforts?"

"Supposedly, and you remember how cozy Hayden and Cosen were back in the day." I think back momentarily to when Jerus spent an entire day searching for the twins on Dantooine, all the while Hayden insisting they weren't the criminls we thought they were. If only we'd known where that would all lead. "If Hayden went to Mandalorian command, and Cosen and Gavin are there..."

Xanthippe Naberrie

"They are probably regrouping with people they know." I walk over at last. I didn't want to show myself to the Revolutionaries in case they recognized me. A senator from Naboo in the lower city would raise too many questions. "But if Hayden is with the Mandalorians, could we not request that they apprehend her for us? You insist they are on our side, so why not make them prove it?"

Becca Twilight

"I don't know if they would listen to us." I frown. "If HJ were here, things might have been different. Maybe he could have appealed to Ava and gotten her to help. If we try to approach her, I'm afraid she'll wall herself off behind the Mandalore the Risen persona and refuse our appeal."

I sigh. "There's another thing too. I didn't think anything of it when we were landing, but the Mandalorians in orbit said that until Manda'lor herself arrived planet side, one of the Battle Masters of Clan Ordo was in charge of the ground forces, one chosen by Manda'lor herself." I look in the direction the hotel was in and shake my head. "Temari Ordo, the woman who taught me to fight and what it meant to kick ass professionally. Unofficially, she adopted me into the clan, but because she didn't go through the ceremony, I haven't been recognized as a member yet. She's old and old fasioned, Becca, and wouldn't approve of Ava and HJ. If she's in charge down here, it might be her doing that Jude, Hayden and Korre aren't...contained."

"So, they've trusted a Galactic War era Mandalorian, former ally of the Sith Empire, with the siege of Coruscant? I see nothing wrong with that strategy."

Becca Twilight

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "And it's unlikely she'll even call Mand'alor on our behalf. But Ava can't be completely oblivious to this plan, can she? Wouldn't it be treasonous to keep something like this a secret?"

Xanthippe Naberrie

"I doubt they would think of it that way. It's a tiny matter in comparison to the conquest. To this Temari, it is likely not a matter of keeping a secret so much as not bothering to inform Mand'alor of an irrelevant detail."

Becca Twilight

"Still, it worries me that the Mandalorians might not be fully behind Ava. They're following her orders as honor demands, but I wonder how many loopholes they are willing to exploit to undermine her authority here." I start walking in the general direction of the hotel, hoping the others will follow.

I shake my head as I follow Becca. "It's not a loophole. As Ava's chosen ground commander, it's her call on whether or not to detain them and clearly letting them go about their business has more benefit to the battle. I'm just glad the little punk seems to have forgotten about dad's shielding Korre from detection, otherwise we'd be having bigger problems."

“At least that gives us a chance. If we can reach this command base, we might be able to stop them before they do... whatever it is they’re planning.”

Xanthippe Naberrie

“And if the Mandalorians try to stand in our way... let ME deal with them. They have never considered me an ally. If I fight my way inside and rescue Korre, you two may remain guiltless and maintain your alliance.”

Becca Twilight

“I would rather it not come to a fight, but I know they will not have their honor questioned. Making demands will only anger tthem, and they aren’t much for negotiation.” Sighs. “Let’s hope Ava arrives on planet soon and takes command of the ground forces. I’d rather treat with her than with a staunch traditionalist.”

I chuckle at Xan's statement, shaking my head before responding to Becca. "The problem with that thought process," I say as the hotel slowly looms into view, "is that you're trusting Manda'lor to throw away her culture's traditions." I tap my twin pistols as we get closer. "I just hope you're ready to fight whether she does or doesn't."

Hayden Twilight

In one of the lower rooms of the Mandalorian hotel base, Jude and I are setting up our supplies. “The girl can take the bed. I’ll take the pullout couch. Jude, you get the floor.”

Korre

I sit on the bed, glaring at Hayden. “You keep calling me ‘the girl’ or ‘the vessel’. Is it because saying my name makes me a person? Saying my name makes you realize I’m not just some object, but a human that you have kidnapped and are threatening?”

Hayden Twilight

“Who’s being threatened? I gave you the comfortable bed, didn’t I? I’m kept you safe. I’m just not pampering you like my family did.” Behind me, the door open, and I turn to see a Mandalorian standing there. “Can we help you?”

Kamari Ordo

I step into the room. “I heard Cosen had recruited the famous Hayden Twilight. I had to see for myself.” I look her up and down. “You look nothing like the holos.”

Hayden Twilight

“It’s the hair, I’m sure. Had it cut a while ago, and still waiting for it to grow back.”

Kamari Ordo

“I see.” It wasn’t just the hair though. Hayden looked a lot older than the wanted holograms showed. She’s clearly been through a lot in the last year and a half. My eyes quickly glance over the teenage boy I assume to be Jude Sucal, and then I notice the girl on the bed. “And who is that?”

Jude Sucal

“She’s our business. We are meeting with Cosen and Gavin later to talk about what to do with her.”

Kamari Ordo

“So she’s a prisoner then?”

Hayden Twilight

“It’s for her own safety and the safety of the Galaxy. Your boss, Temari, agreed to our terms.”

Kamari Ordo

“She also made it clear that we had to keep you in line. Cosen and Gavin are on our side, but they are still under heavy watch. You two we trust even less, and I find this whole idea extremely dishonorable. The Mandalorians should have no part in threatening people who can’t defend themselves.”

Hayden Twilight

“She is far from defenseless, I assure you. The child she carries is extremely dangerous.”

Korre

“He is not! You are only speculating out of fear of what you don’t know!”

Hayden Twilight

I sigh heavily. Not this stupid argument again. “Don’t you understand that it can never have a normal life? Why are you so keen to protect it when you know it can only lead to more problems?”

Korre

“Because I know that HE isn’t a threat. My son will not be born evil. That isn’t how it works. No matter how much of a monster this Sith Emperor was, he wasn’t born like that.”

Jude Sucal

“I don’t know about that. I’ve heard stories. They say he murdered his father and tortured his mother as a toddler, and conquered his home planet as a young child.” I give Korre a look. “The way I see it, that baby already has a head start on Vitiate, seeing as how it killed Ryder before it was even born.”

Kamari Ordo

My heart drop. “Wait... what did you say?”

Jude Sucal

“This ‘defenseless’ girl killed Ryder Twilight. He learned that this baby was intended to be the reborn Sith Emperor, whom he defeated during the war. He tried to stop it, so it lashed out and killed him on the spot. Already, it’s too powerful to control.”

Korre

“Ryder tried to kill me first! My son was just trying to protect us! He’s not evil!”

Kamari Ordo

I step back, bracing myself against the doorway. I’m afraid that if I don’t, I’ll fall over. My head is rushing, and so many emotions are bubbling to the surface. “You.... My fa.... You did wha....?” My hand gropes for the door controls, and I eventually manage to shut down. Barely keeping my emotions in check, I stalk off down the hall towards my quarters.

Hayden Twilight

I cock an eyebrow. “Huh. What’s his problem?”

A group of Clan Chiefs are gathered in the staging room of our hotel base. This is a private meeting between Mandalorians, so no Revolution members are present. I pace back and forth in front of the miniature hologram of the Senate District. There is a red zigzag line leading from the edge of the map to the center, where Presidential Palace sits. “So, the slum rats actually managed to find a way inside?”

Khomo Fett

My burned face contorts into as close to a smile as I can manage. “Yeah, the sewer system. The Pubs are so worried about protecting their tops, they ain’t watching what’s coming form below. Perfect for us to sneak up and bugger them in the backside.”

Zarka Saxon

“Only if the strike team we send is efficient enough to get in undetected and turn off the shields. I don’t put my stock in these Revolution criminals Mand’alor is forcing us to work with.”

“His mother too, the one they call Vette. She is skilled with machines and computers. She might prove useful in bringing the shield down stealthily.”

Khomo Fett

“Stealth is no fun. Why not set off an explosive? That’s the Mandalorian way.”

Zarka Saxon

“There will be plenty of time for pyrotechnics AFTER the Shield is down.” I look over the map again. “I assume Gavin will want to hand pick his own strike team? He knows them better than anyone. What about his sister?”

"She will be dealing with another issue, one that could have the whole planet turning on us if it is not brought to heel. As for the strike team, he has yet to share who he wishes it to be with me. It's possible he doesn't know and it's possible he doesn't trust as many of his own people as he used to. You were briefed on the body that Cosen Gressh and I found at the Revolution meeting place?"

"Regardless, our real concern isn't the strike team shutting down the shield, it's going to be those Sith Hunter droids waiting for us on the other side. Jakito Twilight's intel on them was less than reassuring. Do we have the anti-armor attachments in place on the turrets and basilisks?"

"We have upgraded the turrents and Basilisks to be able to pierce the latest in Republic space craft armor... but these Sith Hunters have shells unlike anything we've seen before. We've encountered very few of them outside the shield, so it looks like the Chancellor is hoarding them close as a final defense. If we could get a piece of that armor, we might be able to work out a way to beat it."

Khomo Fett

"Hell, if we had a piece of that armor, we could reverse engineer it for our basilisks. Wouldn't that be something?"

Zarka Saxon

"It would, but first we need to down one, and that opportunity rarely presents itself. The Pubs see fit to send only their troopers and lesser war droids to face us. Like Enra said, they are keeping their big guns in reserve."

"My squad encountered one of them two days ago. High powered blaster cannons and personal ray shielding, not to mention armor that is highly resistant to blasters. Unlike their big brothers though, they've got a few weak points. A few well placed shots at their joints, or several rapid hits to the same area is enough to break through their shells. But to take advantage of that, you gotta get past the ray shields and survive the rapid fire volleys."

Enra Rook

"We'll manage. We always have, and we always will." Outside, the sound of ship engines descend towards the base can be heard. Through the window, the Clan Chiefs can see Mand'alor's personal shuttle and a escort of two Mandalorian starfighters flying down towards the penthouse landing pad.

Zarka Saxon

"Our 'sole ruler' finally joins us on the ground. Good. Now, perhaps, we can make some headway."
