The world is in a dire situation as oversize bug-like creatures known as Pests multiply and spread all over the planet. Everyone lives in enclaves and is packing a gun as young as 12. The human race might not have survived the sheer numbers the creatures if not for the efforts of the high tech mercenary company known as Maniacles Corporation. With their scientific advancements, their laser weapons and suits of power armor they pushed back the hordes of Pests enough so the people could enjoy a life similar to that which the had before the outbreaks. Some people complained of oppression under the martial law by this company, but were silenced. Anyway...that is not important.
You are a Maniacles Mercenary briefed with a strange assignment. The upper management of Maniacles has discovered an island settled by people claiming to be mages. The even more extraordinary thing about this island is there are no Pests. The annoying thing is its close to Antarctica. Hope you don't mind the cold!
