Alexander stood with his father near the entrance to Platform 9 and 3/4. On his baggage trolley sat three suitcases and a birdcage housing the owl he'd had since he was a child, a barn owl named Peregrine. He spoke to his father in a hushed voice, watching as his father checked his watch constantly. "Dad! I won't miss the train!" He complained. His father just scowled and responded in a cold tone, "Better safe than sorry, my son."

Juniper stood with her muggle parents, bouncing back and forth on the heels of her feet. "Oh my god this is so exciting!"
It was clear from how the parents stood that they were muggles, her father ruffling her hair. "I know buttercup, I can see you're excited." He teased. Her luggage was stacked beside her, a tabby cat curled up on the top of the stack.
Juniper's mum smiled at the pain. "I can't believe my little girl is so grown up!"

Alexander's father noticed the excited girl with a displeased scowl. "Muggles. Still can't believe Dumbledore allows muggles," He'd glance at his watch. "Time to go, son." Alexander smiled then turned his trolley and went onto the platform finally, almost getting swept up in the throng of wizards, witches, and muggles. He easily found his older brother, Charles, and the two waited for their time to board the train. Alexander stood out from his brother, being shorter- of course- but his features were much more pronounced than Charles'. They almost didn't look like family.

Juniper noticed the scowl and grinned at the man, giving him an enthusiastic wave. She too was swept up in the flurry of movement and, after managing to say goodbye to her parents, soon found herself on the train. She didn't know a soul at Hogwarts and, as excited as she was, she was as equally nervous. The young girl moved throughout the train and breathed a sigh of relief when she was finally able to locate an empty booth on the train to essentially hide in.

As the train began to move, Alexander left his brother's side to find somewhere to be alone. He moved confidently, but felt the exact opposite. By chance, the only "empty" car was the one Juniper was in. He didn't notice her at first, just quietly sitting down in the far back corner and taking out a book. He wasn't a nerd, just bored.

Juniper raised an eyebrow at the boy entering the booth she was in. She took the book as a not-so-subtle way of saying don't talk to me. She looked out of the window, grinning. "This is so cool." She muttered. Her cat was curled up on the bench beside her, fast asleep. She couldn't believe she was a witch, couldn't believe she was going somewhere like Hogwarts. It was like some sort of amazing dream.

"Sure it is, Muggle," Alexander purred, lowering the book. He hadn't even noticed Juniper until now, and he disliked her already. "I don't see how a muggle like you made it into Hogwarts."

Juniper tilted her head a little at the name. "Whats a muggle? And why are you being such a jerk?" She frowned in annoyance. "You don't even know my name. You don't need to be mean for no reason. You'll end up with no friends acting like that."

"The only one who won't have friends is you. Nobody likes anybody who comes from a non-magical family," He responded, shaking his head. He was rather calm for someone being so toxic. He had just grown up with the dislike for Muggles and Mudbloods. It was how he had been raised. "I'm not being a jerk. Just stating the facts."

Juniper rolled her eyes. "Sure, whatever you say." She muttered, turning to look out of the window. "I would rather be a muggle than be like you." She hated judgemental people and this guy was one of the most judgemental people she'd ever met. She pulled a small music player from her bag and put her headphones on. "I'm gonna be ignoring you now."

"Mudblood," He muttered, returning to his book until his brother walked in. His brother had been at Hogwarts for three years, and already could tell by Alexander's annoyed expression that he'd been being toxic again. "Alex. Can we talk?" Charles asked his little brother. Alexander set his book down reluctantly, glaring as he followed his brother out of the car. Charles shot an apologetic glance at Juniper before vanishing to speak harshly to his brother about not being toxic.

Juniper was a little surprised by the sudden appearance of the older boy and even more surprised by the glance from him. She tried to focus on the window but couldn't stop her nosey nature. She moved over to the door, trying to listen in on the converstation.

"I told you to be nice, Alexander! Just because Father dislikes those from Muggle families doesn't mean Dumbledore doesn't! I don't mean to condisend, but you need to be nice- even to those from non-magical families! This is Hogwarts, not- not the Bennett Estate," Charles almost slipped up, but he noticed Juniper listening, though he paid no notice directly to her. Alexander lowered his head and muttered a soft apology. "I don't want to hear it, Alex. You know who you need to apologize to, and don't make excuses this time!" Charles snapped. Alexander visibly winced at his brother's tone but nodded, not saying a word.

Juniper didn't understand a lot of what was being said but scurried back to her seat and put her headphones back on. So, his name was Alex. At least now she knew what he was called and she wouldn't have to spend the new few hours referring to him as the jerk.
Juniper wasn't stupid. She knew bigotry when she heard it and she knew what it sounded like when someone had been taught it. She forced herself to take a deep breath and made a mental note to give him a break.

Alexander was pretty much escorted back into the car by Charles, who went and took a seat farther from the first-years. Alexander did not apologize until Charles sighed. "Alexander..." He warned. Alexander stood from where he had sat back down and approached Juniper. "Hey. Look. I'm sorry," He muttered. "Mudblood." "ALEXANDER!" Immediately, Charles stood, his hand going to his wand. He wouldn't do anything but his brother was annoying him. Alexander didn't look at Charles as he returned to his seat. "What? Technically I apologized." Charles just shook his head, turning to Juniper. "I apologize for my brother. He's quite... childish." Charles' tone was much kinder than Alexander's, and it showed just how different the brothers were.

Juniper watched the exchange and remained calm as she turned to Charles. "Mudblood, that's some kind of slur right? Like a really bad name to call someone?" She managed to keep her tone calm and even as she spoke to the older, her eyes darting to the younger lad every now and then. A plan clearly forming in her head.

Charles sighed, nodding. "It's an insult used for anybody from a non-magical family. My brother doesn't seem to understand basic respect," The last comment was spoken with a glare in Alexander's direction. Charles indicated the seat across from Juniper. "May I sit?"

Juniper offered a small smile at Charles before she stood and moved in front of Alex. "Don't ever call someone that again." She doesn't hesitate, pulling her hand back and slapping him as hard as she could. She nodded once then sat back in her seat. "Yeah, you can sit. I'm Juniper."

Charles scowled at her when she slapped his brother. "Don't touch him, first of all. Beside the point though. I'm Charles," His tone was still kind, but a bit annoyed. Alexander just glared at her, mostly unaffected. Alexander didn't say a word. "What house do you think you'll be put in?"

Juniper frowned. "He called me a mudblood before even knowing my name. I think he deserved a punch." She crossed her arms and gave a shrug. "I don't know. I'll be happy if it's not with you two weirdos." She turned her back to the pair, looking back out the window. God these guys were weird.
