Cass keeps her hair shaved along the sides, and longer at the middle - with her curls falling down to her eyebrows. It’s naturally black but she keeps the front part almost always dyed. Right now the colour of choice is a pinkish-red, changed from the bright blue it used to be. She spends a surprising amount of time maintaining it, ensuring it doesn’t turn into a frizzy mess. Cass has an average height and build, though she’s frequently dwarfed by the company she keeps (she has one friend that’s shorter than her). Her body is toned thanks to frequent workouts, fighting, and her general inability to stay still. The muscle she’s built up isn’t immediately obvious, meaning her strength often surprises people. Cass has a few tattoos. The most obvious is a large, greyscale rowan tree with red berries spanning her back, with vines coming off it curling up and around her shoulders. She also has a small snake in the centre of her chest. Cass has two lobe piercings, a helix and a septum piercing. Clothing wise, Cass tends to favour the punk aesthetic. Plaids, black with bright reds, purples, blues or greens cutting through it, artistically distressed fabric, loads of chains… But she will mix it up now and then, not being stuck to one look. Even within her preferred look she has a large variety of clothing, allowing her to vary day to day. Some days it's all baggy band t-shirts and wide legged pants with straps and chains, another it’s harnessed crop tops and pleated skirts. It really depends on how she feels on the day. One near constant is mess or fishnets incorporated into her outfit in some form. Cass’s makeup varies too. Most days she has simple eyeliner and lipgloss on - favouring bolder or darker reds. Born as the third child of five, and the only girl, Cass grew up in a poor part of Manchester, England. Her dad was a factory worker and her mum a part time cleaner. They didn’t have much money, but there was enough to put food on the table.
Cass’s childhood was spent running wild with her brothers. They’d play football on the streets, get into constant fights with each other and were just generally little hellions. But even though they were constantly fighting, Cass was close with them all. She fought the most with her oldest brother, Rowan, while also being closest to him.
From when she started school, Cass was always seen as ‘one of the boys.’ Most of her friends were guys, and she struggled to get on with girls. But as she got older, she started getting pressure to be more… girly. From ten she was suddenly expected to fill in for her mum when she was out. Cooking, cleaning- various household chores she was pressured to do while her brothers were allowed to go out to pay.
She was told to ‘act more like a girl’. Everything she did was judged the closer she got to puberty. So she started to change- getting quieter and hiding herself to appease her parents. Because the pressure was too much. As she went into senior school, she struggled to make friends. She was suppressing who she was, and didn’t fit in anywhere. For a while, even her brother’s started to exclude her from ‘boy’ activities because of their parents' pressure. Her only friend was Salvador, her childhood friend.
Thankfully, that stopped as Rowan started to see just how sad Cass was becoming. She still didn’t have the confidence to push back against their parents but at least with her brothers and Sal she could be herself. Slowly, she began to accept who she was too. She was loud, energetic, and sometimes violent - but that didn’t make her any less of a girl. But she was also allowed to like things like makeup. She could be herself. While it wasn’t perfect, she became more outgoing at school again - and started dating too. It was a balance between who she was and keeping up the illusion of who her mum wanted.
Just before Cass turned sixteen, World War Two was declared. A lot changed. Her older brothers were both drafted, and her younger brothers were evacuated to the countryside. At sixteen, Cass was expected to help. Growing food in the gardens, running the household so her mum could work full time in the factories helping produce aircraft for the war efforts. It was a time filled with fear and uncertainty as the city she grew up in was bombed.
In the midst of this all, Cass excelled in school. She was incredibly smart- but had often slacked when things were too easy or boring. As things started to actually excite her, primarily maths, sciences and computing, she started to actually put effort in. Even with the War there was a future to think about.
Then the worst happened. Rowan was killed in combat. Only a few months later her second oldest brother, Jack, was honorably discharged and returned home. He could no longer use his legs, leaving him disabled- his lower spine destroyed so much even his resulting kindling (unknown to Cass at the time) couldn’t save it. Now Cass was expected to help out even more as her mom struggled with the loss and suddenly having to look after Jack.
Cass was barely given the time to grieve. She did what she could to help, but there was even more pressure- pressure to give up her own future to stay at home and help. Resentment built and built, and she applied further afield for University… so when she got a scholarship to the University of Illinois, Chicago, she took it.
While her relationship with her family was fractured as a result, moving to America allowed Cass to really be her whole, unapologetic self. She stopped suppressing anything… including her annoyance when Sal followed her over. But it was fine. Amazing, even, as she made a solid group of friends, had plenty of flings and relationships, and properly discovered her love for computer programming. She’s also reconnected with her younger brothers since they left home too.
After graduation, Cass got a job in San Francisco. While it was incredibly high paying, allowing her to pay off the debts she’d got around her scholarship while saving and sending some back to her brothers, it got incredibly boring very quickly. But she suffered through it, because what else would she do? Get another equally boring job? She didn’t really know where she wanted to go from there.
So when an opportunity, and suggestion, came to quit it- she did. Now she’s moving to Portland to be closer to her friends (cough definitely just friends cough), but in reality she’s more likely to spend the majority of her time in St Portwell.

Animal Transformation ⫻ Cass’s primary spell discipline, and one she’s been working towards having more full or stronger transformations for. Cass is able to adopt animal features, transforming specific parts of her body or growing something new. She can layer these on top of each other.
Body Enhancement ⫻ Along with her animal forms, Cass has been working on more generic enhancement of her body with green lux. Sometimes she doesn’t want to grow scales to be more durable… and sometimes it’s just more efficient this way. The more magic she learns, the better!
Wolf Shifting ⫻ The animal Cass has gotten closest to full transformation of. Call her basic, but wolves are cool! She can grow a pair of wolf ears, which enhance her hearing (while being cute as fuck). She can elongate and sharpen her teeth while strengthening her jaw, specialising at ripping through flesh. She can grow her nails into claws like a wolf’s, which can be used to attack but also to help her climb. She can also grow a tail like a wolf’s - which helps with her balance, but not much else. She can grow each feature individually, or all at once. She’s working to improve this to push it further - aiming to adjust her legs to mimic a wolf’s more to allow for much stronger movement. She can grow fur all across her body, but rarely bothers - it’s only really useful if it’s super cold.
Hyena Bite ⫻ Imitating a hyena’s incredibly powerful bite, Cass grows her teeth while strengthening her jaw. Her teeth are more conical with this form, which are slightly less sharp than the wolves. She can bite down with a very high power, with teeth specialising in breaking bones - allowing her to easily break a non magically reinforced bone with a single bite. She’s planning to develop more features imitating Hyena’s, but is yet to manage any other’s.
Eagle Eyes ⫻ Cass changes her eyes to be like an eagles, turning them from their normal dark brown to a more amber-yellow colour. This allows her to see things from 20 feet / six metres away with ease. This also helps her keep track of things moving quickly, able to sharply focus in, with muscles in her eyes that will adjust the curvature of her eyeballs to allow this. However, she struggles to move her eyes to look around when they’re like this, requiring more head movement.
Cheetah Speed ⫻ With cheetah spots forming on her arms and legs, Cass’s speed is enhanced to supernatural levels. This improves her running speed, but also how fast her whole body moves, allowing her to get to places in the blink of an eye. This spell doesn’t last as long as her other ones.
Monkey Tail ⫻ Cass grows a monkey’s tail from the base of her back. This can act as a sort of fifth limb - she can pick larger objects up with it, and it's strong enough she could hang off something with it. It also helps with balance.
Lizard Scales ⫻ Cass covers a part of her body, or the majority of it, with tough scales made out of keratin. These are a dull green in colour generally, but Cass can change that if she wants to. They offer protection, but can also help her pack an extra punch if formed around her hands.
Bug Antenna ⫻ Cass can grow antenna like various insect’s out of her head. This allows her to sense things she wouldn’t otherwise- vibrations in the air, or pheromones. This includes magical pheromones.
