This is the year 3048, just before the Clan Invasion and during a time of relative prosperity for the Inner Sphere due to the Federated Commonwealth's consolidation and growth.
You are a rag-tag group of mercenaries, salvagers, honorable misfits, and unjustly exiled folk who all met on a barren planet by coincidence to pursue rumors of a vault of LosTech keyed to your genetics. You do not know what those genetics are, or what bloodline you carry that could unlock this hidden vault. Nevertheless, you have all gathered at its hatch, tired out, all armed and wary, and any treachery to each other would result in your deaths as easily as it could result in your victory. So you all, in sequence, give a little of your blood to the DNA-locked apparatus in front of the door. Then, an announcement is made that will change your lives forever.
"DNA matches that of House Cameron. You are all members of House Cameron. The Vault, and the Star League itself, are yours' by right."
That's the good news. The bad news, however, his that this vault is very, very close to the Taurian Concordat's territory, and the Concordat hates even the memory of the Star League. And there's a Concordat WarShip and a lance of MechWarriors with support from Tanks, Artillery, Jetpack Troops, and Aircraft headed your way.
