The slots ring-a-ding, pouring out the winnings to the patrons of Velour and Valor Casino. Giddy from free drinks and the promise of misfortune overturned. It was music to his ears. Giancarlo Valenciaga ran it all with a closed fist, as many a 'lucky' gambler knew all too well. Everyone knew the Valenciaga family held roots deep within the city of Reno. Authorities looked the other way, especially when the chief of police was rumored to have gotten quite the 'donation'.
Suffice to say, things ran relatively smoothly. People paid, sometimes walking out with more than they came in. And it there was a lucky son-of-a-gun who happened to be doing well, then they were given the VIP treatment.
And they were never heard from again.
Giancarlo sat in his office, counting stacks of cash on his desk like his life depended on it. His wife, sitting across from him on an IKEA couch, checked her freshly done nails. Winona Valenciaga enjoyed the finer things in life and Giancarlo loved to give her such luxuries. It was a match made in hell, if you really looked into it.
They had two children, the lights of their life (whenever they managed to be around them). They had a home there and another in Puerto Rico, which they went to occasionally whenever they needed to hide out a bit. Despite this, things were good. Great even.
Until now.
Hello and welcome to my interest check for my new crime roleplay. The story is a couple people from various walks of life, all torn down by society, all motivated in one way or another to stick it to those in power, come together to plan elaborate heists. Sometimes its for money, or power, or reputation. Whatever the motivations are they are here to ensure the greedy elite finally face consequences.
Heist Roles
- The Thief: Whether you grew up on the streets and had to steal to survive or you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth and steal for the thrill, you are good at taking things that do not belong to you. Are you a modern-day Robin Hood? Or do you keep your ill-gotten gains in hopes of one day settling down on some island country with a Mai Tai in your hands?
Potential Skills: Pickpocketing, Stealth, Blending In, Fencing, Underground Connections
- The Face: Every group needs someone who can sweet-talk and charm their way through any situation. They know just what to say, which buttons to push, and how to use their gifts to lower someone's guard to get what they want. Perhaps you use your skills to sneak into places you don't belong or ensure you always have a companion with you. Either way, your gold-tinged words are how you get what you want, societal rules be damned.
Potential Skills: Charm, Deceive, Intimidate, Persuade, Perception
- The Muscle: You know your way in a fight. Perhaps you grew up in a tough neighborhood and had to crack some skulls to get a point across or maybe you were a military brat who enjoyed combat a bit too much. Either way, you can handle yourself when something or someone needs to be reminded that words don't resolve all conflicts. You can stand up to the best of them and you aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
Potential Skills: Hand-to-Hand Combat, Strength, Boxing, Combat Reflexes, Self-Defense
- The Safecracker: No state-of-the-art safe can hold up to your skills. Perhaps you broke into your parents' liquor cabinet to make a sleepover even more fun, or you wound up needing to ensure a business's shady dealings weren't hidden in that handy wall safe. No lock hand hold up to your finesse.
Potential Skills: Lockpicking, Safecracking, Security Knowledge, Search, Tool Crafting
- The Hacker: The inner-workings of cybersecurity are like a second language to you. Put you in front of a keyboard and screen, and no system in the world can block you. Potential Skills: Hacking, Cybersecurity, Data Protection, Computer Systems, Darkweb Knowledge
- The Getaway Driver: You have a need for speed. Maybe at a young age, you enjoyed the thrill of rubber meeting road, or you've always had a desire to see an engine purr. You have vast knowledge of how cars run and how to navigate them on the most treacherous roads. Sometimes there's nothing greater than seeing the horizon pass in your rearview.
Potential Skills: Driving, Navigation, Car Repair, Engineering, Off-Road Driving
- The Former Law: You always wanted to help people. Perhaps you were a victim of a crime that went unresolved or you just had a need to see bad people face justice. You joined law enforcement to be that shining beacon people needed. But somewhere along the way, you lost it. Now you want it back, even if it means doing so unconventionally.
