The summer days are growing shorter and shorter. While all of wildlife begins to prepare for the state of hibernation and dormancy, and the chill of impending winter can be felt in the air...everyone prepares for celebration. It is now the ninth year--nearing the final year of this ten year cycle. Everyone knows what this means...
All of the people know that the Messiah and their friends will be traveling all around the world to reach the nine surrounding towers to claim the blessings. After all nine blessings are claimed, they can go to the Central Tower of Ai, and use the blessings to repair the broken world seal once again. "As decreed by the Gods, Rafaam!"
Everyone is abuzz with joyful energy, eager to hear who the Messiah, their new hero, will be! They tell stories of the heroics of their previous Messiahs and their friends, before they reach the towers. What the general public does not think about is the fact that the Messiah and their friends never return from their journeys to the Towers. Only those close to the departed are keenly aware of this, but they remain silent in fear of the Church's wrath.
Within a speakeasy hidden from public eyes, the critics of the Church gather along with other criminals, vagabonds, and ne'er-do-wells. There, a band of bards stand on the stage to perform the one song that the Church has deemed blasphemous. The creator of the song is unknown, but the song had already become pervasive before the Church silenced it with their Decree of Forbiddance.
There, the band sings the secret mourning and warning the song expresses...
There is no escaping the truth in this speakeasy: The Messiah and their friends will face terrible trials to come, both within and outside the Towers of Ai.
There are those who try to save the Messiah and the Friends from the Towers, but they are all fruitless attempts. They also face the possibility that by trying to stop the Messiah, they sentence the world and all of the inhabitants to death.
Will the cycle continue as it always has?
Can the Messiah and their friends find a way to break the cycle and save the world?
...Or will the world finally perish?

But yes! This game takes place in a home-brew world based off of the world within the song. As stated in the blurb, there are multiple Towers of Ai instead of one: 9 of them are holding a Blessing, while the Central one is the Final Tower of Ai that the Messiah has to go to last to officially complete the cycle.
Yes, this will be a slow-paced game, because RL > RP, and I do have a full time job.
While this is a Post-Apocalypse game, the atmosphere is most certainly not Grimdark. This game's atmosphere would more like Metaphor ReFantazio's atmosphere: A balance of light and dark. Theater of the Mind will be used.
I would say 4-6 players would be ideal for this game. One of the players will be the Messiah. However, the players do not choose who the Messiah will be. That will be left up to the dice.
We're going to start everyone at Level 1. That way, characters can be fully explored and will grow with the game's narrative.
Level Ups will occur after completing a Tower. But! This will not be the only way. If your backstory has hooks that can be pursued, Level Up Milestones can be found in the game.
Stats can be Point Buy of 27, or you can roll 4d6 and drop the lowest.
