As they say, better late than never :).

Application is good, and a dark contrast to everyone else, I must say, However, like Endrance, you are forgetting something.

Am I reading into this or is this game supposed to be a light hearted, mild comedy? I mean the other characters strike me as fairly serious and this last one done right dark. I have the impression it is supposed to be clever and witty but not an outright slapstick thing.

I was kinda going for "the straight man" for Anna, but Herr Duran blew her out of the water on the whole 'dark and serious' thing. Maybe I'll have to play her a bit more whacky, just to balance things out.

@Rultaos- Thanks for the heads-up, I must have misread that part of the 'magic' section of the OP. I think she'd still be sort of a fire specialist, though.

Name: Andred Karrion
Age: 25
Gender: Male

Affinity: Demonic Knight

Appearance (Normal):

Andred is of average height, with a muscular build and a devious grin. And, at times, a judgemental scowl. He keeps his long hair tied in a ponytail, while some of the shorter locks left in place give the impression that his hair isn't as long as it is. He tends to wear the latest finery popular among nobility when not wearing armor. Trusting no one, however, he does always carry a sword.

Personality: Proud. Vain. Intelligent, yet uncaring. Viscious, yet hedonistic. Andred is the epitome of the noble decadence. He is generally apathetic in matters which don't directly effect him. He has little sympathy for the weak or foolish. Like most other Lords son's he has a keen interest in the latest gossip about royals, nobles, priests, highranking knights and anyone of high birth. He is also an avid fan of good bards and a notorious critic of less skilled bards.

Biography: Being the second eldest son of the esteemed and powerful Lord Nareth Karrion was a spoiling experience. In his youth, he was a terrible brat with disturbing tendencies. His mother, Lady Elswin, had a suspicion that he was born to be a Demonic Knight. So, when he came of age, she hired one of the best, brightest and most beautiful to test and tutor him.

Andred spent his adolescence bathed in the sort of comfort and luxury which only that only noble blood can attain. When not training to become a "glorious warrior" under a renowned femme fatale, he was engaged in the social games of the elite classes. Though his older brother would inherit the lion's share of their father's holdings, Andred's dark gift for demonic magic was a strong consolation.

By the time he turned twenty, he had developed his skills evenly into three distinct directions: Swordplay, Sorcery and Seduction. And by these means did he come to learn the the dirty secrets of more than a few Zerandaran nobles. It's amazing what an imp can find out or a sister reveal with the proper motivation.

It was perfect. He was there to aid those who could aid him in gaining more power while being able to destroy those who would stand against him. At this rate, he might manipulate his way into more holdings within a decade than his brother could ever inherit.

Now at twentyfive with the patronage of his long time tutor, the Demonic Knight Talia Vinzai, he's been recruited into the Excalibur Guild of Zerandar and he's ready to make a name for himself as a Demonic Knight.

Arsenal:
- Ancient sword, rumored to be demonic in origin.
- Large Round Shield, black with an Eye of Zar motif
- Custom crafted black armor
- Emblem the Eye of Zar
- Vast wealth. Both in currency and in favors owed to him by very powerful people.
- The skull of his childhood pet Narwhal, Vetty.

Also, if accepted I have some ideas for Demonic Knight spells. If that's cool.

@Everyone: While the atmosphere of the RP is supposed to be light and funny, and doesn't mean that everyone is required to be wacky. There can be some serious people, but I'd like to keep that at a minimum. Besides, I haven't accepted RabidAnubis yet because he's forgetting something in his app.

@Supreme Vampiric Evil(SVE): Character is accepted :). Feel free to discuss any ideas you have for Demonic Magic. I'm still open to suggestions.

I remembered. Even though there wasn't anything but standard.:)

I don't think serious people make the RP not a comedy. It's really the interactions that matter.

If you're aware of the N-Word, then I guess I can accept you :). Like I said, there's nothing wrong with serious people every now and again, as long as they're not too common. I guess if this RP were Fairy Tail (which by the way, I draw some inspiration from), then your character would probably act as our Gajeel.

Some demonic spell ideas:

World of the Blind: The forces of darkness cover the victims eyes with shadow, making them unable to see what's going on around them and forcing them to rely on their other senses. This crippling effect lasts 1 minute for the first circle and thirty extra seconds for each additional circle. (Strangely, when cast upon those who are already deaf and dumb, this spell has been known to make it's victims skill in pinball drastically increase to inhuman proportions.)

Fear and Self Loathing: The victims mind becomes plauged by fear and self-doubt for approximately ten minutes. The amount of circles used determines the strength of the effect. 1 circle being a minor distraction that makes it slightly difficult to focus on attacks and defenses, while a full 6 circles can be completely paralyzing to even the most couragous and strong willed warriors.

Evil Dead: In which one turns a corpse into a temporary bridge which lesser demons can utilize to enter this world and inhabit the corpse. These entities are not as powerful as summoned demons. But they are hungry for souls and eager for battle. When they inhabit the body it becomes an undead berzerker. The demon doesn't care wether the undead host dies again, sometimes dismembered limbs keep fighting until the effect fades. 1 Circle will last for 5 Minutes. Each succeeding Circle adds an extra 3 Minutes.

Invocation of Heavy Metal: This spell causes an unholy racket of demonic music to sound throughout the surrounding area for anywhere from 2:59 to 13:02 minutes, depending on the length of the song. This enables the demonic knight (and any of their allies who happen to be ready to rock) to enter a mystical state of battle meditation known as "The Zone". While in The Zone all demonic knights/allies who rock receive a significant boost to their fighting ability depending on how loud the music is. More circles = louder. However, since Heavy Metal can only be played loud, this spell can only be cast with 3 or more circles.

I'm willing to accept "World of the Blind" and "Evil Dead". But for "Fear and self-loathing"... I don't think being able to control the emotions of others fall within the context of Demonic Magic.

As for "Invocation of Heavy Metal"... Rock and Roll doesn't really fit in (despite how wacko the world already is, and how badass that would be, it just doesn't in my view). I was thinking that we turn it into a Classical symphony instead. Watch Demonic Knights suddenly summon an Undead orchestra to play music that buffs up the summoner and their allies. They could play music like this. Plus, an Orchestra would fit better with your Nobleman character :)

I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks, though.

I could really use some material to go off of. If you folks don't mind sharing something you had in mind, that would be great. I can pick and choose some little things to play off of, but nothing juicy off the bat, Durun in particular. I don't see any jokes rolling around with him that are actually funny rather than just flat out inappropriate or degrading. Could use some ideas, Rabid.

What are you trying to make exactly? I can't help 'cause I'm not entirely sure what you're asking for XD

Okay, let me put it simply. Durun isn't funny. His history is cruel, his personality has no quirks that give me a position to make jokes with, and his abilities are serious. Everybody has that right now, but especially Durun. With most it is like "fun with the Washington Post," even so I can work with that. However, Durun is like trying to make light of genocide. I don't find doing that fun or funny or anything that should be fun or funny. I'm trying to understand what made you say "hmmm... a comedy, huh? I think I will make Hannibal Lector."

Right now it seems to me that you saw something remotely medieval and pulled out a character you have wanted to play for a while. I'm totally cool with that, by the way, I do it myself. And I am not gripeing about your character. I am trying to understand.

So the question I am trying to ask is "perfect situation rolls around for your character to make people laugh. What would it be?"

I guess only Rabid would really be able to help out there... I've given it some thought and even I'm having a bit of difficulty thinking of a funny situation for Durun

Perhaps if his character were tweaked a bit. Like, he has a fear of dogs or something? If he had flaws like that, I'm sure it would lead to some funny moments given his personality.

@Rultaos

I'm all for the undead orchestra thing. It sounds fun. And a lot of that was me trying to stretch my comedy writing muscles after coming up with a rather straightforward character design.

So no worries about the fear one. I just firgured I could come up with some appropriate dark powers since there were only 3 up there. I figured the demon summoning spell could be very versatile, so I tried to come up with stuff that would compliment it.

@Deserted

I'm going for sort of spoiled/unmotivated/callous rich brat more interested in wine, women & song than in stopping the threats upon the land. I was basically just following the flow of the stuff Rultaos put out the there in the opening post.

Honestly I don't really have any solid material planned out. Just vague thoughts. Wisecracking. Not doing things he should be doing. Doing things he shouldn't be.

Like, your CS makes me think of Monty Python stuff. With mine, I was trying to make a set up for more of a Hugh Laurie/Tucker Max/Anthony Jeselnik sort of line of situational stuff.

As far as Durun, I don't know. It looks like he was going for "ridiculously gruesome" with maybe a bit of Tim Burton or Roman Dirge influence. Maybe. That's just my guess.

@ Any/All

Anybody think I should do some work on my CS to make it less serious?

Feel free to add anything if you want. Right now, it's probably enough for him to be the witty, rich douchebag. Exact opposite of my character.

My character really isn't meant to be slapstick or straight up silly. I just have getting beat up one of his greatest abilities. He is going to be dripping with snarky comments and kind of lousy at a bunch of things, yet pulling through with uncouth solutions. He's supposed to be a disposable extra from a land of disposable extras in case you didn't read his history.

Good examples of Chance at his best...
-Negotiating with dragons rather than slaying them.
-Stealing skulls and arms of skeletons in crypts before they can become animet.
-Being hell-bent jealously vindictive against an NPC hero that outshines the party.
-Considering retiring from adventuring to farm gold.
-Purposly taking a sleeping drug delivered to the party because everybody else has succumbed to it.

Since everyone's putting up some quirks of their characters, I might as well join in :)

Karadar Trenact...
-Is a stickler for rules, and would rather follow orders than hunches. Even if the orders are borderline idiocy, he'll choose to follow it as long as it comes from a valid superior.
-Chooses the path of negotiation before resorting to combat. He will do so against any foe (Yes, even against a giant, carnivorous worm about to devour everyone)
-Believes that enemies will fight fair (Completely wrong a lot of times)
-Constantly makes sure his allies are in their A-Game. Emphasis on "constantly"
-Attributes all victories and miracles done by himself and allies, to the goddess Kyr. Much to the annoyance of the one who did it.
-Is completely oblivious to sexual innuendo (He has no clue what flirting is)... What did you expect? He was disciplined and indoctrinated during his teens!
-Despite the above statement, he knows how babies are made, and believes that if a Holy Knight like himself had that sort of desire towards a woman, it was a grave sin.

(More quirks ought to pop up during the course of the roleplay)

Added the new Demon Knight spells to the OP (Along with some tweaks and nerfs), for those of you who haven't noticed yet. Still open to any suggestions for Magic in case you guys have any (Blood Knight is looking pretty dry, along with Elementals)..

Also, should I also start the IC with the people we have now, or wait a bit longer?
