Phoebe hesitantly looked about the training camp. A few weeks ago, she had been approached by a curious individual who had given her files and things to look at and, Phoebe had been intrigued. She brushed back long black hair as she looked around, wondering how she would fit in here, a girl with a mutant power from birth.

She had said yes, she would join, because she wanted to make a difference, and here she was. She had had to learn behind pretty much everything, and had had no contact with her parents for a week. She found she didn't mind it. It was a new beginning

There were dorms, large training grounds, were you could train powers, other skills like fighting, sword play, dagger throwing, archery...so much. There was a large Mess Hall to eat in, a command centre, and an airfield. Phoebe wondered if she could learn how to pilot. That would be awesome, she thought.

She was assigned a room number, and she clutched the key to her chest, her duffle bag with her meager belongings in it in one hand. She started across the training grounds to the dorm rooms to put her stuff away, feeling slightly out of place.

Once she found her room, she noted it had two beds. Quickly claiming one, she unpacked her things in the chest at the foot of it, slipping a photo of her parents and herself under the pillow, unable to help herself this small, personal, childlike thing to do.

She was hungry, but didn't feel like being around people. So she went to the training grounds, examining all that was there. She doubted she would ever been good at anything there, but she could learn to fight hand to hand and do that well, she thought. Her abilities lay more in being able to control plants then anything else.

That was a pretty handy power. She could do anything from growing a piece of grass, to making pertrofied wood-good against fire for it didn't burn. She flinched as lightened flashed over the sky and thunder rumbled, but there didn't appear to be any sign of a storm.
