The battle was over, the war was over.

And yet Hermione's life remained unfinished and rather scattered.

During the battle at Hogwarts, several lives were lost. Classmates, strangers and even the adults who knew better. Ron was one of those fallen people who wouldn't be forgotten. Harry and Hermione remained in contact but having lost Ron for good, it felt empty when they were together. In the woods, as they stayed hidden, it was easy to carry on because Ron wasn't dead, he was just missing, somewhere else but still believed to be alive. And now that he was dead, things felt more final and more cold. Hermione didn't feel weak, as much as she felt tired. The constant looking over her shoulder, the sleepless nights, the spells which ricocheted backwards and forwards were meant to be a thing of the past. Yet, she still felt so cold and empty.

Her life wasn't over and she restored her parents' memories and Harry was safe and so was the world. So why couldn't she find comfort in what she had saved? Because Ron died. It was a risk the three mates were willing to take and yet a Deatheater killed Ron while they were navigating the castle, trying to find Harry after having left the Chamber of Secrets. She had to tell Harry what happened but they couldn't begin to mourn as they had things to do. Seven months had passed since that dark endless night and Hermione forced herself to move on. Or to at least appear as if she was. She worked at the Ministry of Magic in a new division that was going to restore the use of Time Turners, she would help oversee the use of the device but she first had to make it.

The supply had been destroyed and she had the only Time Turner left so it was only right that she become the pioneer to make it more fluid through time, whether you wanted to go forward or backward. Time was a delicate thing and she knew the dangers of it being misused. That didn't stop the bookworm from trying her hardest to make something work. Perhaps her personal investment was why she refused to sleep for more than three hours, or eat something every twelve hours but she was so close to finishing her project that she didn't want to be disturbed. Harry gave the Black House to Remus since he couldn't live in it without the past catching up to him. Hermione moved in four months ago and so far, she and ex-DADA Professor had managed to stay clear of one another.

Hermione was busy with her work and Remus was doing something else but the girl had yet to really ask him about it. He had lost Tonks and his unborn child so she understood the need to process things. She would move about the house on her own accord but would make an effort to be quiet and tidy, out of the way. As she set done of tools, she sat up straight and felt every muscle and bone in her body wail. She got up and pushed her chair in. Hermione had been hunched over her desk for far too long and her stomach was trying to alert her to its plight. She rubbed her eyes and headed downstairs to get something to eat. Tinkering with tiny wires and stuff was tiring and her invention would channel magic as well as science so it was hard to balance. Once in the kitchen, she conjured up some hot water in a mug and fixed herself some tea while she sorted out the contents of the fridge.

It was a bunch of chaos.

So much chaos, so much fun for the Doctor.

He had just dropped off a male companion who was from a faraway planet where everyone was left handed and walked backwards. It was quite fun at first but not when they had to make a quick getaway from an angry mob of aliens who were upset that they messed up some ceremony of importance. The Doctor was sad to see the fellow go but his companions came and went frequently. Saying goodbye was always difficult but it was better than seeing them die or get left behind. Saying goodbye was usually the best outcome he could hope for whenever he asked for someone to come along with him. Sometimes those he ran into asked to come along and sometimes he would agree if he saw that they'd be able to handle themselves.

But it was getting hard. He was getting old and he knew his fun wouldn't last forever. The Doctor didn't like to think about that or his past. For him, there was never a Time War and yet he still didn't have the guts to go back to Gallifrey. He stole a TARDIS and ran away and hadn't returned since. The Doctor had gone through many many regenerations and had experienced so much. The very thought of slowing down or going back to his home planet, was something he had yet to consider. There were so many people to meet, so many places to see. His sense of wonder would never diminish with each companion he lost and with each new face he was given. The Doctor could never stop running.

After he dropped his companion off, the Doctor went back into his lovely blue box and was keen to carry on and find a new adventure to have fun with. But as he was pulling a few levers and pressing some wooden buttons, the TARDIS became very fidgety. He tried to fix the problem but before he could kick the damn control, he was thrown back. The machine began to spin out of control and all the man with the spiffy bow-tie could do was hold on and wait for the girl to settle down. He felt a lot of bumps and he was sure the time in the vortex was longer than usual but he could assess anything until they landed somewhere. Anywhere was fine with him!

Suddenly there was a large crash and he got to his feet, hopeful that the ride was over. He saw his machine was slightly on fire, only slightly. "Not good." He said and grabbed an extinguisher and put it out. Looking over the control panel, he could tell there was some damage but he had no idea what had happened to cause such havoc. He couldn't use his computer at the moment so he had no idea where or when he was. He stepped out of the blue box and locked it behind him, just to be safe. He then saw he was in someone's yard. The Doctor didn't sense any danger and headed over to the front door. He gave it a few knocks and waited, adjusting his bow-tie a little. When a blond woman answered, he smiled. "Hello. I seemed to have accidentally crashed into your yard, my deepest apologies, I just want to assure you that everything is fine. Also, where am I? And um what year is this?" He asked, he could tell he was on Earth but the details were fuzzy.

The war was finally done with, peace was finally here.

So why was it that Remus could still hear the screams of those dying?

He hadn't had that bad of a childhood growing up. It had been a whole lot more peaceful than before Voldemort had grown into a real threat. Sure while he was at school Voldemort had been getting noticed but it wasn't until 1985 that it started to snowball out of control. But even then his life hadn't been easy. He had been cursed with lycanthropy when he was eight years old. And he had to hide it for fear of being lynched, because even back then werewolves were considered to be horrid creatures. Then he gained some friends who he had to lie to which killed him, but he hadn't wanted them to get hurt by him as he had no control over that other side of himself. They found out for the lot of them, besides Peter, had been more stubborn than a hippogriff.

They even made themselves into animagi so that his otherwise wouldn't hurt them during the times of the full moon. He sat in the library of the Black house, a gift from Harry for the poor boy couldn't bear to live in it and hadn't wanted it to go to waste neither. Remus was trying to distract his thoughts on the war, but it had only been seven months. He too had lost so much. His best friends. His wife and unborn child. He hadn't wanted to marry Tonks during the war. But she had been persistent for she had no idea if any of them would come out of this alive and so, he married her. And she had gotten pregnant. He sighs knowing he wouldn't be getting anything more done, having already wrote down plans for the kids he tutored, so figured he could get something to eat. If he had before looked ragged and sleep deprived because of the lycanthropy, he knew that it must have gotten worse as he couldn't sleep without jolting awake at the screams of the dying ringing in his unconscious state. He paused in the hallway before the kitchen, easily picking up the scent of the other occupant who lived here for four months. Hermione Granger, the smartest witch of this century was making something if the information from his sense of smell wasn't leading him astray. To say that they have been walking on egg shells around the other would be like saying that oil and water didn't mix. Blatantly obvious. As his friends had once said, 'He's not one for much conversation. But get him started on OWLS and he never shuts up.' He smiles at one of the better memories he had.
Rose Tyler rubs her eyes as she heads toward the door of the flat she rented, thinking back on how she had gotten to this universe and how she had lucked out. It had been a normal morning at Pete's World, well as normal as one could get especially with her mother harping at her to get someone else, anyone else. Jonathan Noble, as the meta crises of her Doctor had called himself, and her had broken up a few months after trying to get the relationship to work between them. She did love him, but it had been like her loving Jack, like a brother and she couldn't forget her Doctor.

It had been a mutual thing and there were no hard feelings between the two of them. In fact he had given her a bigger on the inside bag, which she carried her clothes, a scrap book, some jewelry (some of which she had sold in order to get some money), some make up, and toiletries. She had been walking around aimlessly in Pete's World, the bag on her shoulders when she heard it. A voice. Wolf, we need you. Help us. And she was assaulted with a bright golden light, before she covered her eyes. She came to this world instantly knowing she was no longer on Pete's World. She had said good bye to her mum that morning, and Jackie had always known that she was going to leave for good one day, which is why Jackie had made the scrap book to begin with. She had gotten the flat having seen that it was for rent glad that the guy, Greg had been so lineant with her not immediately having the money. She then began to notice that something was going on, an industry called 'Andipose Industry' had been making this diet pill with the catchphrase: "The fat simply walks away" and something rose a red flag to her. And traveling with the Doctor, she knew to trust her instincts on these things.

She had heard the huge crash wary of what it could be that would mae such a loud sound. She opens the door seeing a man with a tweed shirt and a bow tie. And then he began to talk. "Hello. I seemed to have accidentally crashed into your yard, my deepest apologies, I just want to assure you that everything is fine. Also, where am I? And um what year is this?" She blinks at him before looking to the left and froze a look of surprised wonder on her face. "London, England Earth, April tenth, 2014." She answered automatically as the fact that she saw a blue police call box still making her feeling all sorts of things too quickly for her to pinpoint what they were. She then moves her eyes to study this man.

He had floppy brown hair, and spearmint green eyes and she smiles slightly at seeing his chin. She could almost hear her first Doctor complaining about it as a sheen of tears came to her eyes. "Is tha' really you?" She asks almost fearfull for after all her Doctor had left her twice. She didn't count his...twin for he had been his own person despite the same memories and what not.

Hermione found some chicken breasts and decided to season and cook them up, maybe add some cheese and pasta and make some sort of Italian chicken parmesan of some sort. She took hold of her tea as she found most of the things she was looking for. She could easily pop out to the store and get some more groceries but she really didn't feel like going out into the world and making idle conversation with strangers at the check-out line. She looked up when she thought she heard someone. Of course it wouldn't be someone, it would be Remus. While she was a great student of his in the past, and while she had deduced that he was a werewolf, they were still on odd terms.

The girl was no longer a kid anymore, war changed everyone and everything. And yet, the two hadn't really had any formal conversations. Not about the boring bleak weather or anything else like that. They couldn't avoid each other forever. She stepped back over to the oven as she put some chicken which she had seasoned, in a frying pan. She could easily tend to the pasta at the last minute with magic to get the water boiling. The sauce on the other hand, was her next objective. "I'm making extra, if you're hungry." Hermione called out. There was little point in trying to make less for herself. Remus needed to eat as much as she did, after all.

- - -

The woman was quick to give him useful information, before he was about to head off and do some exploring of his own, the girl stopped him. There was something odd about her but he couldn't really figure out what. In his mind, he could just be thrown off by the spontaneous crash. The girl could be no trouble at all. Then again, he was the Doctor and trouble and him went hand in hand. "Me?" The Doctor asked, not sure if he had met her before. It was possible. He had met children in their youths but being a time traveler, the way he met people was sometimes difficult. He sometimes met people before they met him. It was very complicated but still very fun. "Well I know I'm me. But I'm not sure I know who you are." He said to her.

"So you know I'm the Doctor...have we met before?" He asked her. "I'm sorry, sometimes I meet people in other forms or during other events." He told her. It was good to know he had a potential friend, it was much better than finding out he had enemies. Of course, he had plenty of those. But while his ship recuperated, he would need to find something to do, someone to help. For now the only lead he had was the young blond woman. She didn't look familiar to him but he couldn't deny that he felt something different about her. She was human, no doubt there. So what was it? The Doctor wasn't sure but he often enjoyed tackling mysteries. This one could content him until he could travel again.

Remus couldn't exactly remember when Hermione had said she would stay there, but was glad for it. It made the big and empty house feel a whole lot less empty. And she worried about him, and he echoed the feelings. She had lost about as much as he had, her boyfriend Ronald Weasley. The golden trio, the trouble makers. His head turned to the direction of where her voice came from, a small smile on his warn and scarred face. The scars from a hippogriff from when he had gotten too out of control of his other side. She had been remarkably brave to call his attention like that when he was nothing but instinct.

"Thank you Hermione." He said thankfully having been reminded during the first couple of weeks to call her thus, for she didn't stand on much protocol. Still did call him 'professor' from time to time though, but he found he liked it. Made him think of simpler times when he found the Marauders map again after so many years of not having it. He noticed that she was reaching for things that were no longer there. It made him realize they were running out of things. Perhaps he'll go, during the weekend and write the things they needed.
Rose hesitantly moves a little closer to him carefully looking into his eyes, studying him a bit closer. Sure it may be The Doctor but he might not be her Doctor. So she had to be certain. There was a huge bout of loneliness and guilt carried into the eyes of her Doctor, for he had been the survivor of the Time War. He had said very little about it when she traveled with him, but she hadn't pressed for many answers neither, knowing it was a horrible subject to talk about so had dropped it the second time they talked about it not wanting to cause him distress.

There was none of that in this Doctor's eyes. They were lighter, almost without the weight of her Doctor's pain and misery and smiles sadly wiping at her eyes. "No, no we haven't. But I do know A Doctor." She answered, and thought about telling him the whole: 'I came from a different universe, but actually I was born in yet another universe, traveled with a different you for two years, experienced your regenerating, was left behind twice in that different universe, and somehow got here in a bright gold light' explanation. He was a Time Lord after all. "'M Rose. Rose Tyler." She introduced herself. "It's nice to meet you." She said honestly, for a Doctor without the weight of being the last of his kind had to be a whole different experience. She noticed that the TARDIS was smoking wondering what happened to the Old Girl who had been like a second home to her. "Is it supposed to do tha'?" Rose asks tentatively not sure what she was supposed to and not supposed to say. She snorts softly, now she knew what it meant to have certain knowledge but not knowing how to utilize or give.

Eventually, she ended up finishing dinner. She set a plate on the counter for Remus, as she wasn't sure if he'd be retreating to the library or his bedroom. She glanced down at her own matching plate. It looked like a hearty meal, which was quite a comfort. She wanted to visit her parents again soon but she didn't have the emotional energy to do so. Hopefully when her massive project was finished, she'd have more of a sense to seek out those who she hadn't seen in ages. Hermione was growing a bit restless. "Well I hope it tastes alright." She muttered, partly to herself and partly to Remus, unsure if he was still around. The girl waved her wand and used a quick clean-up spell and grabbed her plate, deciding to go back to work. The sooner it was finished, the better. Right?

- - -

The Doctor was interested to hear more about the girl who seemed to slip through many dimensions. It was interesting of course. When the woman finally introduced herself, he gave her a bright smile. "Hello, I'm the Doctor. It's great to meet you, Rose Tyler." He said formally and looked around. "Oh? No, not really." He replied when Rose asked about the TARDIS. "She may need to do some regenerating of her own." He considered. "Which could take a while, if not, she just needs to cool down. I don't know what happened or why I crashed here but she must be hurting..." He considered and pouted thoughtfully, almost the way his previous self had done when thinking. "Since I've got some time to kill, is there anything around here interesting?" He asked her, not really a fan of just standing around doing nothing. There was always something to do or see.

When Rose heard the TARDIS beautiful Old Girl that she was, was hurting she got close to the blue police call box and caressed the wood. "Poor dear, wha' did he do this time?" It had been an automatic question cause whenever she was smoking like this, he was at fault. She noticed that this Doctor seemed to pout when thinking and smiles in remembrance thinking that this wouldn't be so different. She would have to keep it straight that this Doctor wasn't hers, not really, and was just another version who couldn't stand to be still, much like he hadn't either. "There is something goin' on with this company called Andipose Industries. They have this sayin': The fat just walks away and tha' is raising some mauve flags." Red is just you lot with all your dancing and what-not. Nah, muave is the color of danger Rose Tyler. The voice of her first doctor with his Northern burr said in her head. It seemed that no matter what Doctor she met, they said her first and last name like it was some sort of prayer or something to worship. She had always enjoyed hearing it but never understood why he would do that. She gave the faithful sentient time and space machine one last fond caress before standing once more by the Time Lord a tongue-touched smile on her lips, a special one, one she thought she'd never give again as it was slightly flirty and asked, "Want to check it out?" Cause she certainly was.
- - -
Remus startled out of his musings, jumped a bit still standing outside the kitchen unaware that time had slipped him by while standing by the many scents of food cooking and the woman who shared the house with him. "I'm sure it would taste better than anything I'd come up with." He said softly with a wry smile. He was a pretty good cook but that had grown out of necessity after the first couple of months on his own. He followed the progress that the young grown up witch made his head tilted a bit to the right a little wolfishly. Since he no longer had to hide himself from his former student he made his otherside's ticks while in this body come out every time he wasn't thinking about appearing normal. "You seem out of sorts. I may no longer be your teacher but I do hope you can still come to me if you need assistance." He informs her knowing he might be taking a big risk in sticking his nose where it wasn't appreciated. Muggle sayings, they were quite quaint, since they made sense if one took an outside look to them.

Before she could get back to her room and fuel her tired body, Remus spoke up. Hermione looked to him and forced a bit of a smile. His offer was kind but she didn't think it would be right to take him up on it. She knew he had his own burdens to bear. She wasn't sure if they'd be able to talk without filling the space around them with stress. Still, it was an offer and his generosity wasn't something she wanted to insult. After all, living in a place, out of the way, had been helpful in terms of her making progress with her invention. "Thanks." She told him. "I know you mean well but I'm alright, really." She told him. "I'm more worried about you." She said. "If you're not getting enough sleep, I could make a potion for you..." She started to offer, still holding her plate. It did smell good.

- - -

"Hey, this isn't my fault." The Doctor protested and waved a hand at the TARDIS as Rose moved to check it out more closely. "She's lost her bloody mind is all, she'll be alright in a bit I'm sure." He shrugged and looked to Rose when she mentioned that there was something odd going on. A promising drug to help people lose weight? Humans were unnecessarily vain. He figured whoever was behind the company was taking advantage of the faults in humans and their desire to look a certain way. His thoughts were interrupted when Rose gave him an intriguing smile and asked if they should check it out. "Of course!" He agreed and threw up his hands. Surely they could pose as investors or something. "You got a car or are we walking there?" it had been ages since he'd been in a car.

Remus looked at Hermione and thought that she was only saying that to put his worries to rest, not that they worked all that much really even if it was a nice thought, and thought about her offer to make him a potion to help him sleep if he wasn't getting enough of it. In fact, he wasn't. He barely closed his eyes before the nightmares plagued his mind. He pulled a hand through his already messy sandy brown hair a wry smile on his scarred face. "That actually might be helpful." He said having taken long enough to settle the pro's and con's of the decision as he took the other plate she had made, and began to eat it, unable to fight the delicious smell any more, remembering at almost the last second to actually use utensils. He grabbed them out of the drawer, knowing he could have used magic to get them to him, but he hadn't felt like it. Using magic was alright as long as streams of green didn't appear. He'd sink back into the barely climbed up hole he had managed to get somewhat out of.
- - -
Rose playfully rolled her eyes as he protested that he had no fault in what the TARDIS was doing. "I'm sure that you think so, but 'm sure that she'd disagree." She said grinning. "And don't say that in front of her, she'll not open her doors for you if you're rude to her." She points out having been in a situation like that more than a few times, and it almost cost both her and her Doctor their lives before the TARDIS had cooled down from her temper to let them in but refused to go anywhere the Doctor had wanted to go for at least three trips. And that was a long time for the TARDIS to be in a huff. Rose bit a nail nervously and decided to go with a bit of the truth. "I haven't been in London long enough to get a car yet." It's only been three weeks after all since she had appeared here in a burst of golden light and decided to first things first, look for somewhere to rent to live. That and she had to be sure that she hadn't existed in this universe neither. It was weird that the two different universes that she had gone to, there was no record of a Rose Tyler anywhere. Sure Jackie and Pete had existed, but they had died in the car accident that had killed her father in her original universe. Only they had been together and hadn't had kids yet. "And 'sides, it isn't that far, just a few blocks, a left and a right, and there's the facility." Either that or she was too used to movement to really be really affected much by the distance. After all, getting used to running had been a whole lot harder than walking here and there and back again getting acquainted with this London. It was almost very similar to her own, but there was just something....off. Didn't know what of course, but it hadn't felt like home until the blue box had crashed into the yard of the house she lived in.

When Remus agreed to let her make something for his insomnia, she brightened up. That would be something to do, to take her mind off all the stress she had bottle up inside. Of course, she would do a great job with the potion, it wasn't like she would be distracted or careless like that. "Great, wonderful. I can pick up the ingredients tomorrow and have something to you by tomorrow night." Hermione told him. It might not be a bad idea to save a little extra for herself. With that, she headed back up to her room to eat and do a bit more fiddling with her Time Turner. An hour later, she headed down to the kitchen and cleaned up her plate. Then she headed back up to her room and charmed herself into a light sleep. When morning came, the girl got dressed and headed outside. It felt like ages since she had seen daylight and had to deal with the crowds of people in Diagon Alley.

- - -

"Alright." The Doctor replied when she mentioned that it wasn't too far. That was fine with him, he wasn't too picky. He was happy to poke around and stretch his legs, for once it wouldn't involve running. They headed off, following the route which Rose had described. When they got there, he waited outside. He pulled out his good old sonic screwdriver and tried to scan the area. Nothing stood out though that might changed if he tried to scan once inside or closer to something that stuck out to him. He slipped it back in the inner pocket of his blazer and looked to Rose. "Guess we just walk in, say we're interested investors. If we're from the press, they might limit us, if we're investors, they could be more open to showing us around." He said as he headed inside and walked up to the front desk, flashing his psychic paper. "Hello there, we're hoping to have a tour, talk to someone." He smiled.

It had been a while since Remus had seen Hermione brighten up, and his acceptance of her help did that and seemed to brighten up the space. During the hour that Hermione was working on the Time Turner for the ministry, as they wanted her to work on it seeing as she had the most experience with it. He didn't get much sleep until about one in the morning and woke up thirty minutes later once more because of nightmares. Knowing by now he wouldn't get back to sleep, he worked on straightening out his work space, and even the house before light footsteps left the house, signifying Hermione's trip to Diagon Alley.
- - -
Rose saw the Doctor take out his sonic screwdriver, it looking different than the one she was used to seeing. That one had been sleek and had a blue tip. This one was a bit more bulky with a green tip and claws. New new Doctor, Rose. she heard her last Doctor say with that manic grin of his. The worker at the desk looked at the paper and smiles brightly having been expecting to see investors sometime today.
"Of course! Right this way. Its a privilege to help you two out Doctor and Mrs. Tyler." The female said brightly and Rose had to bite off the laughter that wanted to come out. Once again someone thought that she and the Doctor were married. It happened so often in her two year travel with her Doctor that it no longer fazed her and figured to let people think what they may cause that was the path of least resistance. And besides she didn't want to protest too much. "I think she doth protest too much." She had read Shakespeare while at Pete's World when she had been trapped there the first time, wanting to impress her Doctor with it cause he was such a big fan. She wondered idly if he did wind up meeting the genus. Wouldn't surprise her. After all, they had met Charles Dickens.

Going back to Diagon Alley brought back memories of school, of touring with her parents and running into Harry and Ron. Those simple times felt so far away, almost as if they had never even happened. She was quick to navigate the busy streets. It seemed people were happy and many businesses were beginning to prosper once again, having a new era replace the dark one that Lord Voldemort had cast over the world. Hermione was a bit uneasy around the massive crowds but after a while, she grew used to the chatter and constant body contact. Two hours after shopping around, the woman had finally gotten everything on her list and was heading back to Grimmauld Place. It was lunchtime but she didn't think to pick anything up, she did get some wizard snacks but that was about it. "Remus?" She called out, unsure if he was off working or sleeping.

- - -

The Doctor looked to Rose when the receptionist assumed they were married. Odd but he didn't correct it, not really feeling the need to. It wasn't that important of a misconception. When Rose made a Shakespearean comment, he grinned. Before he could make much of a response, the woman began the tour. She showed them the area where all the cubicals were, where everyone worked to phone around the area to get money and market their product. Then they were taken up another floor to look around to see some of the before and after shots of people who had supposed used the product. The Doctor was polite and nodded, pretending to be engaged. Well he was, but his mind was already moving quickly, trying to figure out what could be so wrong with the company. "What sort of ingredients go into your product?" He asked as they went back to the elevator. "Tested and approved, I assume?"

A loud cluttering noise in the kitchen sounded of a glass cup shattering and something heavy landing on the ground of Grimwald Place as Remus startled awake at the noise his wand in his hand in very little time, his eyes open but still signifying that he wasn't completely awake yet, it took a while before the cloudiness in his hazel eyes cleared and he looked at Hermione a small smile on his lips. "Sorry." He says not at all knowing how else to react to what he would have done had his sense of smell hadn't immediately alerted him that it was a friend who had said his name. Not foe. He had earlier that morning after straightening up, used his time to go pick up some things from the muggle world that they had been low on. He hadn't had much else to do that day before evening came and he had been exhausted from the lack of sleep so had called it an early day after placing the things in the correct places of where they had needed to go before drifting to sleep right there in the kitchen. He clears his throat seeing that she had the correct ingredients needed for the drought she would be making. He was about to open his mouth and remind her of a specific detail of the potion but wisely kept it shut. She was an intelligent female woman. The smartest witch this century. Surely she knew not to mix the blobs of Flobberworm Mucus before the Valerian sprigs, but after.

Rose had been handed one of the golden necklaces at the cubicles and looked at it curiously weighting it imperceptibly in her hand a slight thoughtful look in her eye. She knew what gold felt like thanks to Pete, the other universe's version of her dad who became her dad in all but blood, who was rich because his inventions had worked. And this felt...for lack of a better word: empty yet still feeling as if something besides pure gold was in there coming back to the conversation at hand.
"Yes, all done and approved by the board members. And its just your basic weight loss ingredients of açai and green tea extract." The woman says a tad bit too quickly and Rose slightly smiles. She may not have had extensive military training as her dad had wanted her to do, as she wouldn't become a soldier, she had learned some tricks to pick up when another is lying. She hadn't wanted to become a soldier once more because of her Doctor. He would have applauded her for learning how to help and heal as best she could and didn't use violence until it was strictly necessary. She looked at the names of those that used the product having had time to question the third to last name curious about this Industry. For some reason even before this, it was ringing a familiar bell to her. Had no idea why at the moment but knew that it would come to her if she didn't focus on that.

Upon hearing some noise, she wasn't sure if someone else was in the house. If they had broken in or what. It would unlikely but not utterly impossible. Hermione stepped along though the hallway until she reached the kitchen, the source of the clatter. "Are you alright?" She questioned. It seemed like he was about to say something but stopped himself. She remained outside in the hallway, looking in. "Well I'm going to get to work now, I should be done in about an hour or so." She said. It was a simple potion, yes, but the female wanted to double check her work. It would be beneficial to them both so making it perfect was a dire condition. Of course she didn't doubt her skills or Lupin's trust in her but she was a perfectionist at heart and wouldn't take the task lightly. With that, she continued and headed up the stairs to her room.

Looking to Rose and then back to the woman, the Doctor put on an energetic grin. "Great." He nodded. Of course he already had some suspicions but at the moment, they couldn't poke around too much and blow their cover. Their next move was to do more investigations, see if they could find actual fault with the product itself. They would need proof of course. They were given a list of the names of people who had just signed up for the product. They were told they could contact them if they needed to. Other than that, it seemed the tour was over. "Thank you for your time, we'll be in contact soon to discuss signing a deal together." The Doctor said and motioned for Rose to come along with him. They could pay one of these people a visit and do a bit of digging.

"I'm fine now, thank you." Remus answered putting away the wand after charming away the scattered remains of the broken glass, answering Hermione's question before she went to the stairs to go work on the potion she had offered to make for his insomnia. He smiles a soft true one, a rare sight to see on the scarred and battle wary lupine man as she went up to work. "The brightest witch this century." He murmurs remembering the complement he had given her during her third year of schooling. He had meant it then, it still applied now, especially since she grew into her own. If he was being honest, and he did like that trait, she had been one of his favorite students to teach. She shared in his enjoyment of learning that he hadn't thought anyone else could have. It was refreshing to see one young still being that intelligent.

Rose walked along with the Doctor and waited until it seemed they were out of earshot of the employee. "Did ya smell cotton burning too or was that just me?" She teases slightly grinning with amusement having a whole lot more fun than she ever thought she would in this other universe. Truth to tell, she didn't think she'd really truthfully be herself like this again since her Doctor had left her behind twice. Sure she put on a happy face for her mum, dad, brother and John, but it was just that: a front she put up in order for them not to worry about her. She had after all spent many many many months doing her damnedest to reach her Doctor to warn him about the stars going out. Add to the fact that he took away her choice of going with him by just disappearing, but she would never blame him for that. It gave her a chance to attempt a regular relationship. But John had fallen for that parallel universe's Sarah Jane as she was a tad bit younger here than her original one. She liked that Sarah as much as she had liked the one she had met, and hadn't minded when they both agreed that their relationship was not working. "So, which one did you want to talk with first. I met up with this one, and she says that she lost four stone in a few days. I did suggest she cut back in case it got worse cause it seemed to me to be a bit excessive amount of loss." She informs him so that they wouldn't waste time. She put the not-so-gold necklace on, figuring that sooner or later, they'd need it, so put it somewhere she'd remember.

She had heard his quick response and she hoped to help carry that through the day. It was rare for them to have a good day it seemed. Hermione went to work. She set up her area and made sure she had everything she needed, tools as well as ingredients. The witch began to process of making the potion. Even though she made the Polyjuice Potion in her second year, she was still nervous. She was in someone's home, outside of school. It was different, even if much simpler. Two hours passed and she had bottled up several vials which would help them get a good night's rest. She headed down and wondered what they could do about supper. "I'm done!" She called out, rubbing her eyes as she wandered into the library, having just made herself a hot cup of tea.

"That is a bit excessive, a bit alarming if you ask me." He hummed thoughtfully and looked around. For now, they had the good fortune of being undetected. For now, whoever was behind this oddity, didn't feel threatened which meant he and Rose could do some more meddling. It also meant that the big corporates could think they were okay and in doing so, could make a mistake while under the assumption that no one was watching them. He looked to Rose as she slipped on the necklace. "Be careful, though it does bring out the sparkle in your eyes." He smiled to her. "I think we'll pay this Jennifer Williams a visit, someone different perhaps then the one you saw? Might be better for them not to worry if they see us as a concern." He considered as they headed outside with the information now at their disposal.

Remus heard her saying she was finished with the potion, sitting in the library rereading one of his favorite tales in the library. Most of the books in here he had read more than once, others he just couldn't or wouldn't touch for the Black family had...peculiar tastes. Especially as tons of them had been Slytherin until Sirius had been placed in Griffendor. He looked as Hermione walked in. "Good job on getting it finished." He said looking out the door as an automatic thing to measure how much time had passed. Less than an hour and a half. Really? He hadn't gotten this lost in a story in a long time as often his head strayed to the screams and the dead of the war. It couldn't be helped. He supposed he was going through Survivors Guilt or something of the sort.

Rose grins at The Doctor accepting the complement. Either this body was a bit more easy in giving them or he was just one that blurted his thoughts either was nice.
You look nice. For a human that is. The Northern burr said in her head making her subtly roll her eyes fondly. She did miss him still and always would in a way but she had gotten used to her new Doctor and fell for him as she had the one in leather and the attitude. "Tha' is a good plan. I think we should say that we're a satisfaction survey. People are more willing to let strangers in that way." She said speaking from experience. As long as they didn't do anything suspicious worthy no one would question them.

It didn't surprise Hermione much to find Lupin in the library. Her guess had been a good one, though she would enjoy spending time in there as well, so she didn't blame him for seeking refuge in the pages, be them fiction or fact. "To be honest, it was quite relaxing to do something different for a change, like potion making." Hermione said. "Did you want some tea?" She asked him, having not been sure if she should have made him a cup or not. "Oh here." She then handed him two small thin vials of the finished product. "You can take half before bed and after four days, you should begin to develop a better sleeping habit." She explained to him. Of course she felt a little silly giving him instructions, she was sure she didn't have to.

The Doctor nodded, that was along the same lines of his own thinking. He had a bow tie on, they were quite cool and in his mind, gave him more of an official presence. For a moment he wondered what Rose might look like with one but he didn't think she'd want one so he quickly moved on. "Good." He agreed. "Yes, very good." The lanky man then took another look at the address and found that it was only a few blocks away, in an apartment in the city. Lucky then. While he wanted to ask Rose a bit more about what she knew about him, they had already arrived at the complex. "Second floor, apartment 208." He said as he began to walk up the stairs, figuring the elevator would take too long and he wanted to stretch his legs a bit more.

Remus smiles a bit in amusement in her telling him instructions. "Perhaps one day you will teach the newest generation of bright minds. You'd be quite good at it with a little practice." He said quite serious. He never would have dreamed to be a teacher at the place he had called his home for most of his life. To get the job had been a blessing. He of course had to hide his lycanthropy but, he didn't mind as much as he had as a young lad and had kept those that weren't supposed to know, out of the loop until the night of the full moon hit without his taking the medicine that helped control that basic side of him. That hadn't been wise, but he had been busy seeing a friend he hadn't seen in twelve years. "Thank you." He said taking the viles, putting the instructions to a side of his mind to access later thinking about her offer. "Perhaps not, but I could go for some water, but don't trouble yourself with that." He said for he was getting quite parched and some water would do him good to have. He got up from the chair he had been sitting in stretching out muscles that haven't been used in an hour or so.

Rose tilts her head studying this new Doctor. Although she didn't know this one, her Doctor, she could usually read pretty well. "Ya know, if you have questions all ya have to do is ask 'em. I'd answer as honestly as I can. It migh' get a touch confusin' though." She warned him making sure that he knew he could ask her any question and she would answer them to the best of her ability. She walked up the stairs after The Doctor enjoying the stretching out of her legs that she hasn't been doing much since her arrival here. It was good exercise. He did look very Oxford Professor chic, this him. Rocking the tweed jacket and even the bow tie. She gazed into space as the memory of her first time in Pete's World played behind her eyes.
"Ugh, bow ties. So constricting." Her second Doctor with the great hair and brown puppy dog eyes did his best to fix it around his neck, but she soon took over straightening the bow tie with the tongue touched smile of hers.
"I think bow ties are cool." She assured him.
Although she couldn't have said why she had said that, beyond a very faint memory from when she was still in high school about to take her A-levels before Jimmy Stone and had been worried about a homework subject she was having trouble with. She shook her head as they arrived at the door and she put a smile on her lips which the good memory had brought and knocks on the door. "Hullo. Is Jennifer Williams home? I'm Rose Tyler and this is my partner Doctor Smith, we work for Adipose Industries and would like to conduct a satisfaction survey if tha's alright." She said kindly and politely as the door opened. Being a Vitex heiress taught her one a many skill she hadn't thought she would ever need. Thank goodness she was proven wrong.

Teaching had been in the back of her mind, though she wasn't sure if she'd be able to look at children in the same fond way, after losing so many people, it would be hard to move past all the destruction. But that didn't mean she couldn't try to mold the future somehow. "Maybe." Hermione shrugged a little, at his comment about teaching. "You're welcome." She added when he thanked her. It wasn't much trouble. The distraction was actually rather welcomed. "Oh alright." She nodded when Remus mentioned he could do with some water but that he could get it himself. She presumed he had been sitting for a while and that some stretching would do him some good. "You know, getting out of the house was really nice, I might venture out for dinner." She said, feeling a bit adventurous. "You care to join me or do you have work?"

- - -

Even though Rose had mentioned that he could ask her and she'd answer honestly, he wasn't too sure if he wanted to tackle that can of worms, so to speak, just yet. He didn't doubt her credibility. He got the familiar feeling from her. The Doctor couldn't put his finger on it exactly but he could tell she could be trusted. She was pretty and while he wished he could remember what she did, he wasn't necessarily deterred by the gap between them. So far, things were going alright. A brunette woman had opened the door and listened to Rose's introduction. The woman, Jennifer, let them in and began to talk about how the weight loss had been astonishing. "Glad to hear it." The Doctor smiled to her and shook her hand. "We just have a few questions and we'll be on our way." He assured the woman, trying to spot anything out of the ordinary. Maybe they needed to do some more poking around.

Rose knew that sooner or later, he'd want to poke about. It's what he did, making things better, The Doctor, no matter which universe he happened to be in. He had to fix whatever was wrong. It just was his thing. "Is it the same amount lost every time?" She asked curiously studying the flat. She may not have had military training per say, but she could count and utilize pretty much five exits if absolutely needed and noticed the cat flap, like one she used to have at the Powell Estate in her original universe. She shook her head lightly rubbing her temples. It didn't do much to think of those times. It gave her a bit of a headache truth to tell. Honestly if she hadn't lived it, she would have thought it all bonkers. But she absolutely adored doing this. Figuring what was wrong and getting to the bottom of it. And if by the end of it they ran for their lives, all the better. She missed the frantic running for her life once Jonathan started to do the domestics...horribly at first. They still ran but not frantically for their lives like they used to. And there she went again. She fought off a sigh still keeping her pleasant smile.
"Oh yes. Four stone every evening, I wake up and I weigh myself."
"Wake up?"
"Yes, I thought I heard something opening one day, so I installed this security system. It rings every morning at four on the dot. Figure, might as well since I'm awake."

Remus stood up and stumbled as he caught the book he was placing back on the bookshelf thinking about her offer to go out and stretch his legs. It was late enough that the muggles would either be at home themselves or going to dinner much like Hermione had said. "No, I don't have work to do." He answered honestly after a moments pause. The fact that she would consider his advice on teaching was fair enough, as she had seen just as much death and destruction as he had, and probably wouldn't be able to do so for quite some time. But he was used to dark times, and had gone back to teaching as a fall back when the depression of both his wife and his son's deaths got too bad to be left alone so had offered his services to the ministry and got a few private students to tutor and that helped him solidify. The comforting smell of the books and ink furthered his comfort letting the suddenness of the question ease away. And stretching his legs would be nice on a fine night like this. He also did some automatic calculations in his head, having that other part of him being tied to the full moon, he could count the days in a month to predict with clarity when the next full moon phase would hit. He had a few weeks yet to worry about it. "Yes. Dinner sounds perfect." He says opening the library doors for her to exit out of.
